  1. Anyone have A/C on their swapped car? It's blazing hot here and I want it back!
  2. Sweet.. I'd cruise it... but of course my Rx is painted like a car from a Japanese cartoon:banana: It needs more stickers
  3. I've got 13" under my 4" AA with 29s....
  4. Hi, I'm hear to disagree on a few things. Firstly, the headgasket issues. not all EJ25s have HG issues, and not all EJ22s don't. yeah the gen 1 EJ25 was a big problem, but it wasn't the motor, it was the headgasket design, and I'm sure that 90% of them are fixed by now. Ohh and no way am I going to buy that a turbo'd N/A car is going to be more reliable then a stock N/A car... BAH! And FYI... 130->165 is 35 HP so there! :-p As far as OBD 2 making the wiring harder or more extensive, bullarky! There are about 10 more wires for the OBD2... maybe 15 if you do the whole gas tank swap.... (fuel temp and such in the back) Actually between my SPFI swap and the EJ25... there were only about 25-30 wires more on the EJ... not that bad. other then that I agree... the 22 is MUCH easier to come by, and the parts to fix them are cheaper... but the 25 is also a good choice if you have the money... if you are going to be offroading it, I also wouldn't bother with a turbo'd 22, that'd be a mess just waiting to find you on the trail... In the end it just depends on how much you are willing to spend on the swap... I am biased on this subject. I did the EJ25 SOHC, AWD tranny with my stock LSD rear end and I love it. I'd also say that I'd skip the adapter plate... if my Rx was big a tough like my wagon... it'd out wheel it anyday. 90 HP low range locked center and LSD rear < 165 HP 3.9 AWD auto locking center and LSD rear Ohhh... and I can spin my tires in first..... all of them Just MHO
  5. I have.... I knew it was longer, so I just cut it down to a little under flush... then I welded it to the shaft from inside the gear, that way the bead was also less then flush with the end of the gear....
  6. Awesome... I <3 this thread. Anyway I cannot go mostly because I have no money or time to go.. really Russ, you are one to talk... how many CO meets did you miss when you were so close?
  7. Good Job Connie! Disc brakes are GREAT! I love mine!
  8. nononononono... its a 1987 Station wagon... loyaleish. The bumper is wide enough but I as just wondering if there is real anything under it or if I could take the cover off and weld some in and then replace the cover....
  9. DOH! It's my 87 SW... so third gen.
  10. Ouch... The summer a few years back Roni and I went to The Dragon in NC for the XT-6 meet we didn't have A/C.... I'll never do that again. Of course if I went anywhere I'd take the Rx since it gets slightly better MPG then the 6 on regular.... but of course it doesn't have A/C either:dead:
  11. I bought a small winch... I'd like to keep my stock front bumper... Thoughts? mounting tips? Thanks!
  12. I just found out.... about the rear 2wd vs 4wd.... heres a pic, the 2wd one is the new one... note the lower spring perch.
  13. sorry to be tardy to the party... I did it a really stupid way... worked great, but I should have put the ECU inside the cab.... I don't know what I was thinking.... Pictures make it look like there are a trillion wires going everywhere... but it's really not bad... Things you'll have to look out of are the dizzy and locations of things... BTW. there ARE mounting points for the ECU in the same location as the Loyale!... something I didn't know... Dizzy you have to change gears and cut a mounting point off of it... cake. Good luck:banana:
  14. Hey... speak for yourself:-p And actually IIRC the last meet we had here in CO with AWD had about 4-5 boards... Lots of DSM and Colbalts seemed to show as well as a few Audis and a Ferrari! Anyway, yeah... organize it, and just cross post... cake.
  15. FI FTW... Wiring is not that hard, and carbs just suck... no, thats how they work.....
  16. Thats true but typically a corroded CTS will cause a no start issue... I'm more in the ignition department. When you ditch the coil(I run an accel BTW) also check the capacitor on the negative lead. If it is the roundy can type, you might also see if you can find the little boxy type(very technical) Some times the little can types can go out causing a bad ground or poor coil charging.... the boxy type is a better design.... As far as your boost light, thats controlled by one of the two coney shaped thingys bolted to the PS strut tower... ok, time for sleep.
  17. My Rx with the EJ251 is running my stock single row radiator! (course I gutted the A/C)
  18. plus the ER will bolt up with little issue... if I was going to swap my wagon, I'd do an ER27 OVER an EJ22.... I don't want to have to deal with the whole plate thing because I prefer my tranny.
  19. The best way to do your drum brakes is to get a disc conversion... no, really!
  20. BAH! thats what hammers are for! I would think that the bigger problem with the fenders would be the slope. Loyale fenders are rather level where as the Xt's are at a 20 degree angle or so.... I just don't see it working... would be sweet, and if it was easy, my wagon would be an XT wagon, but I'm just not optimistic.... Now, someone do it and show me how!
  21. BAH! I did the SPFI swap on my old BRAT and it was great.... but then I like driving up hills too:dead: Its a real cake swap, and I say totally worth it if you like: going up steep hills, getting good MPG, having good power with little work.... and so on and so on. Only problem I had is of I was going over 80 MPH and floored it, the temp would rise until I backed off, which ment the car would slow down... not that it went much over 80 anyway:lol:
