  1. You should stay home and get those other projects done so you can make some room for me. I have to stay home myself. Trying to finish up my motor/drive train/ wiring swap from the Forester to the rally car. As you can see, I've got a long way to go. Trying get it finished as quick as possible. Don't want to end up a garage queen like another good friend of ours. Seriously though, I do need to get out and go wheeling soon 'cause I miss all my NWWO guys. Merry Christmas and Happy New NWWO!
  2. Just need the legacy axles that match the diff then. Length should be fine. Maybe a touch wider but not noticeable.
  3. Imp trans is 3.9 so you would have to change the trans as well as the axles. No hybrid axle needed.
  4. This just happened to me last Friday when my cluster grounded out against the dash bar in the rally car. I'll take a pic of where it's located in the harness. My SRS wiring is totally stripped so I know it's not air bag related. It's a good thing the OP stopped and called AAA as the car goes into limp mode for 20 miles and then shuts off completely.
  5. If you're wanting to test the snorkel out I've got the perfect place
  6. Definitely. She is getting a much needed power upgrade before she goes on another run but that won't be until after the rally car is finished.
  7. Both are all wheel drive. The SUS would suit your purpose better. Here's a link to the tranny chart that tells all the gears. http://www.northursalia.com/techdocs/trannychart/trannychart.pdf
  8. Careful in that area. Those captive nuts inside are some of the first to go. You may want to open it up from the inside and zap them with the welder since they are just tacked into place.
  9. Now I know which Bryan you guys were talking about. Bryan we met up at Cash Prairie when you and Gary were going to Bethel Ridge in September. While you guys were out wheeling on Saturday I was back in that same area. I did the entire Bethel Ridge road from Hwy 12 to Hwy 410. The initial 7 mile hill climb from Hwy 12 to Cash Prairie is one of my all time favorite high speed gravel runs. It was all snow this time and I still averaged 40 mph going up.
  10. Loads of mud and it will be sloppy! Nick and I went out last night by my house for a short run. Slip'n and slidin' everywhere. Downhills were more like skiing than driving. Have fun and stay safe.
  11. Take lots of pictures... I'll be out chasing elk.
  12. Kinda miss that car. Do you have a link for it?
  13. Ryan's issues didn't really have anything to do with the lift more of how it was installed. Those issues were all taken care of and then he took the lift off. If you're moving back to PA than you should buy his wagon... a steal right now for $1800. As far as a lift on the Legacy wagon goes, I had a 7" lift for several years with zero problems. Sold that car and put that lift into my Impreza. Still going strong.
  14. Now you just need the OB trailing arm bracket to center those rear wheels.
  15. no... exact as in I purchased the shell with the tire mount on it and rebuilt the car.
  16. The 4.11 will be a huge improvement. For forest service roads, FS 17 is a fun one.
  17. Fronts get eaten up faster than the rears but my driving in both my Imprezas is "extreme" compared to most. What are your plans, if any, do you have for your transmission?
  18. or you can use Ironman springs which are half the cost and have a better spring rate than the Kings.
  19. So sad.... http://skagit.craigslist.org/cto/4726991855.html I hope somebody that will wheel it properly will buy it and not some jackwagon. For the work that has gone into this car and its future potential this is a steal.
  20. Swap the proportioning valve if you're looking for more even braking. I left mine stock since other than coming to a complete stop, I usually only use the brakes for weight transfer.
  21. If you are looking for a cheap and easy upgrade for bombing down gravel roads than go with the struts, factory lift blocks, and rims from an early Outback. It's a direct bolt in vs. the Forester set up. The Primitive skid plate is well worth the money (I have one on my rally car) but for your purposes an old sign would do. For tires you can go up to a 205/75/15 without any clearance issues. Check out this thread for more info. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/118004-the-unofficial-how-to-lift-your-impreza-thread/
  22. Tire mount was all Monstaru. The trunk didn't have to be smashed in. That was just body damage from getting rear-ended by a larger wheeler. I do like the latch system better. Might have to figure a way to incorporate that. Nick... the reason it looks like the gap is bigger is because it's mounted higher. Same vertical plane but my hinge point is about 6" lower.
