  1. There is a community of SVX people out there. Here's their website. http://www.svxworldforums.com. Log in and check it out, they have a "for sale" section, of course. And, you can join their group on Facebook too. eBay is a good place to look too. I recently sold a '92 SVX with just under 80K miles for $3K in Phoenix, AZ. It had a power steering fluid leak but otherwise ran fine. Interior was 9 out of 10 with a stock tranny. Minor body issues like dings and some peeling of the clear coat in one spot but no dents. It had beautiful STi rims and new tires (had about 1500 miles on them). An SVX can be hard to sell. I know it's cliche, but you have to find the right person. I'm thinking $2500 - $5000 unless it's exceptionally nice and you might get $6-7K. I've seen some listed for $10K which were basically in new condition (not sure they sold for that though). They're not overwhelmingly collectable, despite the low production numbers and rarity. Subaru will be niche for a long time to come in terms of the highly collectable market. Lots of people just don't like them, me NOT being one of them. :-) This one has been on CL for since the summer. It's a pretty nice example. http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/cto/4222180275.html Nicely staged and abundant pictures with a nice write up including detailed history will always help. Good luck.
  2. The one that got away.... I have a few dozen of those! The last one was a 1978 Wagon here in Phoenix. I looked at it, came home to see about cash, called him right back and he sold it. He was asking less than $1500 with no rust, orig. paint and a gorgeous interior and new tires!!! So pissed at myself for losing out on that one. Street car? Don't all cars start in this world as a street car? It would make a terrific addition to your collection.
  3. Ah, nice nice nice! Good luck with her (all cars should be "her" IMHO). It looks like you have a terrific canvas to get things started. But, if you want to get rid of those icky wheels that I see stacked up near the Fun Tops, I'll take 'em. I might have a set of stock wagon wheels to trade you.
  4. Well, I'm no expert in this, but I think they made 3 different 2-door Subarus back then, that were all slightly different. But, the front is the give away to me or maybe I'm just drunk...
  5. Are you asking about the black one? The AMC Gremlin in the background makes me think this was taken in the US. lt looks like a mid-70's Leone. Of course back then, we just called them Subaru GL or DL ... 1974 or 1975 maybe?
  6. A group of car enthusiasts in AZ are hoping to gather enough Japanese Classic Car owners to have a substantial sized local meet. For now, we're just gathering up people on Fackbook who have an interest in JCCs for some future event. If you are so inclined, want to show off your JCC, want to see other peoples' JCCs or just want to hang out and talk about JCCs, please come over and "LIKE" the page (and post a pic of your Subaru, I need to water down the giant Datsun contingent that's already signed up). If you're not on Facebook, but otherwise interested, please PM your email address and I'll make sure you're include on updates. https://www.facebook.com/ArizonaClassicCarAssociation
  7. I can use those wheels and the driver's window. Where is that thing?
  8. Sorry....but what jackmans means?? http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_ovKWPNlZC6A/SKsRJAfOh8I/AAAAAAAAD78/4XdJJSnKKhw/s400/jackman&imgrefurl=http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?p%3D66965419&h=361&w=400&sz=93&tbnid=ZqabW0fpFlOtRM:&tbnh=96&tbnw=106&zoom=1&usg=__3MX0Rahhc7u09ppgjJGmMmlPNwA=&docid=MCypoltBUL-TcM&sa=X&ei=9UimUrWSDPP7yAGYkoDwAg&ved=0CDIQ9QEwAQ Jackmans is talking about the wheels. Jackmans is a now defunct brand of wheels.
  9. Nice. Nice! Who doesn't love a BRAT?
  10. Ah, I see. I was just wondering if it's something we could do here (in case I need another trick). But,we don't have the same loophole here in AZ. Our loophole is "collector's insurance" which is awesome. Phoenix and Tucson have higher standards than the rest of the state and it can be hard to get things passed. I have two mid-80's BRATs that seem to hold their own every year. The get me for a gas cap every few years. It's annoying but I get the reason for it. One has 215K, the other 250K. I think it surprises the kids at the emission shop every time they pass. LOL.
  11. Hummm, I'm just doing this for the looks. It's doesn't have to work past the basics, not that head rests do much. My head lands far above the highest selectable level. But, I do want it to look nice. We'll see.....
  12. What does "swap plates" mean and how does it save you from emissions?
  13. AZ law says that if you get collector's insurance (through someone like Hagerty), you don't have to get an emissions test. Mine aren't daily drivers so it's not a big deal plus the insurance is unbelievably inexpensive. You probably have checked already, but if not, you might want to check into that.
  14. I had a B210 in college, but it looked different than yours (it was light blue tho). I think it might have been a newer model. As I recall, it was a great car. I don't remember what I did with it though. I like the honeycomb hubcaps. So Koool.
  15. But, can you haul garbage to the dump in it? Can you sit in the back under the stars? heheheh
  16. My rear-seatless 1986 BRAT looks like it has all the "markings" for where stuff goes, just none of the hardware or actual holes. This thread has been VERY informative. Did anyone have any luck locating the upper head rest rail hardware? That one looks like the most complicated part of all this to me.
  17. Ah, that's perfect. Thanks man. This answers just about everything I needed to know! Now, if I only knew how to weld . . .
  18. In looking at the headrests in a GEN 1 I have, there is a bracket welded above the window and in the lower forward bed. Upon closer inspection of the GEN 2, I can see what appear to be markings for the location of placement of the bracket. I was just hoping to get a closeup picture so I can be sure I have it right.
  19. Can someone show me a picture of how the headrest rails are mounted to the rear (top and bottom)? I have an 86 BRAT into which I'm trying to retro fit jump seats. The 86's didn't come with jump seats. I think I might be missing a bracket or something. THANKS!
  20. Oh, it's great. Here's the Datsun I picked up recently.
  21. I can tell you what the cover says: Head (Upper) 15A Head (lower) 15A Tail License Park 15A Turn Back Rear Def 15A IG ST Fuel 15A Clock hazard stop horn wiper 15A Heater fan radio cigar 25A Light SW 25A At least I think that's what it says. It's black and black and dirty plus my eyes aren't that great! I'm still trying to figure out the problem with my low beams (don't work) while the high beams do. If you figure out why, lemme know.
  22. You know me Kevin, I like to keep it looking like it was when it hit the shore from Japan! I might have to buy an extra one to test the quality, my workmanship and the color. Mine has remnants of blue, but it looks a little more "royal" than this one. I'm not sure if it was already painted or repainted or what. Who knows more about this little tidbit of information?
  23. She's a beaut! Did you paint that BLUE on the SUBARU badging on the rear? I'd like to paint mine, just wondering how you did it (assuming you did), what kind of paint and the exact color... so just about everything LOL.
  24. Congrats on your new career and the new Subaru. I like BOTH!
  25. Welcome. I test drove a Crosstrek over the summer and I really like it. My fav color is the Desert Khaki and the Orange. I like the higher stance. Good luck obtaining it.
