  1. I'd like to agree with shady on this one, but I had a mt so it MIGHT be different. On my car the bolt that was innermost on the tranny mount... the bolt that went through the mounting plate, and the tranny mount was, indeed, longer then the other tow bolts. I would assume that the 3at would still have a rubber mounted tranny crossmember.
  2. Well that was short lived..... It started making a screeching noise today, so I pulled the fuse:banghead: Its cool out so my trips to work and back were no issue without a fan
  3. ok. I think I'm the one thats had the most trouble with the lift... and so far its getting better and shady is working with me to make things right.... All and all I LOVE my lift, its pimp. As far as the process goes... I'd say have two big jacks handy... and two jack stands and a few big blocks of wood to support the engine and tranny. First the rear is CAKE. You can do it VERY quickly, its VERY straight forward and you really only need 1 jack, 1 stand and a drunk buddy willing to jump on your brake drum.... Cake. The front is the issue. The biggest recommendation That I can make is to go ahead and pull the tranny mount totally out of the car. I pulled the strut rod at the arm side, and you have to pull the tree other bolts anyhoo, so just take it out and match it up to the tranny drop plates and see how well it lines up. These parts ARE the Hardest part of the lift, and once you get them done, the rest is a walk in the park. Also when you have them out check for interferance in the support rods on the block to the mouint its self... mine had this issue, but a bit of rage and a hammer and that was no longer an issue. Also, drain your coolant and remove your radiator hoses.... I didnt do this..... getting the lower off with less room when its bound against itsself, is a PITA... also you may want to take off your spedo cable. Also be warned that when you go through the instructions and get to the part when you take your steering link apart.... Your gonna get a suprise.... Mine was stubborn so I was hammering it off(lightly) and that was the las link holding the car to the engine/tranny... so when I got it off the car lept into the air and nearly gave me a heart attack... I thought I was screwed. Everything else went easy uppers are cake.. I love the quality and look to the parts and they are really holding up so far. I got AA stickers on both sides of my car, and I get thumbs up when I drive it on its 29's.... Congrats on your purchase. Ok. I'm done
  4. Horray for tha Luk clutch... they are good quality.... Good job getting it in and runnin fine again! Wagons Rock
  5. also on your "I can accel lightly, but no mashing" issue... Check the MAF... make sure its got the wires... and its plugged in... and the hose clamps on it are snug......
  6. I just did this to mine today... due to the lifty ness.... I'm using the stock electric fan... wired it up so it runs when ever the key is in the run position cuz I fear I would forget to turn it on....... Works good, up hill even.....
  7. I'm running AA rims.... Seems to still be working ok with the washers.
  8. bump for people answering Ronis questions.... I'll try to bring lots o meat, but we need chips and soda too... and po..ta...to salad and all kindas of stuff..... I'll bring general amounts of meat, but a general idea would be great.... also if you want to bring your own meat... I'm not gonna stop you.
  9. Washers fixed it... I'll try to get some pics up if anyone wants any..... Still real close, but it no longer touches.
  10. Its rubbing on of the front bolts of the rear suspension... looks like a pivot point of the rear... I actually had very little bashing to do... hour and a half at most..... I got washers today, I'll put them on tomarrow and tell you guys if it all worked out... I got some zinc coated jobs from McGuckins
  11. See... Thats what I said... but Noss thinks thats a bad idea... (which is odd... him being the MASTER of bad ideas) It IS going to chew through the tire though.. it makes a ton of noise and it'll wear into the tread.... Thanks for the quick responce....
  12. Hey peeps... I finally got my tires on last night but! I have a slight issue. I've got my 87 spfi wagon with 4" lift and 15" AA Wheels with 235/75R15 libs.... VERY nice looking, what Dr. K needs, anyways... they hit a bolt on the front of the rear suspension just slightly, but at all times. My current solution is to go to the hardware store and get some "wheel offset spacers" (aka washers) and off set it out... any other less ghetto ideas?
  13. can anyone make me a pic of the top and how its supposed to face? That other pic is very helpful firstsubaruglwagon thanks! Now I just need the top so I can get these things in correctly.
  14. ok... mine sooo do not that the letters on them, but! I noticed that they are kinda triangularly shaped, but more kinda arrowish... Can anyone give me an idea which way goes towards the front of the car? I'mm make sure that they are that direction and if the camber still looks bad, I'll swap them. The camber on one side right now looks good, but the other side is pretty bad........ \-----| .......Maybe someone can put arrows on DrKrazy's pic of "to the front of car" and "engine is over there" Thanks guys... Hey shady whats the word on my 5th wheels... and what about the shifter protector blocks? Chux my engine fan almost touches the skid plate in front and the rad... in fact when I accelerate hard, you can hear the fan eating its self...... If I pitch it back, wont it always be hitting... my pitch rod is about 2" too short now it seems
  15. Shady... on the front top strut extensions....where is the L and R located exactly... do you have a pic on how they are supposed to be oriented? Thanks
  16. Sounds like a fueling issue... the tech thought it was too rich at 36 psi so he knocked it all the way down to 20? Try pumping it up 2-4 psi at a time and see if that helps...
  17. 120 sounds low.... Did you test it warm or cold? My temp gauge has changed over the years... When it first was AT it read about the 3/4 mark.... Then I got the mt and it went to 1/2, then I changed the head gaskets (went byebye) and redid the cooling system and added the hood scoop... now it chills at the 1/4 mark. anywhere 1/4-1/2 is ok.... if its higher you probably need cooling system work... hoses, pump, T-stat, RAD cap or simply a flush with some new juice....
  18. Torque it till you fart and back it off a quarter.
  19. Aww crap.... where exactly is it printed at? I totally missed that. Also by kick stopper I really ment the anti pitch rod, the rear engine mount bar thing on the top... its too short now. Also, MTNMAN... what did you do about the shifter? Mine pops the cover off when I go into 1,3,5 or 4wd lo. Thanks and I hope my crazy "I really don't know what the hell I'm doing" helps others:drunk:
  20. Another question,... What up with my kick stopper now? is it removal time, or is there something I can do to keep it? Thanks
  21. Agreed... I actually pulled mine all the way out with the mount and torsion/strut rod attached to compair the two sides since I thought that was what I had done. I had gotten the two sides in right, but they just simply didnt line up at all. The mount plates on the ground in front of me with the tranny lift plates on top... the holes were not in the right place, I had to customize them... I know that theres no such thing as a cheap bolt on kit, but come on, I had to make the part work, there was simply no other way. Thats my $.02... I just think for the money the parts could have been right.... but I still feel like I got a good deal, and most everything else went on with no issues. Also, Dr. Krazy... once you get your lift if you have any troubles, PM me and I'll get you my cell number and if you need advice I can help you... My other issue why it took me so long because Noss(blownbimer) parked his turbo wagon in front of mine to lower it and after the axle fell apart... he turned my G rated neighborhood into a strictly R rated F-bomb infested neighborhood... So I stopped the lift to go get his ride back into one three wheel drive piece:rolleyes:
  22. Sooo.... Hey where you do you get that black mesh stuff? Does it work well? Also, oddcomppp.... are what you are seeing... does it have to do with fueling? peace
  23. ok... I dont know how mtnman did it so well, maybe I'm just an idiot but I had quite a few issues to note... First, back to what I said... check over the instructions again and make sure they are totally right as some things didnt come to pass.. like the suggestion that you MAY need new rad hoses... yeah, you need them. Also you might note to disconnect the battery to engine and trans to frame grounds.... broke those. I got the car apart with no issues other then the EVIL strut rod mount on one side, but I must say that the rear of the car goes togather like a dream, very simple. Only suggestion I have back there is to like maybe weld the lower new bolts going in throught the back side... its a PITA to get a wrench back there once the struts in place. other then that rear rocked... got it in in like 30 minutes... The front however.... well now here we go. First the engine lift blocks worked fine. A little convencing and it went right in. My big issue and I also called you for fun and probably sounded disgruntled, but I was working on it at the time... was the transmission crossmember mounty thingy.. looks like you changed the design recently and welded them all togather so instead of 6 you have 1 really big thing. Issue A.... the metal that held them all togather was too low and hit the mount so I had to beat the S&$#t out of it. Second... THEY WERE NOT LINED UP. Other people doing thins should make sure and take the mount all the way out and match it up to the crossmember piece and make sure they line up... it took me forever to realize that it wasnt just me that the bolt wasnt threading... the hole simply wasn't close. I drilled REALLY big holes in the one that didnt line up(on both sides) and beat the living h311 out of them. Ok, other things... I thought that you had made this to correct the camber issues in the kit... is that true and I didnt put mine in right? or is my Super Camber here to stay? I had no clue how to put them in... theres no picture or anything in the instructions of how its supposed to go... so I thought about it(didnt work) and guessed. I also had an issue with the steering link... I took the bolts out and lined up the slot on the car side and put the bolt in then went to the other side and the end of the link just gets to the slot... about 1/2" too short or so. Also, did you need the old one back? I also need the shifter guard plate dropper thingys as well, I didnt get any. Ok, for those of you reading that got this lift and are now either thinking I'm nuts or winey, or are scared. Dont fret... I LOVE how fricken HUGE my wagon is sitting in the garage, very nice. I also might have gotten the defects somehow, so the rest of you are ok... and the parts are VERY NICE looking, very well made... good kit for sure, just needs a little tweak here and there to make it AWSOME.
  24. Ok... I already have 2 suggestions...... 1. number the pages in the instruction manual... really.. one of my pages is upside down and not numbered so I have no idea where it goes(but I'll manage:rolleyes:) 2. provide pics of the parts on the checklist page. You have 8 things... 7 of them are either "blocks" or "extensions"... I have a good idea what the bigger parts are, but if you had pics I could make sure and use the right bolts with the right blocks.
  25. I'd be in too.... Maybe break them apart as well... a basic Subaru GL shirt with a very basic owners manual pics of the sedan, wagon and three door would be pimp. I can also never get enough XT-6 shirts.
