Will, clear your box 'o PMs -
No, I'm not talking about the hot air induction flapper, theres a solenoid mounted to the front left side of the air "box".

Bump for intrest... Also I looked at it... whats about the thing attached to the stock tube, is that the purge control solenoid valve? What do I do with all the little vac tubes, drill holes, add RTV? Thanks again
-
80's, two door, trunk?..... sounds like an XT.... did it have popups? Like said the SVX is a subaru everyone will come back with, "What the thing with the strange windows" Where as the XT draws the "What the hell is that? Subaru?" crowd. XT's rock BTW, you should buy it.
-
Ok, I'll add my bit, which mostly has been said. A roof rack maybe two or three versions, mounts to the stock rack, mounts to the windows, has a place for a tire, donesnt have a place for a tire. Rear door tire mounts. Bumpers, diff plates all that. Wide body kits would be sooo cool... I also think a snorkel would be great. Thats all
-
Ok, but what do you do with all the little vac lines? And I assume that I'll have to run all new PCV lines to the intake tube. Thanks for the help, I kinda wanna... well... rice it a bit with a bit conical filter on my stock carb wagon... Well, its not totally stock, them turbo hubcaps probably add like 3 horse a piece:brow:

Hey, I coulda swore that I saw in someones sig that they have an SPFI tube on a carb..... Any idea who or how this might be done? Thanks
-
Ok, So I've already jumped off this bridge as it were.... I baught myself a yellow accel coil(since it was yellow) and put it in my car. It Idles much smoother, but with what you guys are saying I need to mount it vertically... Whats the best/easiest way of doint this? Using one bolt hole and turning the mount? I should also hit up Rick too cuz I baught him one for his B-day:banghead:

ok two points.... first in the ad it says 500 cfm flow rate... At WOT this this gonna be a burden on the engine. Second this is probably just a cabin fan/ marine fan for moving fresh air into a cabin of a small boat. Its got plastic innards, so if you wanna blow your money, put a screen between it and your engine just incase the engine wants to suck them little plastic fan blades down into it. Last thing I'm gonna say is if you want one of these cheap, and you go to yards a lot, take a look at some of the early Datsun/Nissan 280 ZX... Not the 70's Z's but the early 80's ZX... They used an IDENTICAL fan in their motors, in fact I have one I'm gonna put on my 70's Z. What they used it for though is since on a Z the exaust and intake are on the same side of the motor(straight 6) they have a slight vapor lock problem in the fuel rail. The cheap/easy/Ghetto solution that Nissian did was to mount one of these fans on the other side of the motor and have it blow air at the fuel rail. Fun right?

Dude, You need to clear out your box... I tore into the drivers side door and the lock cylinder didnt have the code on it.... any other place it might be?

Thats THREE in a row!

Yeah, these cars are like that... Abotu two years ago I broke my AT tranny and after about six months finding parts and what I needed, my 6 was back on the road, now with a 5-speed... later that week, the heads cracked. Damn car... I probably got to drive it about two months out of that entire year. But now its to the point where it doesnt break so much as most stuff is pretty new.. -
You have a PM:drunk:

$500 87 Turb-Wag Update
kingbobdole replied to froggymike's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
ok, a few points... Are you sure the olds not just gear oil? If it was tick happy someone might have tried to shut it up with gear oil. Auto to manual conversions are fairly easy, but make sure you get a tranny out of a turbo... and make sure its got the same final gear. The axles are the same turbo for turbo, but not 2wd or non turbos. Also, strange color ATF in your tranny usually means that the transmission oil cooler in the rad is leaking... mixing coolant and ATF, you might need a new radiator too. -
What ever happened to Dave? I baught a pulley, and he was gonna give me a ride, but we never hooked up..... Last time I talked to him it seems as though he was kinda frustrated with the limits of the car....

kingbobdole replied to tailgatewagon's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Not to be a monkey but.... It also says that it is a "Loyale"... I didnt think that loyales came about till much later... I know they are basically the same, but your computer seems to be adding more info then poss. originally included. -
quick auto tranny question
kingbobdole replied to hooziewhatsit's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Its been a while since I've done a TC, but all I can remember is just slidin it on the shaft, wiggling it a bit and having it lock into place.... -
Yeah, What the hell? Someone offers you a free non stolen car with title, and you say no? You get picky? comeon, you can tinker with it, and if you dont want to spend the $$ to make the car run and then sell it for like $1k, you can part it and make the money. Jeeze, I'd start towing it away before the guy changed his mind.
-
One thing you might consider is the seals... XT-6 Cybrid P/S systems use a more mineral oil based fluid and they really hate the ATF.... Direct swap=leaky rack.

how gutless should it be?
kingbobdole replied to Meeky Moose's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Hey, I've got a 87 carbbed D/R five speed in Colorado... It's not the slowest thing I've ever driven, but damn, its close. The trick to beating cars if you really wanna race them in your 80s wagon is to wait till it snows and put it in lo:drunk: Just kidding, kinda...... -
tornado thingy-ma-widget
kingbobdole replied to gunslinger's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Hey, I actually discovered that I had one jammed into my intake from when I baught my car four years ago, so these things are not new, they just started selling them at checker/schucks what have you. I discovered it about 1 year into owning the car. XT-6 BTW and it got an avreage MPG of about 28, which is par for a auto 2wd XT-6. Now I've got ht e trans switched over, it gets like 20-22, the "sprial MAXX" is still in the intake and I cannot imagine it getting much worse MPG, but somewhere in the back of my mind, I think it makes the car slightly fastAR..... I should probably pull it out, its useless. -
Someone told me if you take a rear LSD and put it in the front (the RX style clutch pack) that it would not function correctly because it would be spinning in the oppisite direction... I never really cared at the time as I really have no urge to pull my car apart again at the moment, but why would that be? I also would like a front lsd, but I'm FWD so it would be more fun.
