  1. i dont have cruise on my car. i didnt notice any clicking or popping noises either. where exactly is the clock spring??? how difficult is it to replace?thanks for the info by the way
  2. i bought the car a year ago. there was no radio in it. the backlights have never worked and the lights for the HVAC do not work either with the dimmer switch. i have installed an aftermarket radio myself.
  3. my 1997 OBW has no dash lights when i turn the headlights on. turn signals, warning lights, high beam indicator all work just no backlights. i tried the dimmer switch, wiggling it, but no luck. any ideas would be greatly appreciated
  4. i could sometimes bang on the steering wheel and it would go off, but not anymore. it stays on all the time now if that helps with ideas???
  5. i have a 1997 OBW and recently the "airbag" light just stayed on after starting the vehicle one day. Now its on all the time. Any ideas??? No accidents since i have owned the car which has been a year now.
  6. i have a 1997 impreza OBS and i am wanting to lift it. it is and will be a daily driver. i want to use the struts/springs off one of these vehicles. i know either way i will have to get the trailing arm brackets off a outback. the local junk yard has both, 1st is a 2000 forester and 2nd is a 1996 legacy outback. what are the pros and cons of both and what one would you go with??? Thanks in advance!!
  7. yeah, that would be great!! like i said, i wanted to use the springs/struts off a 2000 forester that is at the local junk yard and was wondering how much lift i can expect. also, if i really need the camber bolts for the alignment. i drive the car everyday so i need it to still be reliable. if you could email me some pics/info, that would be great. my email is "bnuckles2001@yahoo.com" Thanks in advance!!

  8. thanks everyone!! it really is great to have people around with this info when its needed. so i guess i will go with the 80-90 as long as it meets the GL-5 spec in the front and rear. thanks again to everyone for all the info. by the way, how much fluid should the front and rear hold?
  9. i have no backlights in my 97 preza OBS. sucks a lot, i have checked the fuses and they are all good. guess i need to pull the dash apart and check the bulbs.
  10. i am wanting to change the front diff/trans fluid in my 97 OBS and the rear diff fluid. its a 5-speed and i am wondering what weight and brand to use front and rear?? any suggestions would be appreciated
  11. this is the swap i am looking to do on my 97 OBS. i have been researching quite a bit just so dont run into any problems during the swap. but i am wondering if i should do the outback or the forester swap. i see you did the forester swap, how does it drive/handle?? this is my daily driver so i need it to handle half way decent.
  12. pertty interesting test!! gotta love the subarus
  13. yeah, thats what i was thinking with the OB being a little heavier. hopefully i can get to the junkyard soon and get these parts before anyone else. i think the part that will pay off the most is that noone around here that i have seen has a lifted subaru. i am so ready for the weird looks and all the questions about having a lifted subaru wagon. that will be the biggest payoff for me. everyone around here has lifted jeeps and toyotas. ready to join them on the trails.
  14. thanks for your info. its nice having people that have done these swaps before and know what to expect. thanks again. i will get some pictures up whenever i can start that project.
  15. yeah, thats what i said. i even repeated myself and said "for all 4?" so i cant pass up this deal just want to make sure these parts will work.
  16. yeah, i saw these on here before. i am trying to spend alittle money as possible right now.(another little one on the way:headbang:) i can get the struts/springs at the junk yard for $75 for either car so i think i can deal with that.
  17. car looks great! good to see the subis getting on the trails.
  18. gwilson87, i love the look of your OBS!!! i dont want to go quite that extreme but that thing is BADASS!!!! would the 96 legacy outback struts/springs give me about the same lift as your car? dont want to buy the parts if they wont work for me. thanks
  19. so i want to lift my 97 OBS. i drive the car everyday so i need it to still handle decent on the highway. what would be best for me??? the local junk yard has a 96 legacy outback and a 2000 forester. the front forester struts are already removed and laying in the car. i want a noticeable lift but like i said i have to drive the car every day. any ideas or pictures i can take a look at??? your thoughts and input are very appreciated. thanks in advance.
  20. thanks so much for the info!!! i am really excited to be lifting my OBS. i have always been into fast cars so this is a big change for me. i am sure i will be needing some of your advice in the future so thanks for replying. your build sheet and pictures are awesome by the way. i love progress pictures with the build.

  21. i would love to see pictures of your OBS with the forester struts and springs. i thought about doing outback struts and springs for the lift but not sure how much i will get.
  22. ok thanks. i will check it out on my car to see if there is any visual damage. thanks for the info.
  23. i will post some pics soon. nothing special, yet!!
  24. did that illumination module fix your dash lights?? i have a 97 OBS and the brake light, high beam indicator, check engine and so on work on the dash, just not the back lights!! where exactly is this module? thanks for any info.
  25. i am new to the subaru world. i just bought a 97 impreza OBS and i was reading up on your build with the outback struts and springs. i was looking to do the same thing. i found a 1996 outback in the local junkyard and was wondering if this was just a simple swap?? i read that i may have to use my factory rear tophats and like someone mentioned in your build to use outback trailing arm brackets. is that about it??? and exactly how much lift should a gain? any info you can give will be greatly appreciated!!!
