  1. AHAHA! No, my instructor was very cool, and very patient with me. I wanted to drive how I drive, not the way he wanted me to 'learn' their methods. Eventually, I let go, un-learned - to relearn the tricks/tips/skills they are trying to teach in the class. It worked, pretty cool stuff! I had a fantastic time - seriously ! But yes, admittedly the best part of the day for me was the end of day run where I was finally allowed to trailbrake like a mad dog all over the course
  2. Rally Rally Rally! Sweet, yes I did it! I went to DirtFish and did the 1 day school. Very cool. Really! The school was a blast and I lucked out and had SNOW to play in! (you guys here in the NW know how lucky that really is...) For those of you not familiar: http://www.facebook.com/Dirtfishrallyschool and http://www.dirtfish.com Photog stud Aaron Kathman snapped a few of me dusting off the cobwebs.... (really, that did not take long!) You share seat time with other students so when I was not in car I made sure to snap a couple of some of the other students in the class I'm sure most of you have heard of DirtFish I know there are a ton of reviews out there but wow.... It really was fun! More than I expected.... I do have to say that their STi's were a real treat to drive as they've got a nice rally setup. Mud flaps, proper tires, full skids, roll cage, rally suspension, and the brake bias removed... (watch that last one!) Everyone at DirtFish is so genuinely nice, accomodating.... You will not want to leave. *cough* I didn't want to leave.... and still want to be there. It's not far from my house... I may start stalking them. Think I can ditch the po-po when they call them??? Enjoy the pix, I will try to post a few more as time permits Jamie
  3. Stanley certainly does not get what Subaru advertised (66mpg) back in the day I haven't driven him enough to figure out exact and precise figures But the average appears to be 40-45 mpg He's not a freeway van though, so this is all side roads. Still - that average doubles any other Subaru I own
  4. I'm using Subaru's EPC software as I work for Subaru. As the 2 models use different bumper beams, the fenders and bumpers are likely not the same Hoods yes. But the other bits may not be compatible without swapping the beam/bumper/fenders. Just like the early WRX here in the USA 2002-2007 The Sedan and Wagon use the same hoods. But the bumpers/fenders are not compatible without swapping all components.
  5. Rally wheels will likely clear. Doubt you will like the price though Speedline 2118's (if you can find them) should be a close if not fully successful fit. I use these on the rally car and they clear WRX brakes - 2002-2007..... Will not clear STi brakes however photo of what i refer to....
  6. not necessarily Outback vs Legacy = different front bumper beams (using subaru's parts catalog to reference) And that usually means - no. they're not the same. the 00 Legacy vs outback hoods appear to be the same the fenders however, differ. could just be a slight trim issue, or could be a complete no go. I cannot tell for sure without trying an install. Hopefully someone has tried this before and has more insight? Hope this helps a little bit!
  7. thanks. I will enjoy him and he is a treasure for sure. Pretty damn fond of this little dude
  8. Yeah maybe right now yeah, we are planning on bringing Stanley to the show
  9. Stanley got himself a roof rack!! And those of you who are interested, I've posted some of the specs here: http://www.subiegal.com/thecars/subaru360van/360vanspecs.php Can't wait until the weather gets better so I can drive him a bit more ! Jamie
  10. Stanley hopes you all ENJOY the holiday season!!!
  11. Yes! he goes in the snow.... well... not very well but he did move on his own!!
  12. yep the original owner had the exterior painted red it looks nice in the photos but this is not a good paint job :-\ I intend to fix that eventually including a full interior paint to match I may keep it red but will add some red flake/make it better - more stylish I'd like to find a roof rack of some sort for him and I intend to replicate his long since destroyed mud flaps. (well at least 2 sets of them) The Van had 3 sets of mud flaps originally *front of the front wheel *rear of the front wheel *rear of the rear wheel The fronts were to keep water out of the exposed under body up front during rain As Stanley wont be out in the rain, these are probably not necessary Don't ya love my AC unit... stylish isn't it?
  13. Really to each their own right? I'm a purist. I won't modify this car too much at all. Others mod the crap out of them, engine, body and more. Me? I may or may not re-engineer the original splash guards I may powdercoat the engine bits I may rework the interior (new upholstery, new belts etc) but that's about it In my eyes, he's just too cool to mess with too much
  14. yep... he's a 1970 In pretty good shape, the paint is... bleh.... :-\ but it looks nice in the photos
  15. Thanks! thank you! I think so too... he needs a bit of work, but then again so do I and we are the same age so......
  16. Stanley is awesome!!!!! <---true! He's new to my stable of Subaru's as of September below is a photo of the long tow home from LA, CA as we went through the redwoods. We are having a BLAST together...! and he's already been modified (i cannot help myself) Stanley's first modification = eyelids Stanley loves to give hugs and he prides himself in staying neat and clean Seriously..... Picked the van up over the summer in LA at a car show (pre arranged) Owner (from AZ) had him for 4 years and did little with him Previous owner daily drove him for 23 years (and painted him red....) He is a great runner, driver and a wonderful project I feel privileged to be a part of his history View more photos here: http://www.subiegal.com/thecars/subaru360van/subaru360vanphotos.php I'll update this thread as our relationship progresses. If you have questions, feel free to ask.... Jamie

  20. here are a few for starters..... more to come soon... Jamie
  21. wait? low beams only are out? (sorry, I missed that) DRL relay maybe? that's just another quick thought....
  22. you're going to have to remove the control arm to replace the transverse link bushing urgent? no will it affect handing? yes (will will have more flex side to side, forward back as the bushing is blown) so put it on the list of things to do - but again, it's not an urgent deal Jamie
  23. if both headlights are gone at once it's probably a relay... not a fuse. illumination relay should be in the in-car fuse box the clicking noise you heard is the relay I'm going to guess it's gone bad but this is hard to diagnose via the internet. Jamie
