  1. My car and the ones sold here in Germany have an uncontrolled cat (named U-Kat in Germany) without ECU. Even the the EA82T with ECU just have an uncontrolled cat. And the taxation of an uncontrolled cat is basically the same as without any cat But this EA82T car has an later installed controlled cat with oxygen sensor (named G-Kat) with Euro2 norm. So this isn't a stock car, but a modified one. And for an G-Kat you need an ECU, without ECU no G-Kat and therefore high taxes. So I have to modify my car and install the ECU + corresponding systems. So far, many thanks for all your help!! It helps me very much!! I'm currently thinking which of the two options will be better: changing the whole engine or just the fuel injection system. Another important point is that the tax of the turbo charged engine will be the same because the taxation depends on the capacity of the engine and not on the power! Another illogical and crazy point of the german taxation system... So, has anyone an idea about the gasoline consumption of the EA82T compared to EA82? I think I will go with swapping the whole engine. I have the service manuals with all eletrical wiring and so on for EA82 and EA82T. @Snowman Do you know what the difference in the final gear ratios is? Thanks a lot @all one more time! greetings Stefan
  2. Yes, I would only need the fuel injection together with the catalyst, but wouldn't this simple change lead to trouble with the ECU? My engine does only have some 90 hp, the turbo one some 120 hp. So is the only difference between EA82 and EA82 the turbo charger and the engine itself + ECU is identical? I don't know any EA82 with ECU and I think they weren't sold here in Germany, only with carburetor, so I don't have any information about the ECU controlled engines. So, the main question: Could I use the EA82T ECU with an EA82 engine? I think the installation of the fuel injection system would be fairly simple and quicker than the change of the whole engine, transmission and so on and I like this idea much better. Thanks for this hint!
  3. Hmm, the turbo car is not in a very good condition as far as I know (rust, needed repairs - axles, brakes and so on). And it doesn't have a sun roof - this is important in the summer without air condition BTW: What should be the difference on the cossmember?
  4. I have a "problem": Here in Germany we have a very high car tax for cars without catalyst (some green ideology - without any words). Since I have an EA82 with carburetor I pay a tax of 350 Euro/year. Now I have the possibilty to get a car with an EA82T with regulated catalyst (this catalyst was installed afterwards) for which I would only pay 130 Euro. So I would save 220 Euro a year. Much money for me! So I now have the question how simple is the conversion from EA82 to EA82T? I have read that the axles are different or better have more Splines. This is bad since I have some new axles for EA82 and the EA82T ones are bad. So I don't like the idea of changing the axles. Would it be possible to use the old EA82 transmission and axles with the EA82T engine? Or is the EA82 transmission + axles too weak for EA82T? And if so, would it be poossible to use just the old wheel side of the axles (the part after the ball beraing) and combine it with the EA82T part of the axle? Has anyone an idea about my problem? And have you some additional remarks for the conversion? Thanks a lot!! Stefan
  5. Hello! I have the possibility to buy a Leone L1800 from 1989 (160.000 km) with hydro-pneumatic suspension and turbo charged (EA82T) for a few bucks (200 Euro). I already own a L1800 from 1986 (normal EA82) and love the cars, but I'm a bit sceptical with this hydro-pneumatic suspension. Is this system reliably? And is there anything I should have a look at? Would be nice if you could post a few impressions if you own a car with this system. Thanks & greetings from germany Stefan
  6. Hm, that should be right, there is no actuator in the driver door. Wouldn't be logic, I think it's only a mechanical switch which locks the other doors. So, I need another actuator then? Hm, this job could be done with an old one from another door I think.
  7. Hi! I have an 1986 Subaru Leone with a manual central locking system (works if I lock the driver door with the key or the internal switch on the driver door). That works fine so far, but I really want a central locking system with a remote control. So, how can I upgrade my central locking system with a remote control? Are there any how-to's out there? The solution should be cheap because I didn't have much money... Unfortunately here in Germany there aren't many Leone's left and I don't find any infos about upgrading the system (at this point sorry for my bad english!). Any help would be great!! I would also do everything self-made if necessary. Thanks in advance!! Stefan
  8. Thanks! Yes, I mean "neutral" @MorganM I did the clutch replacement on myself! BUT: I have solved the problem today!! We had trouble with the lower connection of the gear switch to the transmission (to reconnect it when the transmission was reinsert) and in some way the gear switch was put under its holding plate and was therefore locked between this plate and the cardan shaft!! And when the car was driven, the cardan shaft was rubed against the gear switch! This made that anoying sounds!! So now, I have repaired everything and it works fine now! Thanks for your answers!!
  9. Hello! I have a "small" problem with my Subaru 1986 GL (for clarification since I'm from Germany: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/Literature/brochures/1986-g.jpg ) I had to change the clutch and for that the transmission must be removed. Now, the clutch works just fine, but there is a problem with the transmission now: During driving (all the same whether gas is given or the car only rolls) there are very loud sharpening/scratching noises. If the car is accelerated or drives uphill, the noises is nearly away, but as soon as it pushes or is it only rolls, the noises are very loud. In addition the second gerar often won't works: The lever goes into the position however the transmission is in the no-load operation. In 30% of all attempts the gear works. I assume that the problems is related to the gear shift and/or the connection of the shift lever to the transmission. Can someone confirm that or has a better idea? Thank you!! P.S.: Sorry for my bad english, I'am from Germany and english is therefore not my mother tongue!
  10. I have two problems (Leone 1800L Sedan, 1986): 1. The signal horn. It doesn't work anymore. Apperently it isn't the fuse, but I can't find that signal horn. Lukas said, that he has read that it is located in the mud guard. But in which? There are two... 2. My electric FWD/4WD switch doesn't work anymore, I can't activate the 4WD drive. has anyone an idea what could be the problem? Thanks a lot!!
  11. Hello everybody! It's great that I have found such a nice place with so much Subaru experts! Thanks a lot and greetings to Lukas (we have met in the german speaking subaru-community.net - but there are not really older Subarus). First let me introduce myself: I'm 24 years old and from Germany. I drive a Subaru 1800L GL Sedan from 1986 with about 105,000 km. The color is vintage red. I also own a Subaru 1800L DL Station (also 1986) in blue, but this car is in very bad shape. I'm currently removing all important parts for using it in my Sedan. Unlinke in Austria (apparently) there are some old Subarus left in Germany, but not very much. But mine will survive!! I have two questions for my Subaru in another Thread, and it would be nice, if someone could help me. Thanks! Oh, I will make some pictures too when my GL is repaired!
