  1. SOHC came out in late 99 in the Outbacks. (old body style) There are many 99 that have the SOHC motor. The SOHC is also a better motor because less moving parts, and better HP. Radiators that come on all Legacys are very thin. (single row) One good way to help keep the headgaskets from failing is to put a double core radiator. Keeping the engine cool can extend the life of the parts including the headgaskets. Richie Superior Import Repair, Inc
  2. I agree with you that it looks like every other sudo-SUV out there. But Subaru has to do something, it doesn't have any vehicles that seat over 5. I know many people that wanted to get an Outback but ended up with a SUV, or a Volvo, or even the new Passat cuz they needed the extra two seats in the back. Subaru is about the only company that doesn't have a vehicle that seats over 5. The only probably is that Subaru is going to be the last on the market, hopefully it will be the best.
  3. I actually think they breed in the driveway. I mean I wake up in the morning, and there is another Subaru, and I don't remember buying it. But that nervous twitch I have is always gone.
  4. I can get you a Paraut oil pump for around $85 bucks. I would have to check my supplier to see if I can include the seals or if they would be extra. My normal price is $105 for the oil pump & seals. This is pretty close to my cost, the only reason I would be willing to sell it is because I need to get my volume of parts up or I will be sent to another bracket and have to pay more per part. 5. I am working on getting a few things sold. Unfortunately I do not own all the cars that we have around and the ones that are bought to be resold usually most capital has to be use to buy other cars. Lisa and I are not totally broke. We just took a trip. But we do not have enough money laying around to be paying a car payment month after month. On monday I will call the insurance company and see the final word on it. Need to get it so it at least moves, so I can use the other half of the shop. Lisa has shown interest in driving the RX until her car is fixed or replaced. That means that I can get the 92 Legacy Wagon she is driving up for sale. Also going to get the 87 Turbo Wagon finished and up for sale. Everything just takes time :temper:
  6. Something I had before and doesn't get good gas mileage. Would be a 92 Turbo Legacy Sedan. It is a automatic that only works in 3rd gear. My wife's Sedan is not a turbo just has the turbo hood. The dilemma is this 1) Fix wifes car. $1500 or more, even if I find the doors/fender in the right color. 1.5) Just fix it so it drives and start saving for #3 2) Convert the Turbo to a 5spd using parts from wife's car. Use other parts from wifes old car to fix up a wagon I might buy 3) As interests rates are really low right now. Maybe buy the car we were going to buy in a year or so. Either a new 03 Legacy Sedan (special edition w/ sunroof) or a used RS Sedan in a 5speed. Problem w/ 3, is that we are broke, because of my new business and a trip we planned before the car accident.
  7. Not a hi-po Justy. Not a turbo brat either. They don't get that great of gas mileage. But neither does the car I bought:D (hint) And I wrecked my wife's 92 Legacy. I was out of order for a few days but am almost better. Thanks for the concern. :-)
  8. No one has guessed yet. I have had XT6 before. Both were automatics though. And I have an SVX to drive. It belongs to my customer but it is at my shop cuz I am helping her sell it. Rob, don't think I could just go out and buy an RX Wagon. Give ya a hint, I have had one before. As for you Corky, I am just starting to feel better. ( i.e. able to use a breaker bar, lift a tire/wheel above my head) And I have found another XT6.
  9. Whoop here it is. Two problems. One is doesn't run under load. We replace the fuel pump and fuel filters. Most likely in the POS carter carb. Have another one but haven't got it on. It also overheats after about 15 minutes. Put in a newer radiator have had a chance to test it out. It is a long term project for me and my father. Our Convertible Thanks to Ken for helping us get it.
  10. Anyone want to guess my new toy? Going over to the shop later and I'll get some pics of it.
  11. Well if you can't find in Spokane, would you think of having it dropped off in Portland OR? It is a little farther but my father is a Subaru Master Tech with 23 years experience. He does about 1 headgasket job on the 2.5 liter motors a month. We have a small start up shop and our prices are very reasonable. Can supply references from fellow USMB members and other customers. Just a thought.
