  1. different light pattern, it will throw light right into oncoming traffic different wiring/adapters and state depending? not legal to install... OEM is best in this case Jamie
  2. you could try an on line wholesale site like: https://www.subarugenuineparts.com/oe_parts_cat.html i work there.. have questions, let me know. genuine parts... 35% off list! Jamie
  3. hi guys. 03 OBS has completely different rear top hats vs an older model impreza as far as the impreza line strut tops? 03 is the same as 02 and that's it. but... i do believe these to be damn near identical to 96-99 Legacy rear tops i've yet to compare them side to side, but believe them to be the same. really though, the only way to find out for sure is to try it any manufacturer would be very smart to offer 1/2 off to the first guinea pig OBS as sponsorship so that they know for sure what works and what does not.... Jamie

  5. i was lucky mine expired at 56k and was fixed under warranty a new shortblock will run around $1600. - $1700. - that's just for the block Really, you need to get the car inspected for specific damages if it's just head gaskets, well maybe $1200 - $2000 (parts and labor) and you'll be back on the road DOHC's are found in many early 99 model FORESTER, LEGACY & IMPREZA it was mid year before subaru switched to SOHC good luck Jamie
  6. also... i must point out that the production date of your vehicle is stamped into it. open your drivers side front door. back of the door sill.. there's a plate there with the production date stamped into it. then you will know for sure when your car was produced. Jamie
  7. you must be new welcome. i work for subaru i dont tend to make random guesses earliest listing for replacment parts for STi begins with STi production date 10/2002 this would mean the first STi's off of the production line would have been stamped 10/2002 have other questions. let me know. have fun Jamie
  8. my 99 Legacy GT did the same thing (DOHC) h.g. failure and cyl #4 cracked/gone replaced the entire shortblock best thing to do is just get it fixed now, before it gets worse i can nearly 100% guarantee you you've got bad h.g. what other issues you will find? i cant say. but keep driving the car, and it will worsen Jamie
  9. yes there's an exhaust donut gasket this gasket can be replaced you can simply buy a new one. i can get you a part # tomorrow.. if i dont remember, email me and remind me Jamie
  10. fyi that group (little car trader.com) is located in the Seattle, WA area met up with the owner/operators by chance yesterday Jamie
  11. bad speedo cable or speed sensor cleaning wont help replacment is the answer Jamie
  12. we've got em too: https://www.subarugenuineparts.com/oe_parts_cat.html and i can work with you on freight let me know if we can help (my day job.... ) Jamie
  13. I will promise you, it's the throw out bearing. and if you dont fix it? it's going to cost... basically, when a throwout bearing has gone bad, it is no longer riding flush - it's now wiggling a bit (cricket noise) and over time, this will wear down on the "snout" and likely create an irregular, rough surface bingo... damage is done.... at this point, even if you DO replace the throwout bearing it is still going to wiggle, and repeat the previous symptoms. there's a sleeve kit from subaru that can be used to fix it if the damage is too fargone the only other alternative...?? a new tranny case so change that throw out bearing before it's too late Jamie
  14. my first thought is actually bad gas. if there are no CEL's no obvious explanations dont rule this one out. where did you fuel up last? do you always fuel up at the same station(s)? Jamie
  15. it you get that rotten egg smell it's probably your cat, not your 02 sensor either way, if something is amiss you will get a CEL soon enough Jamie
  16. well once they crack/totally wear, the engine can be damaged by all the shaking about it's best to swap them once they wear down. Jamie
  17. i'm connected... i work at: http://www.subarugenuineparts.com have questions? need anything? let me know Jamie
  18. Really, it's common to any late model Subaru you've got to learn how to drive this aggressive MT the car is LOADED with torque and not meant to go slow you have to learn to feather the clutch learn to feather the gas easy on. easy off. it will take you some time to get used to but eventually you'll get it sorted out or you'll get a chiropractor for your neck injuries Jamie
  19. great thread with photos on just how easy it is to change these brakes http://www.scoobymods.com/forums/showthread.php?t=181 14mm socket caliper spreader or c clamp and you're golden Jamie
  20. mostly.. it IS the engine mounts engine mounts are a wear item, and they wear suprisingly quickly STi group n stiffened mounts will help combat most of that shaking of course, these apply to newer (1997 - on) models only cheers Jamie
