Check governer for apple coring I did fix a governer gear other day I cut it down in 1/2 to get it riding on a new spot worked for a temp fix I think you can buy the gov gear by itself and is realy easy to change -
The problem is that when it sticks like that it overloads the front berring on water pump and will pull the berrings out of pump was no a good idea as it relies on the water pump berring to support it this is a small berring and will fail whenit does the fan gos strait into the rad wil unpleasant results. The electric fan is main fan and if rad is good there should be no problems staying cool and your heat might even work. I remove every manual fan { but must confirm that electric fan is operating properly } elc fan should come on just above half temp and run for no more than a minute 2 at most if runs longer rad is poor

Very nice the race buggy could do with a set of those kept collapsing the front struts to death doing tuff truck events what do those struts cost ? -
Had 8 or more in last two months 95-04 outbacks legacys and imprezas all broken front springs seems to be getting more commen as these cars get older. Most are missing the bottom wrap of spring some broke in middle and some on top wrap. problem is that the broken piece can move into the tire cutting it and causing a crash or sudden tire failure. So if you have a high km 95 and up Subaru have your springs check regularly and watch for low corners on your car. Total of broken springs in last year 18 or more

Bolting is better than welding less chance of warpage the er27 is a stout motor and it might crack welds. When I built my own adaptors I stood the trans and motor on its front end bolted to bench then droped a blank trans case down onto motor to see the line up also had the main shaft in to center it on the pilot berring in the flywheel on engine this is your best centering tool

Tried this with er27 to legacy 4eat the flex plate to torque converter came up short bell is deeper on ej motor adaptor plate was not bad used a ej to ea adaptor reversed bolt pattern was very close but had no crank to flex plate extention to get it to work. I think you will find that the flywheel comes up short

In 18 years and hundreds of subarus only ever seen two bad rear diffs very rare to fail and when they do its catastrophic you whould know

smaller the bolt pattern higher the stall
-
flex plate is larger bolt pattern make shure it matches converter

It simulates cly preshure and can be left on for long periods of time to see if any leaks. I have done so many I just smell the coolant and can instantly tell combustion in rad has a very distint smell and any oily film / gasy smell in coolant. anyway the compresed air in cly test works very well is a bitt hard to setup but will confirm yes or no if that is problem. I a'm lucky to get 1 out of 200 that is something other than headgasket. Sometimes leaking water pump or rad but rare.

Over and over and over done so many now that it takes me 22minutes to pull a outback engine and I do headgasket job in one day including the head surfacing { head surfacer best tool I ever bought }
