  1. Wierd. I've had my EA82 well over red-line (as in, around 8000 revs)
  2. Don;t think anyone's pointed this out yet, but my understanding was that the coil was an inducer, not a transformer.
  3. Old thread alert! For a second, I thought GD was back.
  4. (Yes I know this doesn't belong in this forum, but I felt the old-skoolers would have rebuilt more motors than the new school crowd. Mods, feel free to move if you disagree) Anywho, I'm about to tear into a high-mile EJ22 for a rebuild. What will make this easier? Any repair manuals I should buy? Any recommendations for a good solevent? What can I do for a bit more power? When I'm done, I'd like as much beans as a EJ25. Possible? Thanks in advance, James
  5. For $3,000... it would be tough to pull off. My vote's for Legacy SS, btw.
  6. Congratulations. Sorry to hear about the cirsumstances that led to you getting the lathe, though.
  7. Well, over the summer I'll be taking a road trip to CO, TX, and most likely Mexico too... you never know.
  8. Yeah, its nice. Thanks for the offers everyone, but shipping's not really going to work out for me. Freak, YGEM.
  9. That's right... for a winter project, I'd like to rebuild a motor. Preferable something with a straight block... high mileage motor would work best butas long as its a Subaru powerplant, sorched pistons, whatever, I'm interested. I'm central-ish CT... willing to drive. Let me know.
  10. I see enough around here... but the Northeast is stuffed full of Subarus.
  11. Yup. It's fun to be out mixing it up w/ plow trucks and jeeps in my Sube!
  12. Some good info in here: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=27154
  13. PS - I was browsing your site's WRX conversion page, and do you mind if I ask where your front clip came from?
  14. Wow! I just posted about this car over in Nabisco. Keep us posted if you decide to restore the car Dr. RX
  15. I have both a 1st gen Legacy and a 1st gen Impreza... the Impreza is more fun to drive.. sharper steering, better throttle response, etc... but it also feels more substantial. Of course, might be that the cars in question are a '98 RS and '91 FWD L.... but hey... just thought I'd throw that out there.
  16. Now I feel inadequite working on just two. Might I ask why you're retiring the SS?
