  1. I get some bad ones have spent hours on that one bolt just to change the knuckle after fighting a hopeless battle when I turn it I watch the other side of bolt to see if it turns if not stop ! until it dose makes you wish Subaru would have antiseized them from factory
  2. Just sticky sat for ten years but was not seized the valves stuck and push rods fell down but was in good condition just needed to be cleaned and lubed up. I had fresh engine so I just pulled it but had low miles was the original one from my 1980 brat
  3. Well if you could figure out haw to get it there sell you a core for 50 $ had one with sticky valves but complete
  4. Clasic get this weekly it threw a rod right after the heads were done Two reasons one poor cleaning job or orbital grinders used for cleaning. Also if was running with bad HG the coolant was finding its way into oil witch the pcv can remove the moisture but addatives and sugars are left in the oil ruining bottom end bearings. A oil presshure test should have been done prior to removing engine { MIN 10 PSI HOT AT IDLE ] if not bearing time. people assume that because they are going to get the heads done soon they do not have to change oil BIG MISTAKE antifreeze in oil will ruin engine and you will never see it coming. And will never have milky oil or any warning signs just wipeout bearings.
  5. Still no luck ? I do have 4 ea71 engines just cant get to them in the snow till it melts I also have 3 that are good runers complete ones still in cars
  6. Tip drill from backside of pinch bolt by drilling a 1/4 inch into threads will help to release bolt without breakage
  7. Can you use a axle tone ring on your drive shaft to give you the signal a tone ring could be pressed on and you could cut out teeth till you get the right #
  8. read that wrong thought you were talking about strut rod on control arm The pich stopper can just use any neoprene flat bushing

  10. I found the hydro engines was better to ask for parts for 95-96 legacy GT ej2.5d. legacy outback just confuses parts guys
  11. I found some grafite headgaskets for the 2.5d engine other day Eristic brand I think 100% better sealing than the silly steel ones 0 rad pressure and runs and holds way better. And they were cheaper by 50$ each
  12. dealer item I got them new for my 80 brat so still avalibble
  13. the worst is when you put in new engine hook up battery and it locks all the drs with keys in ig on hoist PIA anyway I got good at opening them up with a brake line or coat hanger I go past window frame and push power lock button done last one took me under a minute to get in
  14. Welding cracks is bad idea DOSENT WORK bad news have had to cleanup so many bad head cars because of poorly done weldup jobs the problem is the casting is poorus and holds carbon bits the make the welds not bond properly and after heatup and cooldown cycles the welds give out guide falls down piston gos smack and you look for new engine. Subaru had some very good tooling to build those heads and I think was some very tech temp related work to put those seats in head.
  15. still no luck ? my cores are all piled in my storage under 3ft of snow but do have some ea71 s but cant get to them till spring
