  1. check for oil leaks (cam seals, oil pump) check for coolant leaks (water pump) check for broken axles (listen for clicking in turns) these would be the most common items to search for ask for maintenance history records to get an idea of how the car was cared for Jamie

  3. i wouldnt put full synth in a 1996 high mileage - worn engine something like mobil 1 will find each and every leak may cause you more harm than good subaru uses a castrol synth blend @ their dealerships i'd recommend something along those lines Jamie
  4. slotted rotors are not going to make the brakes feel any better if anything, they will add to your woes. the brake feel is generated mostly by the master cylinder. better pads, lines will assist in a better brake feel I recommend EBC Brake pads http://www.subiegal.com/productreview/ebcredstuff/ebcbrakes_redstuff_review.htm excellent bite, easy on the rotors.... good luck to ya. (to a 2002 - 2006 Impreza) WRX hood will swap right in, add scoop and you are done! it's your car, it's your car payment DO WHAT YOU WANT TO DO.....   10. sure sounds like the main lever/combination switch assy. be sure to check all relay's and fuses but i think i'd lean towards a burned out headlight lever/stalk Jamie
