  1. Thanks for responding, I'm just thinking since both sides have a common issue it would be the timer/computer under rear speaker that's the controller. Looking for anyone with similar issues.
  2. My 91 legacy seat belts just started acting up. They both work but the dash light blinks indicating seat belt not on. When sitting and driving I can hear both sides of the belts make a little movement, both sides, can hear and see a little movement. Is this the seat belt computer freaking? Happens to both sides.
  3. yes indeed it works and just used the cruise on 95 looking for a cheep scooter, helps to have cruise when your looking for road signs, and the horn works great too, was pretty easy to switch out. Thanks again Subruise for the part.
  4. My problem was the timing belt when no firing and got gas. Compression was low to non-existent in cylinder 1 as well, timing belt fixed the problem, 0 clearance on that motor, I've learned, so no damage to motor. Good luck.
  5. Here's the thing. The compressor has a tag on it that says use pag 90 oil,... should I use pag @ 8.5 fluid oz as the tag says? will it work with r134a? I'm thinking if the oil is compatible with 134 then I should use that instead of ester? I never read so many conflicting reports on refrigeration oil? Always a challenge isn't it? Thanks for yours and porcupines responses, I really appreciate the help!
  6. Taking a jab at this, I found the first site that I think I understood? 3,2 oz to compressor and between 0.5-0.8 in receiver dryer, sound about right?. I'm beginning to think the 8.5 is for oiling the complete a/c system?
  7. Hey Dave, Thanks for the help on my timing belt, everything is working fine. I just started a new thread on a calsonic ester oil amount. If you have time could you take a look. Thanks.

  8. I know I should and will post this on subura stuff for sale but This pretty much stays on subject. When I ordered the compressor I got sent a zexel for a 96 I beleive and the junkyard said to forget about it but it did have a 180 day warranty, if anybody's looking for that part and interested I can post pics to see if it's what you need.
  9. Replacing my 92 legacy calsonic compressor with an ebay bought one. No oil in compressor or I should say very little. I've been reading that you drain the oil and replace oil drained but since the oil was probably drained for shipping purposes I don't exactly know how much oil to put in? I've read ester is best for converting to 134a from r12 and the amount on the compressor says 8.5 fluid oz's. That seems alot to me. Also receiver dryer I am replacing, most say 1 oz of oil? well if any one knows exactly how much and to fill in the suction side? and if I should add once installed or before, then I'll have a shop pull a vac. I didn't have a compressor meltdown just seem a little tired. Any help would be great. By the way because of this forum I've fixed my timing belt, horn, cruise control, windows and keyless. Thanks in advance.
  10. I was thinking just the slip ring and connector to keep shipping costs down, i've seen them on e-bay 45-65.00 but big money on shipping. Thats for the whole thing. How much just for slip ring assembly, if your interested in just selling that part?
  11. pictures of horn button, slip ring? I have 12 v on round plastic outer ring but not on connector. worn out I suspect, problem is identifying the part and obtaining. I may need the whole ensemble, white plastic ring and outer black plastic with connector. Anybody know what it is I have and where to get?
  12. definitely no air bag, fuse is good, power to fuse is good, horns are good, relay is good, power to slip ring, aka clock spring but not from connection. I tested the power before 3 wire on the three grooves and have power but the center piece that holds the 3 tab connector seems worn out, what exactly is that called and where would I get one? I pulled the steering wheel, just to be clear and in center is a round ring with 6 little copper prongs, not making good connection, cleaned up and bent tabs out just a bit but I think plastic housing is worn, can,t seem to exactly identify part or locate. Need help.
  13. Thinking a clock spring is just used for an airbag? So no airbag no clock spring needed?. Looked for relay after taking dash apart, lower part under steering and where manual and other diagrams show, not to be found. One spot a round relay way up in the corner right on firewall next to wheel well is the only chance of a horn relay I've found, have to be a leprechaun to work on. Why would horn work when turning wheel hard left or right? Things that make you go hmmm.
  14. Judging by the vin#s and the previous post on how to read the formula it says its a N which is a 1992? What the heck? Just trying to figure out horn problem? Too funny the problems I have. Who has the smarts on this one?
  15. yeah, I'll take pics and post on Tuesday and see what you think. I'll also check the vin#'s, with the horn button off so you can see whats really going on, thanks for the input.
  16. Funny thing I never thought to look at the tags... Bought from granddaughter of original owner, so no mischief. This is just to funny, good thing most parts work with the 91-92 or I'd really be going crazy.
  17. Well dam your right, it's registered as a 1992 but the tag on the door says manufactured 7/91, ok well what is the horn problem then? still clock spring, going to check relay but still can't locate, tore dash apart and found no relay. Haynes shows a spot just behind and lower of left vent but I've seen nothing. Some say behind fuse panel, need to take panel off? Any Ideas ole wise one?
  18. Looking to get a clock spring off e-bay for my 92 legacy, my model was never equipped with airbag, models I see all say airbag, will these clock springs fit my non-airbag model? Reason I'm switching out is that horn only works when wheel turned all the way left or right.
  19. I mean just use a jump to make horn work, really it's only a positive into a ground. Wondering why there is a relay at all, old horns that I've dealt with have been positive then ground simple, honk, honk, why the relay? unless they're were relays I never had a problem with? Confusing and unnecessary!!?? Why do I always get the stupid little problems? Such an annoyance!! Thanks for all your input, I will let you know my remedies for sure!!!
  20. Am I hearing this right? Just rewire horn? Really could care less about cruise as we use around town 99% of time?
  21. as I stated before no airbag . on my model. but willing to use your alternatives for an upgrade.
  22. yep what he said, I hate tearin that thing apart, I'd leave it Can't you just use a jumper from ground to the lead under the horn to test that? to test the ground?
  23. Yeah, just trying to learn about clockspring, never heard of it before looking into this problem, cruise does not work as well,I can hear the relay click when I press the cruise button on panel , no airbag on this model so shouldn't be to complicated? Seems as though all there is, is a horn button, three wires from column, just don't know what to think, need more education on clockspring. Thanks for your response.
