  1. That's sweet. Looks like you have some good panels to use for the Brat. Spare everything is always nice.
  2. You have a stripped hub or blown CV. Both are simple fixes once you have the parts. Once you replace whatever is broken; make sure that the hardened washer and cone washer are there. Should either of these be missing it will cause the CV to strip the hub. Can't stress that enough. It also can cause other problems like messing up the caliper. The transmission is fine.
  3. I remember this thread. I love the Lima Bean. I would rock that more ways than people knew existed!
  4. I'm not sure. I don't really keep up with the EJ crowd. I've worked on a couple, but never built one. I have read a bunch on the swap, though. I suggest you do, too. The wiring is the worst part; especially if it's OBDII. That being said, it's still not cheap regardless. Check this out. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/118602-average-price-for-ej22-swap/
  5. You would want 2.2 heads anyway. They need to be SOHC to fit in the brat.
  6. Buy it. Even if you don't use it, you can resell it. That's a killer price.
  7. Good body > not running Motors are cheap and easier to find than a near rust free body. It's likely to be something simple, too. Hard to judge without having seen it, but $1200 sounds good for no rust. These Brats are only getting more expensive.
  8. This is in regards to an EA81 P/S setup- I cant really tell if it can easily be done. I know they're different, but it looks like I could make some adjustments. I have both turbo (less pump & bracketry), and N/A setups to piece one together using whatever is the easiest. My thought so far is to use the turbo line setup. There appears to be more room under the drivers side head than the passenger side. On one of the racks I have; two of the lines run down through the hole that the steering shaft comes through, thus eliminating any possible space issues. The turbo lines seem to make a tight enough curve for me to stick it in there and get away with just drilling the holes to mount the lines to the cross-member. What are your thoughts and suggestions? Anyone done this before? Thanks. Here is a great ref pic by Pooparu from his brat build-thread. This is one of the racks that I have, but not the one I talk about.
  9. I still enjoy Mick's "What it's like living with a Subaru addict." Love that annual bump.
  10. It was a clean Brat when he listed it last year on CL local to me for $4500. He either kept it or someone bought it and restored it. No rust whatsoever, hardly dented body panels, engine didn't run too bad. I haven't seen it since it was restored, but I can tell you that there wasn't much to do to bring it to where it is now.
  11. My apologies, I did that from my phone and hadn't noticed. You can still message him through Ebay, or PM on here. Im sure you could call his shop, too (RetroRoo). http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/71510-ideas-on-swaping-a-weber-carb-on-ea82%C2%B4s/ I would save those pics, as Jezek reaches his bandwidth limit on Photobucket pretty quick. Or take screenshots. Note: That write-up is for an EA82 engine. It is similar enough to you EA81 to get you through the swap, though. There are other, more complicated, options rather than the Weber. There is the Fuel injection conversion, (http://www.leoneturbo.com/docs/EA81_SPI_guide.pdf) and then the almighty EJ conversion. The Weber is BY FAR the easiest. Edit: http://www.indysworld.com/80s/general/USRM/mick-usrm/weber/weber.html There is another one. I can't find the one I'm looking for. It's on here somewhere. Hopefully another member will post it. That should give you an idea.
  12. http://m.ebay.com/itm?itemId=281221126808 This is through the admin of the site (ShawnW). He owns a Subaru specialty shop, so rest assured that this is the correct kit. There are multiple writeups on how to do this swap. It is very simple with some patience.
  13. Kerosene heaters do not effect paint curing, from what have seen.
  14. I'd give a grand for that. Glad you picked it up. Enjoy the journey!
  15. Engine and suspension, or exterior and interior?
  16. I understand, and completely agree. It sucks living in the city sometimes. There was a public place in Ferris we used to go when everyone was rolling Sammys. I haven't seen trails in over year... I'm itching to get out again. Neither Brat is off-road ready, yet. And no license
  17. No, but I have been looking into new places to go... All the spots my family has been going to have been developed, or are being developed. I think you can still get into the ones in The Colony, but it is what it is. These "parks" take a lot of the fun out of what we called off-roading when I was a kid.
  18. It was 75 here today. Supposed to drop to 19 by friday. Texas. That's a good looking green, too. Will be looking forward to seeing that all done up. When are you picking up the fender? I am curious if they are really NOS, as that would be incredible.
  19. Im just worried that I may have to replace the driveshaft input, due to the fact that it's pitted pretty bad.
  20. A little tinkering done tonight. Painted the shift console. Also sized up my new battery tray. From a Honda HT4213, it was painful, but Subaru<Honda. It's so perfect... I'm a little scared. I haven't done anything but cut it, and bend a part to get into the engine bay. Looks promising! We'll see how it looks when the clear cures, and the sun is up so I don't have to use the flash. May be driving this by summer/spring. One thing that needs to be dealt with is that the drive shaft was very dirty. After cleaning it extensively, it would appear that the pitting is too much for the output shat seal to handle - as it is slowly leaking. The Weber may need a rebuild, too. Definitely needs a seafoam treatment.
  21. Page 45, actually. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/122906-the-awesome-older-generation-picture-thread/page-45
