  1. Ok... As far as the ise thing, I dount it, I haven't made any river crossing recently, I DID change the gear oil earlier this year and it wasn't cold enough for frost let alone ice.... The tranny is a D/R not a PB... thats how I got it into Lo:rolleyes: I havent been driving around in 4wd either, its been dry here. I doubt its the wheels locked or the brakes... I know it doesnt move and if that was the only issue I might heavily suspect that, but my HUGE problem is that its stuck in gear... My 2 big Ideas right now are this: Noss Idea: Broken shift fork jammed in the gears... He had this happen to a Civic he beat the hell out of:grin:. His solution is new tranny Simmions(old auto guy) ideea: The tranny "misgated" due to old bushings and actually got stuck between 4th and reverse.... His solution is to get to the real shift linkages in the tranny and knock some sence into it. Any thoughts on that?
  2. .....Move. Get in my wagon this morning, try to back it down the drive, shift it into reverse(but it might be in 4th hard to tell) and release the clutch.... car stalls.... Try to get it out of gear... shifter wont move at all... so I restart, rev the ************ out of it, dump the clutch... stall... restart, shove into LO rev it up dump clutch, stall. Hill holder cable is in one piece, tried pounding on the shifter linkage from under the wagon with a hammer, wont budge... I cannot get it out of gear... or to even move down the drive with the clutch in.... I drove it around last night and parked it here... Whats going on!?!
  3. I say go old school, but I'm kinda biased.... I picked up a 87 D/R wagon here in CO in Febuary or so, but mine has like 180K on it. Baught the car for $200 and the first thing I really did was SPFI it... HIGHLY RECOMMENED, the fuel injection has really saved me tons of headaches, ditch the carb, go EFI. Then I got a 4" lift and 15" rims (from AA)and 29"ish tires. I have plenty of power in the mountians for climbing and I just took it wheeling and it went well. The big perk of old school is its readily available and cheap. I probably, including the price of the car have about $1500 into my wagon, and I love it. The forrester could be done, but you might want to get in touch with "forresterranger" hes got the pimpest forrester around as far as I know, but I'm sure hes got tons into that thing, but its really cool.
  4. Dude, Way to be on time... you were ten ****************************************************************************************************************ing minutes away at 10:45.... The meet was supposed to leave at 10...Dude we waited 30 minutes and took off.... And we waited for you at the trail head for 10 *******************************************************ing minutes, but since we were in the canyon already I didnt actually know what the *************************************************** you were saying *******************************************. Next time... try calling at like you know 1015 or so to say you'll be 45 ***********************************************ing minutes late, you ****************************************!!!!!!!11111111!
  5. any idea what the threads are anyone? Maybe I can get an adapter and move my sender up there.... looks safer
  6. Dude... so we have like 9-10 days left to do this and yet... no skid plate prices..... pics or nothing... sorry to be rude but your draggin @$$, if you want me to buy something its easier for me to A. see it and B. know how much it costs. Thanks,
  7. Hey, Wags lifted and lsd'd and I'm lookin to break it since my large shipment of snow is on backorder. Me, Noss(blownbimer) in his Toy, and Ricko in his BRAT are to Left Hand canyon to check it out. Never been there, but I'd like to play around a bit. I hear theres a campground at the base so I'll bring some dogs and the means to cook them... and hopefully a spatula this time. Anyhoo I'm thinking that well all meet up at SUPER RUPAIR in Boulder at 10 AM.... THIS SUNDAY as in tomarrow the 27th http://www.superrupair.com/ basically go down 36 to the north end of boulder... actually leaving boulder... turn left on yarmouth and go to the end... its on the right.... not sure if they care if we take over there lot, but they should be closed:grin: We'll leave SR at about 10:15ish and head to the trail. Bring what you need, I have no idea what to expect but I figure its close enough to tow my scraps home. http://www.4x4trails.net/db_view_trail.php?trailNum=81
  8. I say either junk or float issues... Next time it happens first try pumping the gas a few times, then starting... or holding the throttle open then sratring... see which way it works... if niether does, get out and see if the evil carb is making any noise.... then convert to SPFI:grin:
  9. Mine gets like 26 pre calc... I actually had an issue where I had been running my SPFI O2 sensor free, then I put one in and I got like 80 miles to that tank where I usually get almost 300.... reset the comp and its back to where it was! My wagon rocks:brow:
  10. I only have a few pics... most of them are compairing the fron of my lowered 6 to the wagon.... wag is over the front of the 6:brow: I'll go wheelin Sunday and take some pics and see what turns up
  11. Hey.... I've done a similar swap but my car is FWD and stayed that way. Some of the XT4 stuff will work, but most of it will NOT... The pedal set will and most of the interior pieces, BUT Like the clutch cabele will have to be made to work and the shift linkanges are better gotten from a 6. I did it the wrong way and tried to piece my junk togather from a few yard cars. I also kinda have the tendancy to make things work reguardless of if they should or not. aka. Ghetto Rig. Anyhoo to take care of the tranny electronics I've rigged an interior switch to make my car "shift" into drive and park. As far as I know you MUST rig it in some way, hook it up, what ever. The car will run if you use the stock position sensor and put it in the park/nuteral spot, but it will stall cuz the IAC circuit wont work correctly... also the car wont go full fuel when you romp on it. On my car the Power light still works and to get full fuel since it thinks its in drive. I've also rigged it so it kinda thinks its in nuteral too so I dont have to touch anything to start it. In hindsight, I would done it differently as my cruise no longer works... realy tough on those "short" trips out to The Dragon. Also, as far as I know the FT4wd XT6 MT5 doesnt really care to be run either with the diff lock on or in FWD mode for too long, just get your stuff and do it right.
  12. Why cant you make it? Too far? The best part about the mini 6 meet is that me and Roni were the first ones to get there..... Dave and Melis(leakingoil) were the LAST... and I'm sure they were the closest.... Anyone west coast going other then jeff-o and me Roni Rick and noss? Styles? anyone?
  13. Welcome!! Not all of us are hard core offroaders:drunk: Noss has a pimp lowered turbo wagon... so does subaru styles and thats also a good way to go... or you can just drive it and have a fun.... for more fun, get a conical filter for it:brow: That way you can hear the waste gate really good and scare Civics.
  14. I cant do middle of the week... some of us have to work you know:rolleyes: I'd probably take the 6 if you have a date set that I can make
  15. I did it!!! I did the SPFI swap so I needed one... went to napa got the o2 and bung... used a hole saw and cut a bung hole, then used a socket to keep the bung in place while I welded it on...... works good
  16. pics of the new and improved skid plate might convence me to buy it.... I have lots of your other stuff might as well get the skid plate... depending on how it looks and if the price is right:brow:
  17. 'specially since the XT is higher then Ricks BRAT.... Hey Rico, how come I never get invited on these expeditions? I have a lifted Ru....
  18. Get the 6!!! I want an RX right now, but thats only cuz I have a 6.... The 6 is the best, even auto I had a blast with mine. Now 5 speed, you'd have to have a pretty heavily modded EA82 to beat mine where mines mostly stock. Plus nothing gets looks like the craaaaaaazyy wedge!
  19. HEY! So when are you gonna get this thing fixed? My wagons ready to rock, Ricks willing to break his $h1t... We gotta meet up, go wheelin, take pics, and you can get that carb from me if you still want it....
  20. Not to highjack, but whats the 10 minute trick to get the rear axles out quickly? I have no slack.... you guys just pulling the diff or what?
  21. Hey hey hey... it was Hucks fault... I was just keeping up with him. I'll go again because I have the SUPER DELUX NASIOC JAPANESE LISENCE PLATE for longest distance traveled. W000!!!1!1 I just dont want to ship it. If Roni Drives or if Jeffs car actually makes it, maybe they can take it off my hands... or I'll just get it back to the impreza peoples. For those worried about the distance, I took my XT-6 with like 150kish from CO to NC.... round trip with stops at the Oz museam and the big arch in St Louis was about 3K miles... I only had one issue which was a long time coming btw.... (alt was the last thing on the "list of things I haven't replaced") Theres always the perks of being faster then the SVXes or trailing wrxes... or yelling at Austin(xt6 austin) to not run over the bikes:brow: and stay on his side of the road. Gotta be careful though... something seems to get broken every time.
  22. RICK!!!! Wheres ricks flat XT-T? I'd find it but it seems my computers really crappy tonight
