  1. I would like to save it and restore it to its former glory. But there is only one problem, Connie: Theres an ocean between me and the car. Lukas
  2. Not true. They were called Leone from 1985 until the beginning of 1990. From 1990 on they were called Loyale, and only in america. In austria, they were called "Leone Ranger" from 1990 until 1993. Lukas
  3. The EA82 were called Leone in japan and in austria. So thats their REAL name;). Lukas
  4. We have very much salt on our streets in winter. My Leone is rustfree and I want to keep it like that. Lukas
  5. Hi! I just wanted to share with you all: My Leone is on the road again! I didnt drive it in winter, but now its getting spring and I am so happy to drive around in my Leone again! Tomorrow I am going to check all the fluids and some other stuff and then its ready for the summer! Lukas
  6. I never rev my EA82 over 4000RPM, I shift at 3000RPM most of the time. Lukas
  7. Welcome! I also think the best soob for you would be the Loyale. It is reliable, has lots of room, its comfortable and its got a soul. Ask Bucky92;) . But if you are limited to about $1000, it will be hard to get a good, well-cared-for Loyale. You can also look for an 88 or 89 Subaru GL or DL Wagon/Sedan/Coupe. I dont know which bodystyle you prefer, but I think for your little family it would be the best to look for a wagon or sedan. The 88 and 89s are fuel injected and as reliable as the Loyale. Don´t know if they are better rust-protected, but rust is also a problem on the Loyale. I hope you will find a good Soob, they are great cars, you have to love them! Lukas
  8. Go for something like that: http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=68190&item=4535389284&rd=1 You can also see the engine. Lukas
  9. The best would be if you look for a VW Golf 3 GTD. But I dont know if you can get them as easy as here. Lukas
  10. Don´t know if it was available in the US. The 1,6 Diesel 50HP was available in the VW Golf1, VW Bus T3, Audi 80 Diesel, VW Passat Diesel and VW Caddy. The 1,6 Turbo Diesel 70HP was available in the Golf2 and Golf3, VW Bus T3 Syncro, VW Santana, Audi 80 Turbo Diesel and Audi 100 CC Turbo Diesel. Lukas
  11. You cant compare a never-took-care-of diesel and a well kept diesel. If you make oilchanges regularely, the W123 and W124 Diesel engines are extremly reliable. In Germany and here in Austria, most Taxis are Mercedes Diesel, from the W124 200D up to W211 200 CDI and 220 CDI. The best Diesel for Subaru-use and for fryer oil use is the 1,6 VW Turbo Diesel, believe me. Its reliable, easy to work on, tuneable to 100HP and 200Nm torque, and easy to find (here). Lukas
  12. The last VW Diesel for fryer-oil-use is the 1,6 Turbo Diesel with 70HP from the Golf3/Transporter TD.The modern TDIs are not able to run with selfmade diesel/oil. If you have questions, feel free to ask. 75% of the cars here are Diesel powered. Lukas
  13. The switch is in the windscreenwiper-arm. L
  14. There are very much Justys around here. They last longer than the EA82, because the Justys do not rust so bad. I like your project! Lukas
  15. Does anyone have a pic? The first Subaru imported to europe was the EA81 in 1979. Lukas
  16. Its my hobby too! I like pics of the EA82 best, because I like this boxy "refrigerator"-bodystyle best! Lukas
  17. Whats a FF-1? Formula Ford 1? Final Fantasy 1? L
  18. A subaru-restauration is never worth it, because you will never ever get the $$$ you put into your old soob. I paid 2800 Euro for my car, put 1000 Euro into it and it is around 1000 Euro worth. Lukas
