aftermarket alloy links will be noisy... and likely create 'interesting' handling (snap over or understeer as they are sooo stiff....) Noltec makes endlinks for your car, but based on your post, i dont think those are what you'd want. seems to me you are best off getting new OE replacments... OE endlinks are good, but yes, they can be a wear item. They allow the sway bar to sway, thus eliminate harsh movements. up to you but here... is the link anyway Noltec Alloy endlinks here <--- hope this helps. jamie

P0122 - throttle position sensor circuit low input symptoms: erroneous idling engine stalls poor driving performance reading over the diagnostics in the shop manual... if it's not the sensor it could be the wiring from your computer to the sensor -could be the harness itself, or just the connector -could be the contact in the computer definately sounds electrical and a real pain to chase down i dont think they're lying to you... i think this is just a tough one to find. aftermarket clutches = shudder and chatter only way around it would be to swap to an oe style clutch the 97 outback was not known to have a clutch shudder issue. only the newer impreza wrx's were complained about and remedied with a new replacement clutch best to find out exactly what they put in there but know, beefier the clutch, harder the pedal and the more shudder you will have Jamie

if indeed you need new calipers... buy the part and learn to swap them yourself. replacement calipers (piston/boot) are quite expensive for this car - about $180 each side... so yeah $550 is not too far off. if you havent noticed any sticking there may or may not be a real issue? buuuut... on the other hand, sometimes the boots can wear down on the calipers, and yes it's best to change them... for safety's sake. it's not 'that hard' to do this yourself with simple tools. sheeeesh i hope this helps. but i'm not sure it does?? putting the car into 2WD will not help your gas mileage much if at all. basically, with that many miles the AT transfer clutch/drive may be beginning to fail... so yes, basically, you may indeed need a transmission rebuild.... definately sounds as though it is beginning to slip based on your description. and yes, it's quite an expensive repair sorry! best of luck to you Jamie

nah... it's not a climate thing it's a design thing i live in seattle... temps cannot get any more mild than Seattle... and mine went at 56k and i cannot tell you (numbers too many) how many repairs we've had on this item at the local dealerships... nice theory tho but not applicable to this particular issue Jamie
