  1. Well when I loosen the top it starts coming out, -it's really full. There's a label there saying don't open unless under 3/4 full, too. Just struggling with the siphon and mess.
  2. Okay, got the o-ring, going to check it out soon as I can get some of this gas out. My cheapie siphon is not cutting it -do Not like the taste of gas...
  3. I have a 2000 ob here ej25 and am trying to figure out why it's not getting gas -pulled apart the fuel filter under the hood and blew thru it, the fuel pump is making sound when I turn the key, but hardly any gas is coming out. The car is very full of gas, so I am going to have to siphon some out if I have to pull the pump. The car stalled out and would not restart, so it was towed here. I can make it fire with starting fluid. Could this be something other than the fuel pump?
  4. I'd like to see rear louvers for the Gen 3 wagon, and a high center console that works as armrest -prob'ly couldn't afford them -I do drive old subarus, after all:-)
  5. This isn't my car-(borrowed pic) but it's 'missing' most of the same stuff- (of course i have a rear wiper switch, where this one doesn't) -There's the spot next to the headlight switch (later the hazard switch) where they put the dash dimmer (why is that there in 85?) -The fog light switch ko (hopefully I will have that one soon!) -The manual choke pull ko -The left side of the gauge assembly -all are blanks except the defroster switch Ideally, I could eventually get the actual options that those spaces operate (except air ride height) -Then there's the ko on the radio plate for the trip computer (if only I could find one!) Someone recently mentioned a recirc switch for the heater, found in Canada models -never seen one, but would love that option, don't know where that goes.
  6. I'd like to get some of these knockouts on my 85 GL Wagon dash filled in, to make it look more complete or 'loaded'. Plus, I am having zero success with my weber choke (had it apart, tried everything) ...so if you guys can help me out with what goes where, and what it looks like, please...all those blanks kind of bug me. Anyone got a pic of the most loaded dash? The Subaru 'correct' manual choke handle? any other options that are missing/blocked? I will have to live with the stack of empties on the gauge housing, since I won't have air suspension, and my cruise is the dealer type -although 'dummy buttons' (or rocket launchers)-might go in to fill it up. If I know what I'm looking for, it will be much easier to find, or request in the wanted section. TIA
  7. If it makes you feel any better, the Murray single row cheapie from O'r's was a Terrible fit! -and I was replacing the exact same model -aluminium w/plastic tanks. Had to swap top And bottom rails from the old one, and crush the bottom post mounts flat to get any of it to line up. Turned a simple job into a real pain. No question the chinese have QC issues.
  8. 85 Free FTW! How 'bout a pic or two?
  9. I broke most of my plastic clips getting them off, used 3M yellow super weatherstrip adhesive (600?) to glue them on -but be careful you got one shot with that stuff, it will eat paint when wet
  10. If you can find it, get the Larry Owens book "How to Keep Your Subaru Alive" it has been a great resource and is an entertaining read, even for non-mechanic types. Much more user-friendly than the regular books.
  11. Some guys have trouble locating the clitch, ...hehe... Sorry couldn't resist :-) Nice looking car!
  12. I have had my oil pan off a couple times (grrr) and not touched the mm's -I was able to release the pan, and spin it and work around the pump pickup to let it drop. Just remember the move made to get it back on and do the reverse-very carefully not touching the sealant to anything until it's in position to get a couple bolts started. It's tricky, but can be done. YMMV Hope this helps. The real hard part for me was getting those rear bolts in!
  13. https://www.rockauto.com/catalog/x,carcode,2000001,parttype,10024 Carb to mani gasket... But why is the coolant line plugged anyway?
  14. Trust me, I am circling that thing like a vulture, ....just gotta get him started fixing it up,...then convince him it's not a good enough stereo!!:-)
  15. You're killing me, dude everybody's seen that;) The red one's 85, the white one is 86 -it's all stock -I am going to steal his radio...
  16. Yes -the carb will be very difficult to sort with all the "mods" to the vac system. I consider myself pretty good with carbs, but even with a working model to look at (friend's car), it was a pain to try to get right. I was having idle/choke issues, which I was working on when I started getting the bucking like you mentioned -had good idle, but when driven it would buck and die over 2500-3000 rpms. That's when I discovered a small split in the secondary feeder hose like I mentioned. Also, I think the rebuild kit is for a couple different models -and may contain some extras you won't need. You can rebuild most of it w/o removing the carb -just take the top half off, I think 5 screws hold it on.
  17. The stock vacuum system is a can of worms to try to repoduce 30 years later. There are some pieces that will break and are hard o find replacements, if they are even still with the car. There are some threads here attempting to simplify the system, too, with varying success, -most of them end with a weber swap. Including mine; ) I am going to go out on a limb and suggest that you just check all the existing hoses are intact, and there are no vacuum leaks. Particularly the one I mentioned earlier-I had very similar experience and there were many mysteries, but the bucking problem was Definitely about that short tube connecting the carb to itself on the passenger side. It sounds/looks like someone made it work, it's worth a try to do less if possible.
  18. Nice car, I like that color. Your fuel filter sits under the car next to the fuel pump, just forward of the tank. Near the golf tee there is a round thingy on the Carb Body (looks somewhat like the two others on the choke system) there Should be a small hose coming from that to the carb -(Secondary feeder, I think). It is most likely cracked or missing. Autozone had rebuild kits for around 35 bucks. Hope this helps!
  19. That stripe reminds me of '50's Fords!
  20. Wow! How fast was that tree going?! Seriously, hope everyone is okay.
  21. Covered 'Lake pipes' are opened for drag racing -straight pipe = not street legal. Usually when the covers are on, there is a second system with mufflers for street driving. Many cruisers just have lake pipes for 'old scool show' and never open them.
