EA dual range going into 99 Outback, a couple questions

Drive test confirms it. No need for a custom drive shaft. D/R is a blast. Can't wait to take it too Walker. -

Lengthwise yes. I still can't do a drive test until I finish the shift linkage. -
Yes...I know it's old but damn it this is the only pics I could find of a shift linkage mod that might work in my Legacy.

Fairtax... I used the shaft from an 03 Outback. You just need to swap the rear yokes to match the diff. DD.... Do you have pics of your shift linkage? I keep over the shifter stay. -
Drive shaft is in and it works. Do I need an EA starter? Got everything back together and all I hear is metal grinding while I try to start it.
-
Markus have you done your drive shaft yet? I pulled a shaft from an 03 Outback and the length is perfect. Only thing I need to do is swap the rear yoke to match my 4.11.
-
Have fun. I'm still waiting on parts because FedEx couldn't find my house yesterday.
-
I know but it doesn't sit quite right on the EJ mount. Do you have pics of yours?
-
Theoretically it should work the same. Only I will be supporting it from the back end. I will probably fab some tabs for the center support. Also, I may have found a driveline that is a direct swap. Keeping my fingers crossed and I'll let you know if it works.
-
Working on the same thing. Hope to have the swap complete this weekend minus the new drive shaft. I just took the EA trans mount and drilled it to accept the skid plate and rear trans mount from the EJ. I'll upload pics of the shift linkage when I'm done.

Parts aren't getting delivered until Friday so I'm definitely out. :-\

I don't have a break either so I was looking at scoring the backside with a grinder so I could bend. Either way has the same results, I just didn't want to have to weld it.
-
Genius! I have been trying to figure out how to bend this plate stock and now I don't have too .
-
Currently have 98 OB struts and springs with a full 6" SJR lift. Less angle than I had before when I had 1" spacers on top of a full OB setup.
-
I maybe out. Waiting on parts. Pulled the engine to fix the separator plate and decided to get started on my d/r swap since I had it out. Clutch and axles are supposed to arrive next week but I don't think they will make it on time .
-
Something must not be installed right then. I've ran 4" suspension lift for years before adding a 6" body lift this summer and haven't had an issue with axles yet even though I beat the crap out of my car on and off road.
-
That's what I was thinking too. Kicking myself for not putting the metal one on when I replaced the clutch two weeks ago.
-
If I can find where the Frankenmotor is puking oil out of I might be ready to go. Two weeks should give me plenty of time.
-
I've asked him before and that's why I thought it was a Nissan drive shaft. I'm getting ready to do a DR swap on my 91 Legacy. Glad you are enjoying yours.
-
The LSD is from the Legacy but I'm talking about the drive shaft. I hate Lynnwood with a passion. If it wasn't for the killer deal on the house we would still be in Seattle or LFP.
-
Can you check the driveline for part numbers? I'm getting ready to do a DR swap and would like to avoid a custom drive shaft. If I remember correctly, Fern has a drive shaft from an old Nissan truck.
