ISSUES not heard of any major issues... and i know that subaru uses NGK plugs - but that my 2001 came with champions?!?! OBK should have NGK's in it i would think... K&N FILTER K&N filter = great investment. I have one on my 2001 RS K&N for your Legacy here Be sure to pick up a cleaning/oiling kit at some point. K&N = money saver and it ads power! you cant beat that BRAKE THUD? does this thumping occur only when you apply pressure to the brake pedal? is it a continuous thumping? may be worth a warranty visit/complain to the dealership if it persists...... hope this helps Jamie

um.. sorry, but it seems you are misinformed. GL turbo Pressure plate is $95 and dealer cost is OVER $50 FYI I know, i work in the parts department at a very large Subaru Dealership (#1 in the Nation in Fixed Operations!!!) Discount OE Factory dealerships are out there. With Websites and everything... (http://www.allsubaru.com, http://www.subaruwrxparts.com to name a couple) These are real dealerships with access to Real Genuine Subaru parts, and they offer discounted prices. These parts carry a full Subaru Factory Parts Warranty can you provide that? It's a good idea, but there are legitimate dealerships and sources out there. Not everyone is trying to "get rich" of selling parts It's a business, yes there will be a mark up of some kind, but there are stores out there that offer 20%-25% off LIST price. LIST = Wholesale. You can buy the parts cheaper than the body shops and other wholesalers... pretty tough to beat that. well, that's my $.02 and change Jamie

would that be such a bad thing??? to have a couple of luxury subaru's running about? i'm sure the base model $19k cars will still be an option as well take for example the Legacy 2005 (new Legacy styled by an individual who has nothing to do with the rest of the Subaru line....) now we'll have 4 Legacy Models (excluding Outback) : Legacy GT (turbo) Legacy GT Limited (turbo and heated/electric everything) Legacy I (2.5L NA) and Legacy IS (also 2.5L NA) I am sure we will see 2 different marketing strategies from Subaru from this point forward... base model (18k-24k) and luxury models (28k and up) i dont see anything wrong with that! and i love the new design... change is a good thing... and i'm all for it Jamie

from the dealership: WWP-99 Service Campaign - Cooling System Conditioner Subaru has determined that certain 1999 through 2002 model year 2.5L equipped Subaru vehicles may experience an external coolant leak from the cylinder head gaskets. This is the result of normal relative thermal expansion and contraction variations of engine parts. As a precautionary measure, SOA is recommending that a special conditioner be added to the engine cooling system to prevent leaks from occurring or to correct existing leaks. Only early Phase II 2.5 liter engines are affected by this campaign. Phase I 2.5 liter engines (some 1999 model year and prior years) are not affected. Countermeasures applied to the manufacturing process for those 2002 and later VINS not affected by this campaign have eliminated the need for this campaign to be performed on those vehicles. In the future, it will be necessary to add Genuine Subaru Cooling System Conditioner to the SUBARU vehicle cooling system whenever the engine coolant is replaced. The updated recommended service procedure as well as intervals for coolant replacement will be added to all applicable service manuals. As a reminder, we will include an update page in the owner notification letters that should be added to the Owner’s Manual and Warranty and Maintenance Booklet. We ask you to keep in mind that replacement of fluids (including Subaru Cooling System Conditioner) during inspection and maintenance services are not covered under warranty. If the vehicle owner has this Service Program repair performed promptly, Subaru will extend coverage under the Subaru Limited Warranty on the vehicle for cylinder head gasket external coolant leaks to a period of 8 years or 100,000 miles, whichever occurs first. Warranty coverage begins on the date the vehicle was delivered to the first retail purchaser. If the vehicle was used as a demonstrator or company vehicle before being sold at retail, warranty coverage begins on the date the vehicle was first placed in such service. As a further condition for this extended warranty coverage to apply, the vehicle owner must have Genuine Subaru Cooling System Conditioner added to the vehicle at any subsequent cooling system services at the interval specified in the Warranty and Maintenance Booklet under the heading “Schedule of Inspection and Maintenance Services”. Dealers will automatically be sent an initial quantity of Genuine Subaru Cooling System Conditioner. Dealer bulletins and affected VIN lists will be mailed to dealers in early February 2004. Owner notification letters are scheduled for mailing in stages.

ironically enough, just went through this with my next door neighbor only days ago if the spark is there DEFINATELY pull the timing belt cover off. see if the cam/timing marks line up. if the marks are off - your timing has jumped if this is the case, hopefully the teeth are all 'good' get a timing belt and a new tensioner this should do the trick. oh and... i do not recommend standing firmly on the gas when the car will not start, this will only "flood" the car and make it even more difficult to start or diagnose once you've found the actual problem. good luck jamie
