  1. What ever you do. Do not get a rebuilt waterpump. Your time is more valuable than the $10-$15 bucks you will pay. The OEM pump should be a Atsugi/ Paraut. You can call around to see if any of your local stores have them. I carry it, but that doesn't help you in St. Louis. One thing to look for in a waterpump, is a solid pump portion. Some of the cheaper ones have 'fins" and those should be avoided if possible.
  2. You will end up with a Branded title. State Farm does report to DMV and it will get put on the cars record. If you sell the car before you get a new title, you are legal required by law to tell the person it has a branded title. BTW; I probably have the silver parts you need, may not be a UPull-it prices but they will be the correct color.
  3. Glad that you got yours running. I have a website dedicated to ea81t. Ea81T Index Needs updating, but haven't had the time. For everyone who has a ea81t out there, the ECU are very weak and do go out. Sometimes they are intermitted problems, so it is always good to have a spare ECU to check stuff out with.
  4. The name of our shop is Superior Import Repair, we are located on 42nd and Killingsworth, we are a by appointment business but we do have time on Saturday. Please give me a call, 503-288-8634. Richierich
  5. I was going to give you your console back. My parts car has a good one, so I don't need the one that you gave me. But if GD has one cheap like $10 bucks, I'll take it. I was also going to give you the wagon wheels off of my parts car. I'd like to do some carfax's when I get back to town.
  6. Ed, currently only has computer access at work so he might not get to see this message. IF you can you should probably call him.
  7. Single or Double Core Radiator? With a double core, your car will never heat up using the 165. A properly running cooling system should use the 180 thermostat for daily driving. You should only put in the 165 if you are having problems keeping it cool. Or if you are using it as a Rally Car, or slower driving, it would be prudent to put in the 165.
  8. I am afraid they are going to look in the 1000 or less, and see car with about the same mileage and go off of that. I am personally thinking probably in the 1500 range, they will say all of the stuff you have listed, motor, etc is maintance that any car needs. The lucky thing is that you can buy it back if it is worth it, and part it out or fix it. I have a 87 Grey parts wagon in my back yard.
  9. As a ea81 Turbo Freak. I say all is not lost. Just because the engine is bad, doesn't mean the whole car is junk. Many engines are just not worth rebuilding. I know I have gone through a few only to find a bottom end knock when I am done. It is very frustrating. I bought that Wagon, and he is going to deliver it directly to me. But if you need any parts you are welcome to them. I find that if I take a break from a vehicle, it always helps. (Kind of putting it in time-out til it can be good) If all else fails, let me know before you scrape it, or sell it.
  10. The phase II 2.2 should not have solid lifters. The phase II should have come out in 97. They have a redeigned intake that has an extra 5-10hp. The motor is just as reliable as the old 2.2 One note about the 99. In mid 99, they started putting the newer redesigned 2.5 in all the Legacys. You can get a old body style Legacy with the newer redesigned 2.5 (in Legacy and Outback models) So the only full year of 2.2 would be a 98. And I have owned a 98 Legacy 2.2 AWD Auto Wagon. I have also worked on one 99 2.2 Auto, and two 99 2.5 Autos. Richierich SIR, Inc
  11. I agree w/ Ken. It is an 85 and an 85 Subaru is 17 years old. You could spend 20+ hours gettign it running and hundreds of dollars. What for? Someone on the board would want to give you like $700 bucks for it? If it was a 88 With LSD or diff lock it might have some value but as a 85, put the doors on ebay cuz they do look nice. This would have been the perfect complement car to my 85 RX Sedan I parted out. Between the 2 someone would have had something. Hey Sunflyer61, we have a small shop in NE. What is yours called? You specialize in Subby's or ????? richslaw@hotmail.com
  12. I am looking for information on converting an SVX to a 5speed. I know at least one person on the board has done it, and there even might be a few sites out there.
  13. What I meant to say Rob, I had never seen a 5 SPEED GL10 Coupe until I saw the convertible.
  14. I have owned 3. First one, blown motor $500 buck s. But that was about 6 years ago so it was a newer car then. Second one, a Sedan had been totaled and rebuilt. I think I paid close to $400. New oil pump and extra heads. Last one, best deal of all except the body was a bit better on the first. I think I paid like $600 and it runs
  15. All the 4WD Turbo Coupes were Automatics There are many 2WD Coupes out there, both in Auto and 5speed. I had never seen a 83-84 GL10 Coupe until I bought the convertible.
  16. I have only seen two in my life and I own one. www.angelfire.com/on2/richie/Subaru/Convertible1.html There were a few different companies that made them. Not all were GL10 but I think many of them were. The company my dad worked for in 83 sent a coupe down to California to have it turned into a convertible. My dad worked on it many times trying to get rattles out of it. The one I have seems to have been better made. You can slam the doors and it is very strong. According to a friend that ran a shop down in California in the 80's turning Coupes into convertibles was very popular back then. They did it with like the Buicks and other American cars. All Coupes that were turned convertibles were 2WD. The only Coupes that were 4WD were ones that were equipt with Turbos.
  17. Would like to check this car out. JF1CX3538NH100617 Any help would be appreciated. You can forward it to me at richslaw@hotmail.com If I don't hear from anyone, I will probably just end up getting one.
  18. In 92 many dealers were installing special computer chips so you could not start your car if you did not have it in. Even if you did not buy the system, it was still hidden under the dash, with a blank key inside. Many customers have had a problem with these in the last 5 years. Should take a good look and see if there is any extra systems under there.
  19. It is the cam and crank angle sensors. If it is stopping the car from running you should get them fixed as soon as possible. The parts are not expensive and not very hard to replace. They were probably the ones that were recalled. Though I think you missed the recall. Richie SIR, Inc
  20. Now that you have hopefully got the hood open, I would go down to Subaru and get a new one. They are about $20 bucks and since theoriginal one lasted 120k+++ miles, this next one might even out live the car. Hood pins are great unless someone steals them. But are time consuming to do.
  21. With that many codes in the computer, I would clear the codes and then see if they come back on. If one of them come back up then I would go after them. It is not usually for a bogus code to come up now and then. Richie SIR, Inc
  22. What time is everyone going to be there? I have to work Sunday afternoon. So probably can only stay till Noon.
  23. Sorry I was not able to make it down. I am sure it was very nice. Can we make donations at a local US Bank? If I don't hear from you I will call down to the Santa Clara bank on Monday.
  24. I don't think there could be a more likeable person than Jason. I went for a ride in his rig during WCSS III and we talk for a long while about many things including his passion for Off-roading his wagon. Later in the day he almost flipped us (but that is another story). I was down there on Thursday, and even though, he had recently been in a bike accident, he was still very chipper. Though he did not get many chances to get online, his work that he did with John, and the club in Eugene makes him truely a part of this community. I have had a chance to see a few items that he worked on at John's and his work with exhaust can be truely called custom. I know he helped John out when they were first designing lifts and exhaust work. John, please send my condolences to Christy, I am going to try and make it down, but if I can't I will be there in spirit. Sincerely, Richie
