  1. is the top of diff hitting floor or exhaust hitting floor ?
  2. If rebuilding your ea81 you can sub out a ej 2.0 piston to get a stronger piston in it or a ea 82 the ea81 had thick ring pistons that liked to crack between the comp rings
  3. one more thing The tire pressures directly affect cars handling And winter control is very overlooked but extremely important a tire with less air will work better in ice and snow. And in Canada STUDS STUDS STUDS lots and sharp ones.
  4. I see the front trailing arm bushing blown witch allows the rear wheels to move slightly forward or back causing the rear wheel to turn in or out slightly making the rear of car lean or sway bad on rear. A 1/4 inch of slop makes a big difference in cars handling have had 6 or more like this now add a bad strut or wheel bearing and they get realy scary
  5. yellow wire to - side of coil black and white to + side
  6. Check cap button and rotor has no arc to dis shaft also check for leaking or bleeding down injector or low fuel pump output
  7. 1rst thing check front page of owners warranty booklet has key # loged and good chance any Subaru key or Nissan key might fit and work I have a ring of 50 keys and within 5 I ushaly get it going hot wire will not help as stering lock will still be there
  8. 90 % have cracks between the valves is not realy a problem as long as the valve seats are ok and not burning around the seat
  9. Mine will not run if car is not running and is 100% stock setup all original also check glass fuse at the ends on mine I changed all glass fuses 1rst thing have seen the ends come loose and not contact well . Cost 1,50 $ to rule that out

  11. my 79 brat will not pump if engine is not running has to be primed thru carb if it sits more than a month needs to see charging voltage to operate
  12. the trick have been doing lately is to remove the aluminum washer to move worn sensor tip closer to shaft this fixes 90 % of them
  13. Sloppy dealers hmmm have seen this before gess it dosent matter were you live remember dealers are for service not repair

Also is two timing belts one for ej2.2 and one for ej 2.5 is slight diff on the cam timing mark if the 2.2 belt is on a 2.5 the ds cam will be slightly retarded and could cause this also check that cam sprocket is running true have seen a bent one cause this sometimes if engine was hit or droped on sprocket
  15. I have fixed 3 cars with this problem all were bad clockspring can be checked with ohm meter beeper continuity check wires from collum to air bag plug bet you will find a break there
  16. we have to unplug them when hunting as its ileagal to hunt in BC with lights on so we unplug the droping resistor on fire wall The big one not small trans one. And done very simple and can be hooked up when we get back to main road
  17. I a'm starting to see them failed twice now lots more thinking that the lower part of the cly wall is just to thin on #4 cly all fail in the same place even with the block surfaced and head surfaced still they fail on lower side of #4 poor design on that one.
  18. check bottom of under hood fuse box for corroded wires have had 2 with problems there in last cupple weeks
  19. 4.44 gears 95-99 outbacks and foresters the legacy one is same but is 3.90 or 4.11 ratios But could swap your front diff if needed
