  1. Welcome. Lots of folks here from WA. Off roaders too!
  2. Lots of Subie owners on this board in the Portland area and lots of off-roaders - check out the off road section of the board. Welcome!
  3. Work on our 82 Brat is progressing much slower than I had anticipated. Doubt, at this rate, that we will have it licensed and ready for a road trip by end of May. Hopefully it will be rolling by WCSS 12 through as I plan on Ken driving his Brat and I'm driving my 86 Hatch. We will join you if we can Memorial Day weekend though! Lynn
  4. Layoff do really suck - seems like we know a lot of people in the same boat. Glad you scored the Brat. Old GL Wagons and Hatchs are very fun too. I have an 86 Hatch that is a blast too and the old 83 wagon goes ride down the road and does pretty well in 4WD. Welcome to the board.
  5. I too recommend SIR in Portland - 2 locations - NE 82nd & Prescott & E Burnside. Great people with lots of years of experience.
  6. Count on us for one or possibly 2 EA-81's there. Looking forward to it! Thanks to all the organizers for their hard work (and more hard work to come)!
  7. welcome. lots of knowledgeable people here. use search function to do research before asking questions.
  8. floortom put a plastic bumper type of paint not only on the bumpers but also the subie mud flaps on my 86 Hatch - they turned out real nice - look like brand new. If you want to know what he used PM him. Lynn
  9. Talk to board members - Scott in Bellingham (sjrlift.com is his web site or PM him here) for adapter plate and I believe Jerry bratsrus1 (PM him) does the 5 speed adapter. You can find info in the vendor section of the web site here. Lynn
  10. Scott in Bellingham (think that is him) SJR or something - makes the adapter plates. He might be able to help you out but it might cost you.
  11. and that EA-81 engine is one of the finest Subaru ever made. At least according to us rabid old subie fans. We have an 83 wagon, 82 brat and an 86 hatch all with EA-81's. Although the brat will be getting an EJ transplant hopefully this year.
  12. It's not what I have done. BF is doing it. He's been busy painting exterior, refurbishing bumpers, rims, mud flaps, all side strips etc. Still has a couple more add ons like skid plate and roof rack to go. And some fine-tuning on the paint job. Will post pics when the 86 Hatch is done. My job is to think of a new name - I've called him Hatch Boy since I got him and I think he is looking fantastic and needs a "heavier name".
  13. welcome. lots of USMB members in WA. be sure to check out the off road section of the board.
  14. Oh Bill - that was a nasty looking fire and looks like it toasted everything under the hood. I once had a real bad fire in a Brat but it was my own damn fault - nothing wrong with the car. Made me sick though! Lynn
  15. welcome. lots of board members in Portland area.
  16. Any pics of the old cable ends? I believe there are several different endings on those cables that you can't even rely on engine size and year of car. I actually have to take my old cable in to the parts store and then we look at pics on their computer to try to find one that is what I need. And of course they rarely have it in stock and I get to wait for days. Maybe someone else has a suggestion?
  17. Welcome. Fantastic buy. Lots of knowledgeable people here.

  21. I like Brat Brigade. IF (and that's a big if) the 82 Brat is road worthy we might be able to roll up from Portland. Still working out some kinks from previous owner. And have to go thru DEQ and get plates and registration. Would be fun to have a brats only meet though. Lynn
  22. Welcome. Do a search on this site for a lift kit. Not sure where you live but should be able to find something close.
