  1. Awwwww... you ditched the idea of the mini-truck- -lowered-what-cha-ma-call-it monstrosity you were building? Breaks my heart.. just kidding... gotta luv ya kiddo... always movin' on... only way to go... elsewise you die
  2. Those motorcycle "kidney belts" will look sooooo sexy in shorts/no shirt... not a fun ride...
  3. Sorry for the delay. The Gen 2 is nearly 24" hole to hole (it was hard getting a metal tape in there). So it must be a Gen1.
  4. They did make performance parts, they're called hills... in the downward direction only It is, what it is. Stable, steady and reliable, it will also keep you from getting a ticket when used as directed
  5. Ah ha! Get a shingle shovel (for stripping roofs) at your Home Depot or Lowes. It's compact to get close has pointy teeth and a sturdy woood handle. WORTH EVERY PENNY!
  6. The seats are the same on both Gens. I found that Gen one has a heavy "leather" embossed look in the plastic while the Gen2 had a fine pebbly finish. I'm pretty sure the headrests are the same. I can measure each tomorrow if you want.
  7. Judging from the pictures you gave me of your little "runs"... you need a padded cocoon inside a hermetic seal... Yikes!
  8. We got about 2 inches of fine snow and then rain... packed up harder ridges than anything I've ever seen. Like driving off-road and worse... this shi-tuff doen't give at all. What a mess!!!!
  9. Dang Skip! I thought you were helping me with bad hair days! Come to think of it, if I used that, I would never have another... EVER!
  10. As I have mentioned in other posts on this issue, I love the AWD but hate my Baja's ABS brakes... I would rather lock and recover. My '86 BRAT goes out in the slickery stuff, and the Baja stays home. No wonder there are so many wrecks, in some cars, they couple the ABS with full-time front wheel drive where you lose forward control... I have seen so many cars nose first into snowbanks because they didn't make the turn because of the FWD... yikes! I'd rather fishtail and recover too!
  11. She's pretty much done... a few little things, she snagged 2 trophies last season, the '78 got 2 also
  12. Hey Neo Dang, I'm STILL chipping mud out of the BRAT from your last run Have at it, my friend, my little one won't see the slop ever again BTW, she's running great and is my official daily driver. Cute as a button... she's loved everywhere she goes... and she goes everywhere
  13. Pretty, I like the white on white, so sweet. Fix the brakes and drive it!!!! I prefer driving my '86 BRAT over the Baja in the nasty stuff. I HATE its ABS brakes. Let me slide and recover on MY terms. I know better than they do and have waaaaaay more time in the seat dealing with slick roads than these dang things PERIOD! They scare the heart out of me.
  14. I know that kiddo... I just wish I knew you then... eh, water under the bridge. It's all good now
  15. Ask subyluvr2212 about my yellow BRAT. It looked great but wasn't at all, at least on the inside. Some people here will think this is nuts, but if you have a good, rust-free body and frame, EVERYTHING in the BRAT can be replaced for well under $2000. if you look around and can do the work yourself, except upholstery and paint (that's why the higher price for an acceptable restoration). We aren't talking about a 100 point car, they never were, even when new. (body panels never fit perfect, cheap plastics/foam, poor paint in unseen areas, etc.) I have seen them sell for triple that on eBay... to the right buyer. Strike your best deal and pick at it... you'll end up with an awesome one-of-a-kind.
  16. Winked out by an unknowing and more powerful machine. Sorry it didn't get saved
  17. Triumph Auto Glass was able to supply branny new glass for my '78... the first one had a wave and they came back and replaced it. I supplied a branny new gasket, which they had difficuly getting, so everything worked out. BE SURE to have them install it... it ain't easy. They have done several for me. I have bad luck with glass.
  18. Contact JLow03 on NASIOC - NESIC. He can provide the details and pictures. His brother found it in a yard near Baltimore.
  19. Have you ever given them a half a chance??? At WBM I think the BRATs were a HUGE hit. Many of them LOVE the old cars as much as we do and quite frankly, I have a few really good friends over there that I really like. They have been to my home and I have been to their homes. Yeah, they have some downright awesome cars, but they have the same passion we do. Subarus. Money has nothing to do with it, it's respect and love of the brand, trust me on that. Lighten up Paul.
  20. Priceless. I wanted to buy an "old car" to putter back and forth to work and go to old car meets/cruises etc.. I was going to buy a Jeepster, cute as heck they are. Then I came across the '78 BRAT and remembered a time looooooong ago the joy and fun I had with that trucklet. Self, I said, buy it, so I did. And another and another, then the Baja. Out of the 4, I drive the '86 daily, I LOVE that BRAT! I have to say, I belonged to an old car club and drove my "old car" to a meeting in a blizzard... everyone else's old car was at home. Attendance was rather thin that night I bought them to DRIVE and they still snags trophies! Between the 2, we got 5 awards this past season! To me they are best!
  21. Here it is: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1177976 It's tough, but I would grab it if I had that model, it looks like a gold mine for hardware. What exactly is it? My guess is '73-4?
  22. This was posted on the NASIOC - NESIC forum: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v330/JLav211/IMG_2618.jpg?t=1168721206 It's in Worcester, MA and looks really tough, but I'm sure some things could be of use?
  23. No, that would be the Wicked Big(ger) Meet, or "WBM" where over 700 Subies of ALL models were welcome and showed up (my old school were loved!). It was the kind of meet where a big deal was made of a Justy. (Get it Andrew?) BTW, "rice" is not common practice
  24. What do they use on the roads to melt snow that doesn't rust the cars? We got a "dusting" back in December and afterward the salt was thicker than the snow it was intended to melt, WTF?! I can bring it to ol' Duval's attention that old cars are getting eaten alive and maybe we can find it in the budget... less in the junkyards and hang onto the more affordable older cars?
  25. Changed out the alternator, all is well! Takes a bit of warming to kick down though, I can live with that. Thanks! Happy New Year!
