  1. service manual: http://techinfo.subaru.com The older prezzy is a solid car. You will need timing belt, oil pump reseal, water pump and rear cam seals likely... if they have not been done... but typically, replace those and the car will run like new. how many miles? any idea if the timing belt has been done? is it leaking oil at this time? (a lot of the older ones do) Jamie
  2. Napa autoparts even offers a lifetime warranty on theirs never had a problem with mine Jamie
  3. Subaru offers them the cargo basket kits anyway... Cargo Basket Kit Jamie
  4. seals leaking?? my inner axle seals were leaking on my 99 GT and had very similar symptoms to what you are describing. did they check, or mention these? Jamie
  5. clutch in - clutch out makes no difference. it is not the clutch you are destroying, but the viscious center differential. the center diff doesnt care if the clutch is in, or out. it's job is to keep the rear wheels moving... and you're burning it up every single time you ebrake whilst in motion. it's not a cheap $$$$ part to fix..... Jamie
  6. www.scoobymods.com there is a link in there stating how to do this on the impreza's should be the same on the legacy model did this on my 99 gt as well as my 01 RS great site for tons of modifications! jamie
  7. www.scoobymods.com <--learn to change the pads yourself, doesnt take much OE Factory subaru brake pad kits run between $56 - 89 for the sets let me know if i can help source these for you Jamie
  8. with a turbo kit on the 6 cyl.. it wont last we've seen it on the SOHC 2.5's for years now. even at 4, 5 psi - the shortblock melts. proper way to turbo it is to do an engine swap jamie
  9. basically they should line up the same. if you get full strut / spring setup - it should bolt right up. you can re-use your top mounts or you can buy newer/stiffer ones (they call them STi group N mounts) You will want to re use the spring seats if the setup you get does not have them. it's really not that tough wrx wagon, wrx suspension should drop right in. shout if you have questions! Jamie
  10. and if anyone has done this... what is the cost? be interesting to compare that cost vs buying a remanufactured alternator
  11. yeah that's not good you can replace the pulley, but is anything else bent is the big question. damn that sucks
  12. *shrug* guess it's your $ .. but IMHO you are wasting it - suppose it wont hurt anything... not sure it will do any good either on a 130k motor
  13. nah really i wouldnt recommend it if there are minute leaks, old seals, worn anything.... full synthetic will find it, and it will start oozing semi synth blend should be just fine at 130k why would you WANT to go full synth? Jamie
  14. Impreza/Impreza Wagon struts should do you just fine. KYB/AGX or STi struts. Jamie
  15. i have yet to see an older L with an accurate fuel gauge likely you were under a 1/4 of a tank, and encountering fuel cut. (meaning the fuel was very low, and wasnt being picked up) fuel cut will be most evident in cornering. ________________ the wobbling pulley is an issue. was this car in an accident? Jamie
  16. 2005 sti wheels wont fit either - bolt pattern change but yes... 16" impreza rim will fit just fine on an Outback cheers Jamie
  17. hmmm maybe they dont go that far back in the Legacy line.. yet. that tech site is fairly new.... you could get the paperback manuals from Subaru subaru does it's manuals in the most complex way. back in 92/93 they came in volumes. then there were supplements to those volumes for each new model year (following me? ) each volume dealt with a different aspect of the car i.g. engine, drivetrain, chassis, wiring... etc entire paperback shop manuals are about $300 but buying just the volume or 2 you need could save a lot of $ and get the job accomplished at the same time any idea what specifically you'd be interested in? i can look it up and get a quote Jamie <---works for subaru in parts department
  18. when dealing with scoob electronics, best to get subaru factory parts have you had the codes from your CEL pulled? are you 100% it is the 02 sensor? and if it is the 02 sensor, i'll be happy to get you a quote - i work for www.allsubaru.com and can get any genuine part at 20%-35% off list price... but you should really make sure that it's DEFINATELY the sensor before tossing money at it .... Jamie
  19. in the 2.5L 98 vs 00 = totally different animals. 98 - dohc 00 - sohc 98 - maf sensor'd 00 - map sensored there are tons of differences, nearly all the parts differ - you'll want to try to stick with something specific to your model year. is your 99 a DOHC or SOHC? my 99 was DOHC, platinum plugs, premium fuel, etc. Jamie
  20. yep there will be one in the mid section. from the TOP of the exhaust tunnel coming DOWN to the exhaust. likely the hangers are getting tired and need replacing. this may help anyway!! other options would include having an exhaust stop add another hanger to assist in securing the exhaust up and out of the way hope this helps!! Jamie
  21. rear wiper conversions have been done already expect to spend no less than $600 on the glass/wiper itself add to that the labor to install Chaste Auto and Gr8wheels.com are popular sites for true JDM conversion pieces... Jamie
