  1. I have a yellow top in my 6 because the yellow battery IS faster... and my cars yellow too:banana: I have a good sized stereo and with my fog lights and the electronic PS I put quite a load on it. Plus I can listen to my big stereo at full power for hours with the car off and not have to worry about it not getting home. I'll probably get yellow tops for my ea82s soon:headbang:
  2. Yes, it will. Jeff... "a lot" is two.....count them... TWO WORDS and "lot" is spelled with one "l" As far as your car losing torque with the bigger exhaust, what it might have lost in torque, it made up for in top end... so stop complaining.
  3. No problem... No carpet. Plus he used a good gauge of wire, and I used 14 gauge to power it:banana:
  4. Noss's wagon seizedish the turbo and boiled the oil till it had no vescosity left, that why it got a knock. I run rotella T diesel oil in my Rx... 15W-40 Works great, shut up the lifters... smells a bit foul when it burns:-\
  5. Rigged it:banana: The ECU wasn't grounding the pump OR thhe pump relay, so I told Rick to ground both. The pump now runs when ever the key is in the run position.
  6. +11ty thousand:banana: Just drive the damn thing, keep the Rx and make it a weekend warrior. EJ22 FTW... then after its good, turbo it!
  7. ok then. Hate to point this out, but the BRAT was made by Subaru... .and IIRC they haven't made them in the last 20 years..... I've had a pretty decent BRAT, SPFI'd it even, but I was a bit too tall for it and sold it on Ebay. Got a good amount for it, some mighht even say too much, but in the end, old Subarus are only worth so much.
  8. You dont have to be sarcastic geeze. I also wouldnt call my car half a$$ed either, thanks. You should chill, I was just adding what I have done you don't have to be all hurt that not everyone does everything exactly the way you would do it. I dont know about you, but my car is an old Subaru. I paid $200 for it and honestly, I don't expect it to gain much value. What I do halfa$$ed is my business and I dont need some E-thug telling me how wrong I am that I should just scrap it. You messed with the EGR system? great. awsome. I dont care at all, but if you feel free to make fun of others choices on how to mod their old Subaru you leave yourself open for some one like you to show up and tell you how wrong you are. You took off the EGR? Geeze, why not just rip the old pump off why your at it, thats not important either!
  9. Just my thoughts: I've done this to two cars now, my 87 GL SW and a 84 BRAT. Both times I was really lazy so I built a harness from scratch Vs pulling the whole thing:lol: I also never hooked up the neutral switch OR the speed sensor. The cruise works in my SW still. I also drove my SW for about a month without an O2. it got marginal MPG and smoked going downhills:-\ I used the wiring diagram found in the addendium of my Haynes manual. I used parts from a 94 loyale on the SW with a fuel pump from a turbo wagon... on the BRAT I got mystery parts from zeke's wagon that I dont remember the year of.... but hey, free parts:banana: On the wagon I used all 14 gauge wire, which made the harness HUGE. On the Brat I used mostly 16 gauge wire, which helped and 14 for the power and other major wires. On Ricks XT wagon I used 18 gauge wire with 14 gauge mains, this worked best for harness size and useageynessdom. ok then
  10. Also, just to note... the XT steering wheel WILL NOT fit any other 80s car. The spline is different... just FYI:mad:
  11. did the smoke come in through the vents? basically what he said^^ check the fuses, links and then go from there... I'm not sure if the turning issue is part of it...
  12. Like said the sedan is not really wanted, its less of an Rx and more of a fancy sedan but for $100 I'd be all over it:banana: I got my 88 Rx coupe for $400 and $3 later it ran.... well thats what I call it:lol: As far as the rear spoiler goes, I've never looked but I think you are right to assume that the thing just like peels off. Pop the trunk first to double check but if thats all clear go to town on it. a little goo be gone of lighter fluid will clean up the mess nicely. Pics FTW!
  13. I also might note that there are a few of us local to you that also have Rx's... like me, but mine is an 88. You have an 85? I had no clue that they made them then! so you can already see I'll be no help. How do you know its an Rx? is it a sedan, coupe?
  14. Copied and pasted for a second opinion, or rather just more opinions Ok, So Rick put a XT4 into a 2nd gen wagon. and the fuel pump doesnt run. The circuit is rather basic, switched power from the fuse box signals the relay then grounds through the computer.. That switches Green fusable link constant power, connecting to one side of the fuel pump. The fuel pump is also grounded through the computer. I've checked the computer grounds about 4 times, they are all good. Problem is that the computer is not grounding the relay OR the pump. Oddities: ~The car ran off magic for a total of about 30 seconds. ~When you put power to the car, the ECU shoots out a code 42 (Idle switch) instantly, without running. Basically if I ground out the switch side of the relay AND the ground to the fuel pump, the pump will run. My though is that the ECU might be bad. Rick reports the car he got thhe setup from had 180k miles and no body damage and what looked to be some new parts. The other thought is that the wiring went south somewhere, worst case, can I just ground both and let the pump run? Any thoughts on a bad ECU?
  15. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=65790 FTW... but I only kinda agree.
  16. Mine had ATF in it when I got it, and the pump leaked rather bad, but then I broke it anyway and got a new one. Another thing I noticed when it was cold out, the thicker ATF made the pump bog and one could overrun it rather easily, and thats even with the fluid heater. It also drew a huge amount of amps when it was cold, but that also might have been the brushes going:-\
  17. Did you check for Vac leaks? check the PCV and the brake booster, it sounds big... if it heats up and runs ok then there are 2 things to check. the MAF and the coolant temp sensor. Check both plugs for corosion and chacke the MAF for wires.... you might even check the TPS connector, but my money is on the CTS personally.
