Haha, Yes, I have seen your thread Your swap thread is practically my bible for this! I'm just going a different direction with transmissions and clutches. And I'm starting AWD as opposed to FWD.

The one I'm considering has about 130000 km. So if it hasn't been bagged, and I can get some hydro clutch parts, this seems like a decent option.

There's a fellow selling a '94 wrx manual trans for a good price in my area, how hard would it be to use that? (Seems like a good option to me? ) But once again, I'm no mechanic!

Have a question about the Crosstrek? Ask an owner!
natext6 replied to subeman90's topic in Crosstrek "XV"
I haven't noticed this with any canadian spec XVs. Nor have I heard of anyone having this problem on my side of the border. I've heard that it can have to do with either the fuel, or the temperature. One of the things that we get on this side of the border is the subaru winter package which is essentially a cold-weather re-flash. Try turning the key to the "Accessories" setting, pump the gas once, then try starting, this should solve your issues. -
I'm considering buying a 1994 WRX 5 spd transmission for a swap project, but I'm having a HUGE amount of difficulty finding out anything about it. It is JDM and from a RHD vehicle. I'm looking for gear ratio (although I'm guessing it's 3.90), I'm wondering what sort clutch it accepts ( Pull style, push style, hydraulically activated or cable) Also, is there any reason I might avoid this transmission?? Any help, of info will be greatly appreciated.

Definitely not going auto. In terms of what I intend to use the vehicle for, I would say somewhere in the realm of "street" in that I want it to be a reliable car that I can use as a DD, but I also want some performance for when I want to have some fun Also, I'm going to play the idiot card here quickly as I can't remember off the top of my head. XT6, push or pull style clutch, I'm pretty sure push, but memory has failed me. Oh hey, here's a question to strap on to the back of that one as well. Are there any options for modifying push/pull to the other option?

Well, now that we've gone through what I shouldn't do, What would you guys recommend? Both for price tag, as well as performance/reliability, BUT most importantly, what could I do that would require the least work?

Well, the vehicle does have a rear LSD, but you've definitely given me a fair amount to think about. Good info!

I just like being able to lock the vehicle into 4wd when I so desire it. I did quite a lot of sideways last year in this vehicle, and I loved the obvious cornering differences between the "Awd" and 4wd. I might also add, that I work at a Subaru dealership, and have driven all the newer vehicles QUITE a lot now, and for some reason, I've found that none of them are balanced as well as the xt6 is. (Although I may just be fooling myself, you never know!) I've found that I've been able to perform in snow, for instance, much better with the xt6, than with the newer (VLSD) vehicles. Does this match up with anyone elses experience? I'm open to all opinions, I started this thread to explore all the options after all!

I wonder if there's any way to keep the Diff lock, but to swap the transmission for a stronger one?

I've considered the concept of simply using another transmission and clutch setup, but hey, I've got this transmission, and I love the diff-lock, So what the eff. why not give it a go! Worst thing that happens is the transmission blows, and then I would even have the option of swapping internals or something. SO. Back to the question at hand How could I upgrade my clutch for it to be able to handle the ez30 power?

I'm finally getting a move on with my swap project. I've decided to use the FT4WD 5spd transmission from my current xt6 with an adaptor plate and redrilled flywheel (courtesy of SJR). BUT, are there any upgrades that I should do/ that are even available for the xt6 clutch? I'm worried that the stock xt6 clutch may not be able to handle the extra HP/torque of the ez30. I've been on Ebay, and I've noticed that you can get stage 1-2-3 clutch kits for/that fit the xt6, but I have no idea if they're a quality product, or if they will even help. I'm also still not sure what each "stage" means either. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Rarest Old-School Subaru Part or Option?
natext6 replied to Loyale 2.7 Turbo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
They exist for the xt6 as well I believe, seems to me that the EZcheez (yellow xt6 owned by kingbobdole) has those. -
Justifying the BRZ and its cost
natext6 replied to ABawm 88 GL's topic in BRZ and its Sister the Scion FRS/Toyota GT86
It has to do with the trim load-out and the rear suspension (In Canada at least.) If you get into an FRS then get into a BRZ you'll see it right away. The BRZ's interior is WAY nicer. Interior. With the Sport-tech package you get full leather interior with Alcantara seating surfaces, Automatic dualzone climate control, heated seats, and then you get a touchscreen nav system even at the lowest trim level. Rear suspension. I know that the BRZ and FRS have different rear suspension set-ups as well. The FRS is designed to drift, where as the BRZ is tuned more to sticking to the road. I don't know what you get with the FRS, but in the BRZ you get a TORSEN LSD in the rear. Exterior. The BRZ gets self leveling HID headlights, that comes in the base level. AND the front looks better. There's this beautiful badge right in the center of the front of the car, it has a really pretty graphic with 6 stars or something. It replaces the toyota symbol and generally makes the car FAR SUPERIOR -
My research seems to say that it's a pull-type, which is different from the USDM version. As I noted above, it's JDM. But I don't know that for sure....somewhat why I posted this

Well, I'm planning on doing a swap on an xt6, I have some of these parts already, and a couple I have yet to pick up. But Im looking for a second opinion/some more input just to be sure that this will work, and that I won't be wasting my money. I decided to stick this in the "new Gen" section, as all the swap components are at least 95+ Anyway, here are the parts that I plan to use. 2003 ez30 1995 jdm ejTT manual transmission 2004 wrx exedy performance clutch and lightened flywheel hydro clutch out of an outback ~2000 Suspension. xt6 air ride struts 2000 legacy spindles and axles. Still looking for a newer 4.11 LSD Is there anything that you guys notice about my shopping list that probably wont work? Any assistance, would of course, be greatly appreciated!

That is actually one of the coolest looking Brats I've seen!! interior could be more......stock....but to each their own! -
So I found an 04 wrx transmission with a blown 3rd gear, and I've found a good source for a new gear. I've been told that at a mechanic, that's like 10+hours of work to rebuild/ repair it. can I maybe....do this myself? is it REALLY complicated? Should I just find another transmission? Oh, btw, I'm no mechanic, just a guy with a car xD

I'd love to see something xt/6 appropriate!
