Factory Roof Rack thoughts...
rrgrr replied to Silas Cruse's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Does your roof ever buckle with the spare on there? -
Please treat her to a can of Engine Brite when you get done (you'll save the $ on hand cleaner!)

The plate doesn't fit the factory studs? I did an ea81 with no tapping and used a redline plate, but I guess I thought you were going to use the TransDapt rig, which is what I used on my ea82 (Much better adapter w/no threads). *(Remembering) -Actually the ea81 I did was using an ea82/Hitachi manifold, so same, same...

what are you tapping? I have never tapped any holes for a carb swap...?

wagon wheel center cap tricks or tips?
rrgrr replied to lastchance's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I am working on getting center caps to dress up my redrilled 15" wheels. Don't think I have ever seen this plastic part -I'd like to see if it could be used for this.(I ran caps on my hatch without any plastic.) Can someone post a pic of this part? -I searched the web and I can buy them, but no one selling them shows a pic. -
My friend (whom I talked into buying an 86 wagon) started having carb issues, so I helped him rebuild the Hitachi. It still wasn't acting right -and still needed the choke fixed, So... I gave him the Hitachi I rebuilt just before my Weber swap -we just transplanted the top of my carb onto his real quick, and it's much better!

Does this look like a good Weber to rebuild?

Excellent decision -exactly how my hitachi idle thread ended, too. I also got a lot of satisfaction out of dismantling that pita system after my battle! -

I would request a pic looking down in from the top so you can see the bore, jets, etc. & how funky it is...probably a good deal if it's not banged/scraped up -hopefully it's cleaner on the inside! -
^Agreed, the secondary will try to open when you load the motor, like stepping in a bit around 25mph would get it bucking and sucking, and flatten the bowl. Very easy to do consistently. +1 on getting stuck on the lobe, or something with that stupid double vacuum Hitachi system. Try to disable the choke vac, spray some cleaner in that. Also, inspect the hose connecting the back of the carb to the front (-it's on the pass. side) it will suck air at a certain stage if it's not airtight.
-
Does it seem like this is happening when the secondary is trying to open?

Nice! I like the ironing board, too!

^what is that sticking out on the driver's side, a camera? -
I will say I Really like the way you have it now, w/white wagons, caps & rings!
-
I was actually a little bummed out when I saw you were going to change it!
-
Have a fire extinguisher ready, just in case!

I searched long and hard for that pump, as did a dealer/tech where I found the car. Ended up doing the weber swap which hurt a little since the engine bay was So perfect. I hope you have better luck.

looking for a gl10 sunroof

I wish they'd put t-tops in everything like the brat! -
I was referring to the plastic and such on the pillars, I'm sure the steel wasn't changed. Just didn't know if the slots and junk would matter or just be unsightly. Or maybe you could leave that and put a tiny racecar on there to run up & down
-
Do you change pillars and stuff to do the seat belts, or do you just leave that stuff there?

I am getting 28+ with mine without trying and 26" tires
