  1. Sounds like a fun weekend! Good luck, and post lots of pics.
  2. This is the box you're looking for. Pull it off and you'll see 3 wires. Those are the fusible links. Should have 2 greens with a red one in between. Ignore the black. It's from an EA82T. (photo credit Turbone)
  3. Unless someone replaced your fusible link with something that doesn't belong: you're fine. Replace and learn something new. Fusible links are in front of the coil. Order it from Subaru or ask around for one. Hope its that simple. Let us know.
  4. So after some... um... forceful persuasion with the hanger. I still didn't have anything. So then surgery began... Here is what the inside of what I presume any gen 2 looks like... For science Then after some "careful" maneuvers we have this guy. After I beat it with a hammer and blew some more air through it; we achieved no blockage. Resulting in this. So to answer my question: "Yes, my gas tank REALLY was that clogged". And it is once again, by the good will of USMB members, that I didn't pull my hair out over a small problem. The gas is SUPER, SUPER dirty. The beautifully running EA81 wouldn't even idle. I had to play the two-foot-tango to keep it running when I test drove it. The Weber needs a rebuild, for sure. Thanks again. P.S. there may or may not be a piece of hanger broke off in the fuel line... and I may or may not ever get it out.
  5. Excellent. I shall try this when I get home. I'm pretty sure the pump needs a signal from the disty(?) to run the pump. I took that into account. Will report back with an update.
  6. Ok, I guess that I will have to pull the sender out. The gauge doesn't work, anyway.
  7. Your handle precedes you. The pump is hooked up to the larger of the 3 hard lines. The one in the middle of the tank, IIRC. The brat has been sitting since 2008, but I think the tank was drained.
  8. So today was the day I had planned to test drive Brat #2. I put 4 gallons in it. Turned the motor over longer than it should have taken to prime - no dice. "Ok, weak fuel pump." Swapped with a known working fuel pump and still nothing. New filters, so WTF? "That's alright; i'll just shoot a little compressed air to clean the crap out." 120psi and nothing moved at the pump inlet hose. "Really?" Then I take the hose off the tank and shoot air into it. Hardly any air moves through. I can hear it, but it ain't much. What in the world could this thing have in the hard lines to prevent 120psi from blowing it out. Is there a check valve in the tank that could be stuck? I'm at a loss here. A really disappointing thing to be held back by. I would like to have this thing registered before summer so I can drive it. Please suggest anything that could help, Thank you, guys.
  9. Ah, this one gets me every time. The piston screws into the caliper. C-clamp will no nothing but frustrate you. Use a pair of channel locks, or go buy the tool from a local auto parts store. They're cheap, and fit on the end of a 3/8" ratchet.
  10. I'm pretty lousy when it comes to documenting work that I do on this thing. It's back together now. I didn't get the chance to test fuel pump or anything else. After many hours; I have contained some non structural rust issues. Lots of wire wheeling, naval jelly, heavy primer, canned under-coat. Repeat. The battery tray is trimmed & fitted. Hopefully soon to be welded. Now onto my excuse for not using my VERY valuable time over winter break on the Brat. This is the shop my friends dad owns... I was surprised. I went to help him work on his 1980 Courier. All Snap-on tools. 200gal(?) compressor. It was beautiful. I'd never been inside a real shop, before. Always been a driveway kinda guy. His dad was really cool and gave me free reign over anything in the shop. To top it all of... they are right next to GasMonkey garage. I can stand at their fence and see what they're working on. Thus, I heard screaming V8's all day. I also spent the weekend swapping 4.3s between 4WD Blazers. The bell-housing bolts are an absolute nightmare to get to, and if you look at an S-10 forum... you will see that most pull the engine and trans together. That was done outside in freezing windy weather. I also wasn't paid. Although, I may be walking away with a 4L60-E (my dad's friend needs one) and an S&K socket set as payment. Have to go back this weekend. Fun fun.
  11. The wooden panel you replaced the particle board with.
  12. It's not quite as easy as just pulling the front axles. The front axles hold the hub and rotor. You would need to separate the the outer cup from the axle then, replace it and re install the 36mm castle nut, cone washer, and flat washer. Once all of that is done you will have "RWD" Not sure if anyone has done this, so I don't know how long it would hold up. But I don't see why it wouldn't work, as people blow front CVs and run in 4wd to get home. Best bet would to buy some axles to remove the outer cup on, and keep your good axles for when you feel like having FWD/4WD again.
  13. That looks mean. I think im more in love with the fading than an actual paint job. Nice one. Cant beat it for 1k.
  14. Have you fixed the camber problem, yet?
  15. Nice! I think I remember seeing this on CL. It was a great deal, from what I remember. The camber issue should be nothing more than the strut blocks in backwards, as suggested by others who saw it. Nice looking bumper. Looking forward to updates.
  16. The PCV valve is located almost directly behind the carb. Here is a picture of what it looks like (Credit Dinky26) Its the plastic piece that the cracked hose is on.
  17. It doesn't have to be. If you want to- you can. People have opinions on whether or not it's beneficial. Its up to you, really.
  18. My best bet is the PCV valve. Depending on how the PVC hoses are setup on the Weber,(if, at all) it's most likely PCV related. I wouldn't worry about it till it's on the brat. EGR just regulates exhaust gas to my understanding.
  19. So I met up with a board member and this happened Power racks Those were some much needed parts. Im on holiday break and hoping to make a little progress on this thing. Not having a welder is killing me. Everything is almost prepared for new metal. Anyhow, I figured id fix some smaller stuff... with my new parts collection. Also replaced the AC/Heater control panel... Finished results later.
