  1. offset on those bling bling wheels = wrong and will not fit your car you need to get the right offset and bolt pattern... and IMHO chrome on any subaru is just plain wrong i love the turbo baja wheels.... i'd keep those! Jamie
  2. http://techinfo.subaru.com or you can buy the paperback sections from any dealership the manuals are divided into 7-8 sections, each having a different price (electrical, suspension, chassis... etc) entire set of manuals will run you near $300... much easier to download and print off pages as you need them Jamie
  3. thanks guys! i'll check the links - the ozified bolt on kit should be what's needed. many thanks for your input as always Jamie
  4. what is the best? where to get it? do you need to modify or change wheels/anything to fit it? i've heard of scorpion lift kits, but that's about it. any help on these older model scoobs is appreciated. i'll keep searching for info many thanks in advance Jamie
  5. i have a page showing how to remove/swap mirrors for an aftermarket mod granted the Impreza is newer with power windows, but the panel removal/mirror swap should be near the same. visit this link for more information Jamie
  6. how much brake fluid do you have? have you checked or flushed it lately?
  7. how is the car once in Drive and driving? smooth shifts? or are they jerky/hesitant? how many miles on the car? ( sounds like possible beginnings of slipping tranny ) Jamie
  8. call me when your MAF sensor dies and your car goes into limp mode. i'll get ya 20% off... *lol*
  9. check with www.imprezars.com see if he has a MAF adaptor for you dont mess with your MAF. it breaks, the car will go into limp mode and fail to run correctly also, they're $300 each to replace i wouldnt install any intake that was not meant to adapt to the MAF sensor good luck jamie
  10. 72ft/lbs torque on my 95, 99, 2001 and 2003 torque them all the same... use a torque wrench dont over or under torque as that could lead to issues under = loose wheel = stripped studs over = stuck wheel = stripped studs not fun been there, done that... Jamie
  11. well since you asked First, learn how cams/valves work http://auto.howstuffworks.com/camshaft.htm Lets see... do you think that intaking water... when you should be intaking Air means the valves can compress the 2 the same? ummmm..... no. water will not compress... and thus bends rods/valves - like i said, already hydrolocked one engine so i've been all through this... but hey! what do i know... i'm just a girl.... some discussions, reviews and cautions about bending valves with bad intake setups - click each link for full article/information: http://www.vtec.net/forums/one-message?message%5fid=119099&thread_style=flat Water doesn't compress like air, and you can easily bend valves and rods if you get any appreciable amount of water in the cylinders http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=753 too much water can't be vaporized instantly. The engine creates a lot of vacuum (0 - 750mmHg or 0 - 30inHg depending on engine RPM, altitude, and throttle), thus it sucks a lot of water instantly http://www.overlander.com.au/pg/equipment.php?id=4 So why all the dire warnings about avoiding water and dust ingress? The first problem is that water is incompressible, so if a cylinder gets even what seems like a small quantity of water going into it, it may stall the engine and possibly bend a connecting rod or worse. The higher the compression ratio of the engine, the more the likelihood of damage. http://www.pps.net.au/4wdencounter/4wdtech/water.html Air Intake - Water and engines do not mix very well, and when they do it almost always results in bent pistons, valves and crankshaft. If you think this sounds expensive your right. http://www.cardomain.com/item/AEM21474B Warning for AEM CAI INTAKE: To avoid the possibility of introducing water into the intake system and hydrolocking your engine, the use of the AEM Air Bypass Valve is highly recommended. http://www.automotivearticles.com/Cold_Air_Intake_Install.shtml WARNING! Because this intake puts the air filter very very close to the ground, make sure you put the lower engine cover back on and there are no holes in it. You do not want to drive through a puddle and suck all that water into your engine. Hydrolocking a motor because you were too lazy to take 5 minutes to reattach the undercover would be a fate we wouldn't wish upon our most mortal of enemies!
  12. DISAGREE . emphatically. when you ingest water in this boxer 4... you will bend rods and valves and it does not take much to do so. been there done that and seen it happen to others... to each their own. go on and install and intake which sneaks down behind your fog light... it's a free country thanks god! but... when you hydrolock your engine in a 3" puddle... we will all point and laugh
  13. IT CAN BE and has been done. www.impreza.net search in the subaru conversions forum expect to spend no less than $5,000 to do a proper swap Jamie
  14. very likely any WRX but the 2002/2003 OE WRX wheels DO look really nice on the older Legacy models. Jamie
  15. THEY EXIST well... at least they do for Subaru Rally Team USA i have one got it from Subaru... i'll dig around and see if anyone is selling them any longer as the rally team no longer exists Jamie
  16. try Subaru's heavy duty all weather floor mats the 2000 Legacy model should be a near direct fit for you. click here... $39.96 for the set of 4 I have these mats in my Impreza in winter time nice, durable, thick and easy to rinse off cheers Jamie
  17. i personally know of 4 cars which have hydrolocked due to an Injun intake setup - one of them was only a 4" puddle... doh! this intake sits in the fender well near the fog lights and it's bad mojo not a good idea if you hit water often. you can avoid this type of intake or roll the dice an in the engine intake is fine but i do not recommend anything that penetrates the fender wall Jamie
  18. additive from subaru may not 'apply' but it's not a bad idea now is it. honestly i dont think there's much you can do to prevent the HG's failure. if they go, they go.... Jam~
  19. 99 Legacy GT gaskets/block at 56k miles... and i never saw it coming the new additive from subaru seems to be stopping a lot of these HG issues... maybe any kind of stop leak additive should be considered preventive maintenance alongside coolant flushes? enjoy your car Jamie
  20. photos of me?? sure here is a recent one: there are loads of them on my site... go here: http://www.subiegal.com/images/me/about_jamie_thomas.htm anyway back to the RS You will not see massive gains with "just an intake" but add.... cat back exhaust, header, and down the line, even more goodies (cams, pistons, port n polish....) and yeah.. your NA can GOOOOO! - Jamie
  21. cone filters are not the most optimum matter of fact... i'm 'not a fan' Jamie
  22. *jack the car up *remove wheel *grab hub assy and try to move it up down and side to side if it moves, you need tie rods... outer tie rod ends are $39.96 each side from allsubaru.com hope this helps and let me know if we can help Jamie
  23. hey there.. yep that's my car okay... on the grounding thing. it's quite possible someone went through and just cleaned up the grounds but many are adding a 'grounding kit'... these kits do diddly... dont care what anyone says. they look neat and that's about it. see below. yellow wiring = 'grounding kit' and on the intake. many will tell you to spend $300 and get the cobb tuning intake... www.cobbtuning.com well.. it's fancy and all but you can get the same performance for less. i run a Ganzflow intake with K&N drop in panel filter see intake here: Ganzflow intake can be found here: http://www.imprezars.com/products.htm K&N filter here: http://secure.cartsvr.net/catalogs/index.asp?category=237875&count=1 You wont see massive gains... 1-2 hp at the most but your gas mileage will improve and you will have added a reusable air filter... rather than having to spend $20 per air filter hope this helps... you can see more of my Imprezas here: www.subiegal.com cheers jamie
  24. cabin air filter: $31 here <---- i need to add one of these to my 01 RS... the older subaru's didnt come with them stock... you have to add em. Jamie
