  1. No, you cannot has. This one be mine She's finally home though. Got fresh tabs, new plates & the title will be in the mail soon. I put new-er calipers & pads off a wagon to help with the breaks. Swapped out the rear trailing with the bad bearings & the new arm ended up having a bad axle so ill be swapping An axle . 91_Ej_22 rebuilt my weber for me, runs good now. Still needs a little tuning . Reppin' some USMB on my hood .. Oh, I also painted the wheels white lol & drained the gas tank & put a new fuel filter on it. It had a nasty, rusty filter & a bunch of gunk was running through it. Surprisingly the gas wasn't that bad when I drained it all out though ... I gave it a full tune up when I got it as well. Gonna change the oil & filter today.
  2. Figured I'd start a build thread on the hatchy I just picked up on Friday. 1.5 hour drive to Aberdeen & $250 bucks this thing was mine: It's an '86 DR 4 speed hatch. It had been sitting for a year & a half. The guy thought the starter was bad, so he pulled it, had it tested & it was good. So he threw it on the drivers floor board & shut the door. Me & 2 buddies got there, checked it out, threw the starter back in & noticed the battery cables were rusty & corroded. Spliced back about an inch on each cable & cleaned the terminals & vrooom! She started. Runs rough, it has a hard time idling. the weber needs rebuilt & it has a terrible exhaust leak at the heads. But she runs. 204xxx on the clock. Weber carb w/ electric choke. Accel super stock coil, a new battery, new tires, and a cherry bomb exhaust. Oh, and some seats out of a civic or something ... Back at Subruise's house ....... Gave it a bath yesterday & clean out the interior. Threw on my Yakima roof bars. And a 4 spoke wheel that Rob had laying around . Pulled the tires for paint & the weber as well for a rebuild. Rims are going white. Checked out the brakes today & they're cooked: Gonna see if my Ea82 rotors & pads will work since I just stripped an entire wagon with newish parts on it. Thinking about going full ea82 knuckles & suspension since I'm in there & it's available. And the ea82 knuckles have new sealed wheel bearings ..... Rear drivers trailing arm needs bearings so I'm doing those & throwing my rear discs on the hatch . That's about it for now, besides getting it tabbed, titled & on the road again. It's gonna be a daily for awhile then I may eventually lift it. I have a 6" kit coming in the mail . Well a majority of it lol .
  3. Picking up an ea81 to swap into my buddies 1980 wagon with an Ea71 & blown HGs. Was just wondering if anything needs to be done to the harness to make the ea81 run ?
  4. ^^^ that is the wire that we found to looked fried, the white wire from the Alt to black fusible link.... Cut, spliced & replaced it with the same wire out of another harness. Still nothing. I decided to get rid of the car, I'm going ea81 today ...... Thanks for all the input guys. But this thread is pretty much over ....
  5. No other plugs were un done besides the MAF. And the reasoning for pulling the MAF was the car had a slight stutter during acceleration so I wanted to clean up some sensors ...
  6. 88 Spfi Gl Went to pull MAF to clean it, also changed air filter. Go to start it, nothing. Keeps cranking. Ran perfectly fine all day & yesterday. Checked all my fuses, swapped out fusible links & tested all of the relays. Even swapped out the fuel pump because I couldn't hear it priming when key was in ON position. Even with green connectors plugged in. Still can't hear fuel pump, nor do I have any idiot lights when I turn the key over. I swapped out the ecu as well, neither of them are blinking to show if its throwing codes or not. Found white wire to black fusible link burnt at the terminal. Pulled terminal out & re-spliced a new one in from my old Spfi harness from an 88 as well. Still nothing I do have a maxima alternator swap directly connected to the original wires of the harness, no fuse in between. Been running fine for the couple months that I've had this car, no issues. I'm about ready to pull all my goodies & scrap this one as well. Just about had it with 88 subarus lol rewiring the car with a new harness is not an option either....... I'm not an electrical guru just yet so if anyone wants to chime in it'd greatly appreciated, I'd like to make it to the Evans creek summer run next weekend. Thanks
  7. Use the SEARCH function..... It'll do you wonders . Post like these come up quite often lol an ej22 or an ej25 is gonna be the biggest motor you can put in there w/o having to notch out the frame rails or something serious like that .
  8. Ill probably be sitting this run out as well, my clutch is also feeling weak, & that last run did some work on my front axles lol And my wheel bearings have been quite noisy the past couple days ... So I'm gonna sit this one out. NorthCoast, I still have your tow strap in my car from the last run. She's in a safe place haha
  9. Telling a 17 year old kid that he's gonna die & that life insurance won't cover for it if he does because he lifted his car is one of the most disrespectful & cruel things I've ever read .... There's probably over a thousand lifted subarus in this world & I don't think one person has died from driving one .... Also, I'd recommend that you don't recommend anything to anyone about a lifted Subaru because you obviously don't have one ... Get your facts straight before you go off telling some kid he's gonna die if he doesn't keep his car stock, sorry were not original like you ....
  10. ^^ I simply just forgot to throw mine back on before we went wheeling lol ill have it on future trips .. Just out of curiosity, how'd you manage to bust an oil pan on the street ? Lol
  11. My exact reasonings for saying the Naches, I camp in GreenWater a lot during the summer. But Uberoo is right, Naches is quite easy especially when it's dry, my buddy took his bone stock 2 door Jeep Cherokee over the Naches lol I'm down for EC if that's what everyone else is saying... Eithery way they're both only like an hour from me ...
  12. Sweet ! Thanks man. I'd rock your company's name/logo too if ya wanna toss me one of those lol
  13. ^^^ That's what I've been doing for the past couple nights is unplugging the negative on the battery and plugging it back in in the morning . And it has a good battery, just something keeps draining it when left plugged in overnight . And it did this before I wired up my stereo & fog lights . So I'm positive it's not those. Same stereo & fogs that were on my last car .....
  14. Not yet, don't have a money for a multimeter. Tomorrow or Friday ill hopefully have one . Idk why happened today I must've hit a bump or something but my dome light and drivers side open door indicator light now come on when I open my door .
  15. I watched the Eric's parasitic draw video last night, I don't own a multimeter so I couldn't start the process but I do know what to do now. So I need to go but a multimeter, I'm surprised I haven't bought one a long time ago  Thanks for the help so far, ill let ya know what ended up being my problem.
  16. I've been trying to get my hands on a wagon mafia sticker for a little while now lol
  17. No it only works when the key is in the on position.
  18. Wasn't on but I did found out my window lock switch doesn't work
  19. I don't think the parking light switch was on but it might've been ill go check.
  20. So like the title says, my battery dies overnight. Just about every morning i go out and i get nothing. sometimes ill go out in the morning and it will still unlock doors, and ill get some interior lights but theyll be dim and the car wont start. I picked this car up about 2 months ago and ive been swapping batteries back an forth from my truck to the subaru like every other day ! ANNOYING! Lol im suprised these batteries are still holding a charge after dying and being swapped so many times .... I have a junkyard Maxima alt swap, and it is a good alt. i can unplug the battery when the cars running and it will stay running. When i got this car it needed a battery so i bought one used and it is indeed a good battery, it has like 875 CCA so its a pretty decent sized battery . Now, i believe i have some shorts somewhere in my wiring that could be causing my battery to die. 1. I just replaced the headlight relay, and EVERY single fuse & fusible link in my car because i didnt have any marker lights front or rear after pulling the dash, and after replacing the relay i think it was i had my markers and tail lights back But my STOP LAMP light is still on, even after replacing both brake light bulbs so im not sure why the STOP LAMP light is still on ..... 2. The center dome light and the RED open door indicator light on the cluster DO NOT come on when i open my driver side door, so it doesnt show that my door is open when it is . But the dome light and door indicator lights come on when i open every other door and the rear hatch ? ( i have a wagon ) Other than those 2 things i cant think of any shorts anywhere or what could be causing my battery to die overnight. It drives perfectly fine all day long, no problems. no low voltage on the meter or anything. Sits at like 14v on the gauge I have an aftermarket stereo setup and some fog lights wired up as well if that has anything to do with anything lol sooooo what gives ? Electrical in cars is not my cup of tea, yet ...... 88 Gl wagon SPFI Maxima Alternator
  21. Ill be there this time, finally ! Lol
  22. Sorry to get off topic for a sec here, but you should do a write up for that wideband o2 setup. Or at least pm me some details lol I've got a 6" lifted ea82 that's somewhat of a DD that could use some better mpg ... Especially for my road trips this summer .
  23. Drained the battery again last night too ! It's back in the garage right now . Out comes the dash again .......
  24. ......... Nobody has any idea as to why I don't have running/marker lights ?! Come on help a youngin' out here !! Lol my STOP LAMP has been on too, before & after I pulled the dash . And in the FSMs it says the stop lamp comes on when one of the bulbs goes out simultaneously in the rear but I changed both of them with no results :/
