  1. So last night on my way home from work my stereo cut out, all the lights got dim and it dropped to like 9 volts on the gauge and it started making a noise, instantly turned it off and coasted to nearest street. Pulled over, wires to alternator came out out there connectors, pulled em out re spliced and plugged em, back up to like 12 or so on the gauge all lights everything works Go to start car and my motor is making a crazy noise it sounds like spoons in a blender Turn it off but still goes into gear and will move, barely. I noticed 2 things, first I noticed that my flywheel has grinding marks and some oil on it ? And the little corner section that i use to line up timing marks broke off. Did not fall into the flywheel area, I picked it up and threw it away. 2nd thing I noticed was that my oil cap was missing because one of the pieces that locks it in broke off, I've been waitin for it to fall off lol anyways look around to see if it was stuck in like the timing belts or something cause I have open belts. Not anywhere in sight So now I'm stumped I have no friggin idea what happened. Motor and alternator still turn over, I looked at all the teeth on the flywheel while turning the motor over, not missing any. Here's the "grinding" marks on my flywheel
  2. I'm a little confused as to why you took your car in to get your bumper "inspected" ....
  3. Was gonna try an make this run, but I've got a job interview Saturday at 3:30 So unfortunately that rules me out, just got my cb radio and idle fixed too !! Next time ...
  4. Good luck trying to fit 31's under a 2" lift, I had to beat and cut the hell out of mine to fit 215-75-15s which is like 28" tire ...
  5. I tracked all the lines from behind the heater buttons, found plastic line #1 unplugged, plugged the other end into it and my defrost works again Lol Thanks again for the help guys
  6. Ahh i see, makes sense now . Soo where would I plug line #1 off of the white canister too ? To make my defrost work again ..
  7. I'm kind of having the same troubles as well, I deleted my CC system and now my defrost won't work I've found my lines for the heater controls down by my feet and I seem to be missing line #3 ? Not sure if it was ever there but I have nothing to connect vacuum line #1 off of the white canister too ... Here's my pic of my vac lines by my feet, no line going in either direction on top Sorry, not trying to thread jack ya here just trying to figure out my heater situation as well !
  8. Ok sounds good, really appreciate our help ! I tracked all the heater control lines today down to the little rubber grommet that they go through down by drivers feet, lines 1&2 are plugged in but there is no line #3 going in any direction ? Here's a pic: EDIT: lines 2&3 are plugged in. The one that has no line going to it is #1
  9. I just took all the plastic covers from underneath the steering column to look up into all the wiring and there literally was nothing I could plug the plastic line into. No small vac lines even leading up to that hole in the grommet
  10. Geez ! You didn't have to go and do that, that's frickin freezing Lol appreciate it though . I'm still having trouble trying to find the line to connect this small plastic one too because there is no lines under the grommet or along the firewall to connect it to :/ I don't recall even cutting any of the small lines, that's why I'm so damn confused lol
  11. I know that it comes off the intake and connects to that canister. But I can't remember how #2 was connected because I only cut two wires, the ones from the harness for the CC plug in and the vac line that came off of the CC These two wires here: And this is how I have it setup now, with no where to plug #2 line into ..
  12. So I need some pics if anyone has any or is willing to go take some for me I'd appreciate it ! I was disconnecting my cruise control setup in my 88 gl because it doesn't work and I don't need it anyways for a wheeler .. And I took the vacuum lines for my defroster along with it  so now my defrost does not work inside the car just blows out of the vents .. And I can't remember how everything was setup so therefore I need some pics lol I'm not sure what type of cruise I had but it was all mounted to the passenger side strut tower . I still have all my Lines and canisters so I should be able to hook everything back in ...
  13. Figured I'd post a thread in the 80's section as well so it'd get more views ... Looking for a 4wd ea82 wagon or sedan that I can swap all my lift goodies onto . Prefer an 88 or newer so I have electric windows, or ill even take a turbo body. Don't care on color . Looking to get one on the cheaper side since somehow everyone always finds em for 200 bucks  I know someone's got a yard full of subarus out there that they wanna sell ! I'm in auburn wa . Got cash in hand
  14. Welcome to the forum man ! I live in auburn as well .. I drive the lifted maroon wagon with a roof basket on top .. If ya ever need an extra hand working on your car let me know, I'm always down to wrench on a Subaru
  15. ^ we'll drag it through the trails :-p ill be there for sure on this run ! I need to replace my front axles and I'm good to go
  16. Yeah, electrical is my weakest area with cars . I'm young and still got a lot to learn lol I appreciate you giving me the info on that though .
  17. Found the culprit, I was missing the female connector on the positive wire to the alternator so it was just running off the negative at like 10 v . Got a new connector clamped it down and plugged it back in . Good to go !
  18. I reconnected the IG wire to the yellow blue and the red to the green , still same Results but I will look into the Alt wiring now . Thanks gloyale !
  19. So I wired up a new stereo yesterday in my 88 gl , ran all new speaker wire straight to the harness, everything's hooked up works great ...... Until it starts raining , flick on the wipers and the stereo cuts out . Stereo cuts out if I use the blinkers too I've never had this happen before, this is the 2nd stereo I've put in my car . Now the wiring is a little off, when I pulled the deck the car came with the yellow battery wire was connected to a blue wire with a yellow line and the red ignition wire was connected to a solid green one, everything else was all matched up with like color wires .. So I did the same with my last stereo and it worked fine until the speakers & wire went to crap and threw some code on my stereo . So yesterday I bought a new jvc deck and two new front speakers, rears I bought with the last deck so they're still new . Wired everything up the same as it was when I originally bought the car, ran all new speaker wire to all 4 speakers . Now I'm just confused to how the blinkers and wipers are cutting out the stereo when I've got everything hooked up as it was before ? I disconnected the yellow and the red from the green and blue wires and connected em to a solid red and a yellow with a white line, cause that's the one coming from the battery , now I've got nothing , unplug yellow with white line and connect it to a solid yellow so I've got two solid yellows together, turn over car still nothing ???? I'm dumbfounded at this point, I've never had such troubles with a simple wiring job on a stereo . I have everything clamped together , not the adapter piece to the cars original harness. Here's a pic of the red and yellow wires , the green and blue ones in the middles are what they were originally connected to
  20. Cool forester, lame "mudpit" . Couldve taken a 2wd car through that lol
  21. I'm in ! ill see you guys tomorrow ... I have noisy axles up front as well but theyve been that way for a while so im just gonna bring a spare first time out at walker !!
