  2. There is a procedure. It involves connecting two normally open wires under the drivers dash for a few seconds. I don't exactly remember what color the wires are. I think they are white. This was one of the first things I did to my brat, as well. I'll dig into my fsm when I get home if someone doesn't beat me to the punch.
  3. Your metal work is pretty good. Did you ever compete in Skills USA in High school?
  4. Assuming you are gonna use EA81 stuff. Here's what I had issues with. The biggest issue is the crossmember. They are different across manual and power racks. To bolt up a power rack I had to grind it down on one side to be able to use it. Also the steering joint is different, I believe. I just welded an extension on mine and that seemed to work ok. Also need the extended thermostat housing. I found power steering to rob a ton of power from my brat. Couple that with AC during the summer and it's almost painfully slow. EA81 power steering parts aren't the easiest to come by, either.
  5. A few updates... Here's how she sits currently: Did my manual swap this week. WAAAAY more fun to drive Here's some goodies I have acquired for it This thing has been taking up my time so progress has been slow
  6. Ultimately... The end of a relationship. Literally... Her boyfriend's bowling ball.
  7. Figure I'd resurrect this thread to show my rescueroo... My $500 XT6 After a half-hearted cleaning: Has a turbo hood, and the LF fender was replaced/repainted but I cant find any major body damage. Air suspension has been swapped for coils. Needs lots of love. We'll see what becomes of it.
  8. So. FWD and 4WD are essentially the same. I've seen some claims that the 4WD has a thicker shaft. But they interchange. I am lowering my brat. Yes I know. Lowering. What I'm concerned about is the overall compressed length. Will I be able to run with the axles fully compressed without causing any binding or burning up the diffs, etc. Thanks for the help
  9. NOOOO!!! My most sincerest condolences. This thing had always been an inspiration for me. Very sad to hear about your loss. That being said... Glad you're ok. C8S is right. You can't be replaced. I look forward to your next build as it will be just as awesome as always. I will keep my orbs peeled down here to see if one pops up.

  11. Why exactly do you say the 5speed isn't working out?
  12. The 3AT in two of my Brats have been fine. There are a few members who run them religiously here and they do fine. Don't abuse them and change the fluid at 25k intervals. Run an aux cooler if it's gonna get ragged on. Make sure the band is adjusted properly. To swap. All the obvious stuff. Plus a matching rear diff. Most (if not all autos) had 3.7 ratios, I've read that some came with 3.9. Also need the radius rod plates. They locate the trans crossmember and are different than the auto. The best bet is to source a donor car. It's a direct swap. And on wagons I believe the bracket for the DR lever isn't there. So that'll need to be fabbed or sourced as well. It's spot welded to the trans tunnel. Any more questions, just ask. Bout to do the swap on my turbo brat.
  13. Was out tinkering with my Brat and I snapped this pic for ya. Hope it helps!
  14. It is entirely different. I told you that on your other post. That's why I bought a whole new turbo distributor.
  15. So my distributor came in this week. Improved driveability tons. Going to get it insured through Haggertys this week for next to nothing. Need to figure out why the boost gauge is pegged. May need to lean on someone for some fsm Pics as mine is missing all the wiring diagrams. Anyway... scored this thing (a big deal down south where lambos are more common than brats) Subaru SnugTop with good seals and key! Traded a guy the motor from the orange thing for it. Happy with the look I hope to paint this thing all one color by the end of may. Thinking white as it's pretty forgiving with body damage.
  16. I just rammed a cost hanger in there repeatedly and kept at it with the air. Not much help. But that's what I did! It sucked.
  17. Awesome Brat. You pretty much stole this thing. Enjoy it. Previous owner was a board member. P.S you have a $100 bill waiting for you should you part with those center caps.
  18. So... the orange Brat is gone. Guy in Austin needed the quarter panel off it. Probably the only decent body panel on there. I ripped the front half of the lift off and stuck some 2WD struts under there. The lift was so carelessly thrown together. It was scary. Thinking I'm gonna cut a coil when I convert to MT Happy with progress so far. Have some parts coming for this thing. (Photography: not my calling in life)
  19. The civic advance was for my N/A Brat. They both share a similar Hitachi distributor. I could not find anything that looked remotely close to the turbo distributor.
  20. There is a How To section. USRM (ultimate Subaru repair manual)its further down the main page. I thought about rebuilding it myself. But it also retards timing under boost. I didn't want to take the risk with such a rare engine. I'm the one who found the 82' civic part. Works great! Also tried to contact Philbin multiple times. Never got a response.
  21. Good luck with the vacuum advance. I ended up buying a whole new distributor.
