Na ah... I use it to haul all kinds of stuff, except full sheets of plywood, we use the F-350 for the huge things. The bed is nice and low so it's easy to get things in and out without climbing up into the bed. The tailgate is strong and holds 666 lbs. it can be actually used as part of the floor of the bed. The interior will hold a slew of stuff if it's raining. It's quick, fun to drive and "funky", not ugly, looks like a little kid built it from a pile of his broken cars and trucks. I get a lot of compliments on it. The MPG isn't bad, the seats are comfy so the ride is very nice. Everything is within easy reach. We have a big black lab that has his own space on road trips with the seats folded down and a big cushy comforter. The tinted rear windows help keep him cooler and the design lets him put his head between the front seats and rest it on the console for patting and closer contact to us... he loves it! I'm just glad I got an '05, from what I have seen, the '06 is only single color, I prefer the two-tone cladding, it accentuates the oddness. I love mine.

Not to worry about bringing any food... it's all covered... I'm cooking! -
I've had my Baja for a year and a half. I agree with everything that has been said. I love my turbo... especially while entering the highway and passing. Whoosh! One thing that hasn't been mentioned, is that the tailgate will support 666 lbs. so it's strong and can be used as the floor of the bed. There are plenty of tiedown points for securing taller cargo that wouldn't fit in a wagon.

Old School at Wicked Big Meet

It was held at Nashoba Valley Ski Area in Westford, MA. It was great! Yes, I think it was the biggest meet ever... nobody actually physically counted the cars, but judging from the pictures/ticket sales, the final numbers look like around 775 Subarus showed up and well over 1000 people. The Red Bull Rally Simulators were set up, Team O'Neill was there for an informational lecture. Plenty of free shirts, hats, stickers, etc. from vendors and sponsors. The raffle items were many, many, many... and good stuff too... iPod shuffle, Pepper Pod, roll cage, dyno time, track time, $100 gift certificates, parts, (that tach/shift light I won is $245. retail) etc. It's a definite "save the date" for next year! -

You'll know It'll run all afternoon into the night. -
I got the 2 Brats and the Baja to the Wicked Big Meet on Saturday. It was a really good time... I didn't realize how many people I knew there. The Brats sure got plenty of attention! I won a hundred bucks and a massive 5" Auto-Meter tach with shift light that won't fit in the Brats for sure. Here are the pics of the meet: http://www.onalimbracing.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.ShowItem&g2_itemId=7073&g2_page=1 Pages 1,7,8,13 BTW, there's a nice shot of subafreak on page 15.

Legroom and headroom in a Brat?
Seahag1978 replied to IdahoJak's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I'm 5'8" and feel fine in either. I did change out the stock wheel with a smaller style wheel. It makes it harder to turn, so I'm changing it back out to a stock wheel. Tim who is the same height feels very uncomfortable in the Gen 1. Check your shoe size on the Gen 1. We have had a few big-footed teens sit in the Gen 1 and they can't use the gas without hitting the brake pedal. -
2 gen 1 Brats that I'm possibly getting!

I just know you'll part them out. Please tell me that at least one has black interior. Pretty please... with sugar on it? -
I would give my eye teeth to be there... you of all people know that. I can't even think about it till early July. Priorities rule. I would appreciate feedback from your visit. My wish list, A/C units for both '78 & '86... other parts sheet metal... etc. In other words... comestible parts I'll likely need within the next 15 years. My oldest grandson is 7, and the little "************e" is 4... they're their cars... maybe... if I ever tire of driving stick... NAH!

Your car BETTER be running... it's a month from now! Now, I assume you mean Barq's root beer. Quite frankly, it's the only SAFE one on the market... there's an ingredient in most others that is banned in Europe for human consumption... if you have enough, it makes you sick as a dog... or can actually kill you. I have a severe allergy... it almost sent me to the emergency room. Bad stuff. I only drink Barq's... mmmm. -

Southwest ROCKS! Best airline (and most fun to fly) in the industry... never cried poor-mouth after 9-11, never asked for government help... they lowered their rates and gained loyalty... they have smart business sense. -
Clutch Cable Snapped... Yikes!

Whew! It was that the cable snapped. I have a new one coming in today. Any advice on the easiest way to change it? -
what exactly does pearl do to paint?
Seahag1978 replied to ironhydroxide's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Because of this, it's also the most difficult paint process... even the "experts" shudder at the mention of it. The pearl coat has to go on flawlessly. Maaco quoted me $4,000. plus paint, for a pearl finish on a disassembled truck. They were probably going to job it out -
As someone else on the board stated... POR-15 is your friend... SUBARU3 recommends Rust Bullet. Rust sucks.. deal with it NOW... it won't get any better! Start with a high pressure wash with "Salt Away" then rustproof everything. My 'Rust-Free CA Car" was driven in salt... but not by me!!!!" It's showing up now... you SOB!

Seahag1978 replied to Seahag1978's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
He started it in 2nd. Then he shifted up and down as needed. At red lights he had to shut off the car and restart in 2nd. I attempted to move it myself... it won't go into gear with the engine running until the clutch is disengaged. -
Could have been the warmth of the engine. Our black lab most often sleeps/sits in the bed of my '86... mice love it too.
