  1. bad pump the pump from a nissan stanza is the same pump sounds like its seized
  2. water pump is not a good thing to cheapout on look at the end where berrings are make shure that aluminum is peaned over the berring the cheaper pumps are not and the berring can creap out i would use a subaru pump have had many many bad ea82 rebiuld pumps and cheapies that failed and do engine damage you get what you pay for
  3. the ing system powers the idle moter for about one min after shutoff makes a buzz it times out but thiss is normal operation as far as i know all ejs do thiss somthing to do with reseting the idle moter
  4. check the feul pump realy did you use stock one or yours also may have a alarm ig kill wire i have a svx here if whant me to check for spsific wire the svx has 2 speed sensors one on spedo head one one back of trans should be very simalar to vss in your car on legacys and outbacks is a green and black wire the svx has a feul temp sensor i belive may be related check the trigger wire for brown ig realy should have a one way diode in line thiss alows power to only go one way did you use the trans ecu? sounds like fun anyway mabee thats what i'll do with the svx i bought for 400 $ bucks yesterday with blown front diff
  5. when the ea 82 gets hot the valve guides drop out and the lifter buckets come up and the pistons stick to cly walls it may be repairable but you better know what your looking for I throw ea 82s away unless perfect shape just not worth fixing put your money into a 2.2 covertion way better moter and you will be way hapyer with results
  6. i use my van norman head surfacer i bought speacial bitts for aluminum and set it just for subaru heads and blocks i get a mirior when im done
  7. is a 2.5 stroker with forged pistons and 2.5 single cam ported and polished heads with 550 injectors wrx small turbo phenelic spacers and 50 shot of nitrous has a 4.44 auto with 2800 high stall i custom set my comp ratio by adjusting block height and head hight used the heavy crank pully and wheghted it to increase tourque wish i had a dyno to check what its maken
  8. the knurller holds the piston while a toothed wheel puts a cross hatch pattern on piston very simple machine i bought from a 80 year old machinist the knurler must be 60 years old works off air preshure the more preshure the deeper the knurl deeper the knurl tighter the piston to the point that a engine with all 4 knurled you can hardly turn engine i will post some pics of the knurler and some pistons. I even knurled my forged wisco pistons to get them a bitt tighter thiss is a proven fix have done many.
  9. lean misfire lean misfire check feul preshure and volume bad pump or slight intake leak or hydrolic lifter seat has creeped up and not alowing lifter to work properly do's it pop out the exhaust or just intake ?
  10. work full time + and have two kidds i'm lucky if i get a half hour a day to reply
  11. have done 3 more all came in slapen and left dead silent i knurll 2@4 when i do the headgasket cost 150 $ extra but makes a hudge differnce that you can hear i think the piston slap efects timming so stop the slap engine runs way better still 100% happy with thiss repair cost efective and garentied fix

  14. rear swaybar links front swaybar links exhaust rear leading arm bushing or loose strut top or mising strut top washer or strut on wrong side
  15. the fillter is not as important as the o ring that seals it to valve body if old or flat spoted the oring will alow the trans to suck air into it and whine
  16. have a turbo legacy came in yesterday no reverse and no low gear put it in low just like brakes are on has welded the low reverse clutch pack but it is very noticable what gear is the problem one on your car ?
  17. check line preshure. if tourque converter was inproperly installed will damage trans my bett is that did it start after trans was installed ?
  18. i do alot of front diffs the lower pinion berring gets overhated and alows the pinion to move back and forth takes out the diff and the transfer gears is very noisy and whould be a ton of meatal on front diff drain plug magnet i keep diffs in stock for thiss problem the last one was 800 $ for me to rediff a trans for shop tranny was ok except for transfer gears i like to keep the trans matched to car if at all posible. I whould check for meatal on the drain plugs first in none probly somting else axle nut loose ? or damaged hub ? i put that nut very tight 150 or better
  19. i do them a fair bitt i find it a bitt easyer to undoo the lower mounts studs and strut brace and lift the engine a inch makes it a bitt less tight the coils come out only in one place takes about a hour to change them all not as hard as a 2.5 twin cam or svx

  22. the one i had set no codes just ran very lean and whould not go like a pluged feul fillter or low feul preshure the o2 senser must have been shorted lean but not failed enuff to set code the front sensor is under the ps cv axle iner end
