  1. I think my buddy is going to drive it. Meeting up with grant tomorrow to give him parts to fix his wagon
  2. I'll be there in my rx. Gonna try and find another driver so I can bring my 86 hatchback too
  3. Thinking I'm going to make this one. Doing some things now getting it ready for the show, should be ready for the trails afterwars. First time out in a while ....
  4. Any year 5 speed DR will will bolt to the ea81. So anything from 85-89.
  5. There's 2 ground wires that bolt onto the passenger frame rail right under where the harness sits and all the plugs are at. I disconnected those and turned the key over and the fuse didn't pop, with the thermoswitch plugged in as well. I'm thinking maybe it has two ground wires for some reason and its getting to much power with both of them plugged in and popping the fuse. Maybe one was for the AC? I don't have a fsm or anything so I can't look
  6. With key on power, I have 11.8-9 at the fuse for the fan, the thermoswitch plug & the harness side connection for the fan. I don't have any long enough wire at home so I'll have to wait until tomorrow to get some. Maybe I should just wire it to a toggle switch so I'm in control of it..
  7. Did some digging, looks like somewhere was in there cutting wires. Connected the white to the white and two blues to a blue and all is well.
  8. Okay I'll clean the contacts inside and see what that does for me. Thanks.
  9. I just tried a voltage drop across the motor. 12.3 at the battery. 0.00 on both sides, terminal t clamp, Showing no drop. The electric fan does spin freely. The mechanical fan that was on the water pump is now gone.
  10. Update, tried bypassing the connection for the thermoswitch by bending one prong of a 15A fuse so it's perpendicular to the other and stuck it in the connection, it pops the fuse for the fan in the fuse box and the fuse I'm trying to bypass it with to see if the fan will kick on. I took my volt meter and I'm bouncing around from 11.3 to 12.1 with key on power. I also pulled the fuse for the AC that is on the passenger strut tower.
  11. Electric fan does not come on in my 87 Rx. I wired it to the battery to drive it home, then cut & spliced the plugs for it from a JY car. Fan didn't come on, so I checked the fuse, blown. If I unplug the thermoswitch and turn the key over it doesn't blow a fuse. I believe the car had AC at one point because it has the relays and fuse on the passenger strut tower and the plugs are still there for it in the intake harness. If I plug the green test connectors in and turn the key over I can hear the relays clicking. Do I.need to remove the fuse at the strut tower? Tried grabbing a thermoswitch at the JY today but they were all a different connection. Mine has the two spade connectors on the end of the thermoswitch, not the one with the two wires that go to a blue plug. Only had the car for a couple months and its a blast to drive but I won't continue to drive it without an operating fan, we all know what these ea82ts are notorious for...
  12. Having some trouble tracking down the issue as to why my passenger window is not working. I've got two regulators with motors that both work, tested them directly from the battery. I've got constant 12v from the white wire that goes to the relay, which is what I'm supposed to have according to an older post on here, what I DONT have is any power from the two bullet connection that plugs into the window motor. I swapped out the switch itself, still nothing. I loosened the screw for the grounds under the passenger seat and wiggled them around making.contact, relays were clicking so that means grounds are ok correct? My drivers window works fine, passenger window isn't operable from the drivers side switch either. Stumped at this point, checked my fuses. None are blown, I suspect this thing has power door locks but those aren't working either..
  13. Bump. Gonna update this old thread. The 88 Gl is gone. But I now have that same Maxima alt in my 86 hatch. Did the alt swap last weekend, go out to start it last night. Dead. I'm thinking it's that internally regulated alternator, but it works fine while running. I know you're supposed to upgrade the field sensor wire with a thicker gauged wire and an inline fuse, at least 15amp I'm assuming. I have not done this yet. Could it be the non upgraded wire? Or just this alternator...
  14. Why in the world did Subaru put those big truck mirrors on that wagon!? Lol regardless though, nice score man.

    My RX

Nice ride man! I just picked up a running 87 RX for $50 bucks and a snickers bar. What are you doing with the parts car? I could use a white Rx front bumper mine came with a black 85-86 GL bumper..
  17. Can anyone tell me what these abbreviations mean ? Mainly the "R" where the start signal wire is supposed to go.
  18. Also, your condenser is grounded to the block and not on the bracket?
  19. Are you supposed to splice the fusible link wire from the ea81 harness into the ea82 harness? Mine is still plugged into the fusible link box and to the + terminal like normal.
  20. Yeah, unfortunately for me it is quite complicating. Thanks though
  21. Hey jeff or 1982gl4 can either of you tell me where the red fusible link wire from the ea82 harness goes ? I have it hooked up to my fuse box now but in GDs write up he says there is a black w/ white stripe wire that connects to the ecu and ignition relay then splits off to the old fuse box in the ea82, he says to cut from the fuse panel and extend it to where the new fuse box will be in the engine bay, he says it wont require a relay but a 15 amp fuse from the red fusible link wire ... That part confuses me. Do I tie those together ? put an inline fuse in the fusible link wire?
  22. Yeah I've read GD's entire swap a number of times now.
  23. No it didn't, I realized I didn't have that one and bolted it to the bracket like normal, one wire going to the - side of coil, I think lol and the other mounted on that bracket to the engine block,
