  1. I a'm not able to post pic for a long time on here have no way to do it sorry But was a way cool old girl 4 headlight fairly decent shape scored 4 tires and rims for it yesterday I will ask matt gl seadan to take some pics and post them. At any rate this car runs so good even I a'm blown away 8 years sitting and runs perfect I dident even put new gas in it
  2. we use a five speed high low trans with adaptor plate and redrilled flywheel on the ej to get it to fit and is best to make ej harness stand alone then add it to loyale will need constant + and switched + and tach signal fan signal feul pump realy signal And lots of time. I have never seen a ej adapted to a ea auto trans do not think that will work right. And the ej 4eat is ecu controlled so can o worms
  3. ej 15 ej 1.6 never heard of those ????we have ej 2.2 ej 1.8 ej 2.5s
  4. have changed at least 12 filler spouts in last 6 months customers found cheaper ones on ebay / rock auto the 99 is different and must order the vent valve with it as they are rusted to I pay 260 $ for filler from dealer + 125 for valve. Not to cheap the rock auto one was about 175 including the valve. Takes me about 35 min to change and I just drill the screws out don't even try to turn them
  5. Replace transducer the rubber diafram is ruptured I suck on lower spigot and if holds vacume is ok if not replace it
  6. I use a outside striped bolt grabber comes from craftsman or snap on grabs the outside instead of inside for better hold and a smaller one can be sued on the shaft of broken bolt after cover is removed
  7. Seems to be the worst on 99-03 foresters almost all the ones I see have a 420 code and have determined that the ecus were not callabrated correctly for are climate here in BC is just to mutch elevation changes for ecu to compensate for. The 420 code is to sensitive. I do see 420 on the odd outback / legacy but way more on foresters. And never on imprezas I blame poorly setup ecus Or the cars are stoned all the time !
  8. Got it has been sitting for 8 years 3 flat tires hood hinges broken But changed the coil wire added a battery and fired right up dident miss a beat man these old subies are tough. Cool old rusty 78 gl had all the lights and 100 % complete got it for 500$ deliverd to my dr
  9. temp gauges never worked on those and do not think the analog dash plugs in
  10. I reseal engine headgaskets separator plate cam seals crank seal valve covers ect cost about 1500-2000 depending on if 5 speed or auto as a clutch kit adds 400-500 to the job
  11. Wow I wish I could find one like that for my running gear from my 80 wagon
  12. A 2.2 is never done I fix this all the time takes some effort but can be fixed very common problem a new gear Key and crank pulley some locking compound and a peen hammer takes me about 1.5 hours to fix
  13. Weld a big nut to it like a axle nut the heat will breakup the stock glue and you will have a larger surface to put socket on
  14. Check coged idler pully imeadately make sure its ok had two dead cars this week coged idler killed both 16 bent valves Any Knocking or noise from timing belt bad thing
  15. had two in one week that had a 1156 bulb in a 1157 hole If this has been done will short the taillight fuse and short brakelight fuse one car had no taillights other brake lights would not go off when lights were on and tails did not work both had 1156 bulb jammed in a 1157 hole and check taillight fuses both under dash and under hood
  16. steering colum switch or has a 1156 bulb in a 1157 hole had two outbacks in the last week with 1156 single pin bulb in a 1157 duel pin socket this shorted the brake and tail lights across the circuit blowing the fuse and melting the tail socket. If you did this on front light would short the marker lights to the signal lights. But also have had a few with bad coulum switchs but mostly only will work one way or work when wiggled check signal / taillight fuses
  17. I a'm using a 92 turbo legacy 4 eat as it has shot peened main shaft and harder drums / baskets higher pump flow and a stronger rear tail output drum. I think the outback one will be just as tough but people still need those so not so easy to come by. But older 4eats easy to find and outback units even when bad diffs are good most of the time
  18. on my lifted car is a gen two it had same problem so I put a trans cooler line with a 3/8 banjo bolt threaded right into the tank drain hole this increased the line from tank up from 5/16 to 3/8 then ran it to a 3/8 clear filter then to a VW high output cis pump then to my 2.5 turbo engine never runs out of fuel no matter how hard I push it. Then I used the stock feed line as a return line this worked realy good and 8 years later no problems
  19. you can use a ea81 diss as long as you also change the bracket
