I remember polishing block before knock sen install. Well took off & all still looked polished. I checked resistance from wire to metal base on sensor, still NO reading. unplugged little short pigtail from unit & checked male fingers. Still NO reading. Hope the thing is still under warrentee. I'll let you know when I get new one in. (& will check readings before install.)

rrrrrrrrrrrrrr I checked knock sensor(single wire) & get no reading. Am I doing it wrong? I have single wire, one probe to wire & other to ground?

Either knock sensor again or o2. should I check ohms on knock sensor? Whats the range? 1999 2.2. If I change o2 , OE or aftermarket? If after which one?
-
Ok put ngk wires on & still have problem. I did change the knock sensor when I 1st got car about 8 months ago. & made sure not to put it on hump & torque down & stress it. (in other words put it in correctly) & CEL went away.(back then) About a month ago there was an o2 code that was tripping but hasn't come back for a few weeks.

Just changed plugs, all electrodes looked ok but enlarged gap. (approx.050-.055) 2 & 4 were autolite , 3&4 were ngk. # 2 well had a bunch of oil. cleaned out as best as I could. put all 4 new ngk's. Test drive & still same. Wires are blue 7mm Belden(napa?) . I suppose I'll change them next to ngk wires. Is this best, next, choice for elimination?

Sorry 1999 impreza L 2.2. I'll check replace plugs today, & then if problem still exist, replace plug wires. (I located ngk wires). I wouldn't think vacuum, idles smooth. I bought car about 8 months ago with 146k on odo. Did timing belt kit, replaced all fluids & filters.

Starts fine, idles fine, but under load going up steep hill in 1st, dogs or bogs until 2500 rpm, then feels like the dead cylinder kicks in. Also noticed from complete stop, sluggish till 2500 then instant on. Confirmed CEL light does work at start up mode. Soo if problem is plug or plug wire, would CEL definitely come on ?

Can you hit CTRL+J? In firefox that will bring up the download list. But your browser might be different.
Ok, Thanks, thats works to bring up list & I see it in there, but cant do anything with it. Normally , right click shows open & others etc... but the open is not bold , it is gray & wont apply.:-\

I downloaded(I am running mozilla) Took about 12 min. but cant find it now or open from the download file. The open is in light grey? How to save it properly?

I spray painted lift points on my loyale after the rockers became too soft to lift from.
On newer gen cars, do not lift from the bolt head that holds the differential moustache bar to the body. It's right next to the lift point and looks solid, but it will crush into the car binding up the bushings and transferring differential noise to the body.
I think I jacked mine up on these plates that hold the bushings, & may have bent them slightly, because it seems like I'm hearing some transfer of noise. Looking at them they look like they are not bent. Do these bushings ever fail? The drivers side seems more pliable, when I pry wishbone up & down with crow bar.

I hit bumps and sometimes passenger side gets real dim, where is this fuse at ? 1999 imprez L

Autozone axles are also very good, they get them from a subaru rebuilder.
They take your old core? I thought they were supposed top be new?

the trouble with shops , lifts and the pinch weld jack points is that the lifts tend to crush or bend the standing seam/ fin. this makes it difficult to place a jack later. no one seems to bother with either being careful or using different lift points, ... except ricearu.
This is what I was concerned about. I feel like painting 4 bright yellow spots under car & printing "jack here". I wish there was some kind of aluminum block, 4"x4"x1" thick, with seam depth grove, to clamp to pinch-weld seam , to give it a little sturdy-ness. And with little diamond teeth for jack grip, or a thin layer of urethane.

ALWAYS put year and miles on the car, otherwise we sometimes wont have a clue on what to tell you.
Didn't I respond to this at some other place or is this dejavu?
Yup, you told me, but this is his 3rd post, Welcome & now you know.

For a 1999 impezza, can a remote start be installed? Or is there an OE plug & play? Are there good & bad sytems? . My brother used to have a Corolla & the thing would malfunction, & keep him from starting. Leaving him stranded.
-
Do you guys usually watch to see where the lift pads are placed? The factory recommended pinch welds are still the preferred spot? when a garage puts up on lift?
-
I jacked up rear only & hand spun wheels, with my stethoscope against each rear spring, & I dont think it is a wheel bearing. I think something is rubbing metal to metal somewhere, and transmitting sound.
-
:lol:All this time, I thought you guys were talking about a DIY kerosine & oil mix!
-
but not as beautiful as that damned bread bag idea.
I only wish i'd have heard that a few months ago!
i coulda gotten a few more years outta my bad axle...

I wanted to jack all four off ground & run in gear so I can isolate wheel bearing noise. Anyone ever do this? Where is best placement of jacks? On pinch weld seam where factory jack points are?
No cel but dead cylinder?

Manual set multimeter and yes get reading when leads together. Found my sensor receipt, lifetime replacement!!! Went to Advance auto , & checked new sensor at counter. Same thing, No reading. Counter dude got his meter out & same thing. He gave me new one anyhow. I tripped the check engine light when I started car with sensor unplugged. So I took off neg bat lug while installing new sensor. hooked all back up & CEL still on. let engine get up to normal temp & took for test drive. Pep is back !!! Now to scan for code. But still puzzled on testing knock sensor?
On edit; code was 0325, so I cleared it with my scanner & so far it stayed off, time will tell. wander why battery disconnect did not clear it?
