  2. Hey check frost plugs in top of cly head have not been pushed out have been there and is no fun
  3. I ported the heck outa mine intake and exhaust and put in colt cams heads work great make sure you check valve guide heights
  4. The clutches wear into the drum creating notchs that the clutchs hangup on no a lot you can do without a rear section teardown
  5. While I'm drilling flywheel anyway I increase the size of vent holes the ones that come in from sides this helps cooling and venting bring them up a cupple sizes
  6. I remove heater core unsoilder the back end rod it out resoilder it and then try heat on mine of the 50 core tubes 38 were pluged my heat was 95% better after burns my feet and had to turn it down in -15
  7. I putt SPI on my 81 ea81 it loves it and 12 years in no problems at all gets better mpg more power and drivability I love it took me one day to convert it. Intake wire harness distributor ecu maff I used one from 86 gl for parts but any spi 85-94 will work
  8. is a screen filter so not realy any point changing it unless is realy pluged up
  9. Very much higher 70 % or better I always quote high so less suprises for customer wheel berrings are not a easy job on these cars and tooling cost me over 2000$ for Subaru hub tamer kitt and shop press and berring knife so take a lot of wheel berrings to pay it off
  10. have you checked feul volume ? this seems more important than preshure can have good psi and no flow this I find a lot as pumps get old Carbon on valves doubt it have only seen this cause problem by burning valves then it would have dead hole. I bet would take me 20 min to fix this car
  11. try a vacume gauge and see how many inch of hg it makes at idle norm is 18-20 inhg
  12. Takes me 22 minutes to pull ej motor 90 % chance bent valves I would at least put belt on time it and then comp test to confirm any bent valves while its in car
  13. Have 4 good rear airbags for xt shorter than wagon ones that I use cupple are perty good no soilinionds tho as I don't use them
  14. Front berrings at my shop 350 a wheel iner tie rod 100 alinment 150 ball joint 80 sounds like a fair price to me Anything to do with rack is hard. And sometimes getting bolts out is very time consuming and diffacult have spent up to 2 hours on one ball joint bolt
  15. Two bottles of methel hydrate and a tank of Mohawk 94 ethanol and 90 % more likely to pass that day shhhhhhhh don't tell anyone the hitachi ran fairly lean anyway so should not be hard to pass as long as its working right
  16. Somone brought it up that not all engines came with std berrings so very important to measure crank and confirm berring size. I send every crank to machine shop now just to cover my butt and sometimes they may find something iv'e missed
  17. Hatachi carbs are perty easy to rebuild have done many
  18. I put a HP fuel pump in mine kicked it in the butt was suffering from low fuel volume also check ends of plugwires for tracking
  19. No but have done many is the seal behind the front berring that leaks the center of pump has veines and stator that only fits one way so very important that care is taken to not mixup direction of parts I think you can keep the center section all together and change o rings and seal has two pins and a plate to keep it in place . Also the tank O ring dosent come in kitt have to get it separate
