  1. I have removed the ignition switch and tried using a jumper wire on the red connector that the switch plugs into. This was unsuccesful, any other thoughts.
  2. I just purchased a drivable 81 4x4, 4spd d/r wagon as a parts car. The ignition switch is out of the dash and requires a screw driver to start it. On the way home after buying it it died. While trying to restart I could not keep the white plastic spring loaded part of the switch in th "ON" position. I unplugged the the switch from the red connnector to fiddle with it. I think I plugged it in backwards tried to start it and heard sizzeling. I found a blown fuse for the Ignition, replaced it but no juice when the switch is turned on. Tried jumping the terminals on the red connector with no luck, could get the starter to turn over by jumping it but there was no spark at the disty. What did I fry???? The great wisdom of the USMB is always appreciated
  3. Thanks for the tip Skip. A $45 distributor from a wrecking yard gave life back to my wagon.
  4. I got a used distributor from a wrecking yard for $45, and it RUNS!!! Thanks for the info about the ignition module. Wasn't even considering that as a possiblity.
  5. Is there any way to check the ignition module? Or easier to just replace? And is this something that I could get at a wrecking yard or should buy new?
  6. The fusable links and the fuses in the fuse box are ok. Anywhere else to look? And yes it has been an ongonig problem. I while driving i would lose power and it usally would die, able to restart in a minute or two.
  7. I have an 82 4x4 wagon, 4spd d/r that will not start. The starter is turning the motor over but there is no spark from the coil or power to the fuel pump. I have replaced the fuel pump control unit, and the coil. I tested the fuel pump directly from a battery and it worked. I am unsure of what to check next. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
