blown strut(s) for sure..... you wont realize just how bad it really is until you replace them..... try searcing google for "used subaru parts" if you dont mind putting used struts on the car or try a wholesale dealer for discounted new OE parts. good luck Jamie -
heya baybe sedan/wagon springs should be swappable... but i'm not 100% if the sedan springs bolt right up in the wagon.. try asking the gang on http://www.impreza.net in the legacy forum they've done it all by now! H&R springs will drop the car a bit.. but they're too springy... lots of bouncing and when i had em on my Legacy i rubbed in corners (stock tires) and over speed bumps etc. Whiteline makes a nice 30mm (1-1.5") lowering spring SPECIFICALLY for the wagon (or so they say!) heck... we even have em in stock reg $225 per set i can make you a smokin deal just shout if interested.... sway bars: whiteline makes a nice adjustable rear bar $125.95 - for a 18-22mm adjustable rear bar (includes new urethane bushings and a grease kit) Strut mounts: i'd also recommend STi heavy duty strut tops if you can find them for your car... easy to find the newer (2003 - on) but it's getting harder to get the older ones... call me if you need help... mmmkay? we have the sway bar and springs in stock this would be an excellent start on your suspension woes take care Jamie

i needed em on my 99 GT at $56k.... isnt this covered under warranty? 00 Legacy has a 5 year 60k warranty on the powertrain. are you right at 60k? or a bit over? suggestion? buy Genuine parts at wholesale costs (i can help if needed) and pay only the labor... this should save you a few hundred dollars... if i can help, get me a list of what's needed good luck to you jamie

as was said there are no real gains to "upgrading" plugs and wires on your OE car. if you have the OE engine... what is the point? you wont see any gains. save the $$ and put it elsewhere.... bet OE plugs/wires which were DESIGNED for your car and make the car run RIGHT. NO hiccips NO hesistation issues (these can be found with the inappropriate plugs/wires) most discount subie stores offer these things cheap!!! (ours is 30% off retail!!) that's the route i'm going... and that's my $.02 and change cheers Jamie

GOOD PLACE TO START??? http://www.cars101.com <---search the archives there was no forester until 1998 - so rule that out the first true outback hit the roads in 1996.... and ALL subaru's went to AWD beginning in 1996.... up through that point, a good handful of the models were FWD 2.2 or 2.5 engine is your option either one will do you fine and get you decent gas mileage... check http://www.autotrader.com for a nice used Legacy or Impreza/Impreza Wagon maybe? good luck to ya jamie
