  1. you have the most beautiful BRAT I have ever seen! Love the color too! Re: 4wd light on, my '86 does the same thing. I'd be interested to know how you solve that. I haven't looked into it as I have so much other stuff on my list of things that it's pretty much near the bottom. Good luck with your awesome awesome awesome car! I'm jealous!
  2. Wow the black turned out great! I remember seeing it in the primer stage. So awesome!
  3. Craigslist. I just got one (a bosch) myself for $10 and it's great! I think the official name is orbital sander.
  4. Power to '02 imprezas! Looking forward to seeing more as it progresses!
  5. Thank you and yes I'd absolutely love to have some kind of meet in the area one day!
  6. This is what my impression was to. I want to put the valve on, just unsure of how to do so. Hopefully the pages from the manual that tomrhere is sending over will help, but if anyone else has photos or suggestions, I'm more than happy to hear them!
  7. cool thanks! PMed you. Also, which manual do you have? I have the fsm from '83, but I couldn't find anything about the PV in it. Maybe I just overlooked it.
  8. So I'm planning on doing a rear disk swap on my '86 Brat and I don't have the proportioning valve off the donor car (it's somewhere in Utah). I've heard various opinion on whether or not it's necessary for the swap, but I think I'd like to have it if possible (if I understand the downside to not having it correctly). However, I'm not sure what it even looks like, much less how/where it connects into the brake lines so I can replicate it. So I have a few main questions (in no particular order): 1) does anyone happen to have access to an XT proportioning valve? There aren't any in junk yards in my area. 2) does anyone have any PHOTOS / DIAGRAMS of how the valve hooks up so I can replicate it? 3) would an aftermarket valve such as this one work? Thanks in advance! best wishes
  9. I don't have one either. The donor car is somewhere in Utah. The rest of the parts were given to me when I bought the brat. I don't even know what one looks like off an '80s soob. Is this valve a similar thing? . I made a whole new posts for it here btw.
  10. Thanks everyone for the input....this is all on my list of stuff to do! I will post updates on how it goes!
  11. Thanks Tom. Also wondering.... Is there any screwing around to be done with the brake fluid proportioning? Ive read so many mixed opinions. Or maybe ill just find out myself when i try to drive it the first time
  12. I second this. I am not in the market for a tank right now, but I have a 2g brat and I'm in Chicago. You do the math How much is he wanting for a tank?
  13. ok that makes sense. how would you reflare a line? what tools would be necessary?
  14. What do you mean 'hard metal line'? How do you change it?
  15. Oh wow, shoot, I wish I had the cash for that... what a great deal! Maybe coming over to see it will convince me, but I need to get my paycheck first In other news - I found a rear disc conversion guide!! woot!
  16. That is insanely awesome!!! I love it!
  17. Cool thanks! Although truthfully, it's this is probably something I'll take on later when I have a bit more money. Although I do plan on investigating the problem with the current carb. I think I'm going to go the route of the rear drum/disk swap first, since I think I have everything I need off of an XT. Do you know if there are any good write-ups on that here on the board or elsewhere? I'm not really clear on how simple/complex it is, or whether it's just something that's intuitive (i.e take off the old stuff, then put on the new stuff) or if there are specific procedures to follow.
  18. Here I am working on my brother's '97 Altima: And with one of the horses I trained in NM last year:
  19. Just replaced the oil sender unit on my '86 Brat. Now my oil pressure gauge works again!
  20. I actually have everything to do that off an XT. Not being all that mechanically inclined and also a noob in general... I'm not really clear on how simple/complex it is. If it's just something that's intuitive (i.e take off the old stuff, then put on the new stuff) or if there are specific procedures to follow. I'm betting there's a guide in here somewhere tho Yes, I was thinking of this. Where's a good place to get one?
  21. nope, no cleaning done! I believe TajMan (who I got it from) redid all of the seals/gaskets, so he must have done some cleaning too. Lovin' my brat! Next on the list: - address the horrible squeel in the rear drums - mess with the choke, distributor...etc. to see if I can fix the starting / idle problem she's been having.
  22. Fixed the oil pressure gauge today. The first place I assumed it would go bad was the sender unit, so I replaced that. Now my gauge works again! Pretty happy about that and not needing to buy an external gauge.
  23. Tried depressing the throttle today before starting and it didn't seem to have any effect. Gonna check hoses and plugs...etc. but the thing that puzzles me is that it's only for the first start of the day. If i go for a drive and then start her up again, all is well.
  24. I haven't tried that yet. I will try it today and post results!
