  1. Even with all the right tools for the job is very hard every time I hate this job and do alot a 3/4 impact helps and a kent moore hub remover installer tool kitt helps also a 20 ton press and berring knife. It cost 350 $ + for me to change that berring if I can get the bolts out for trailing arms and knukle bolt. This is #1 on my not favort jobs list
  2. simple and carb Did you say that ! lol darn carbs no o2 to tune them. CFM wise a 350 -450 cfm carb about right a square bore carb. They make tbi units now that ecu injectors sensers all part of the tbi unit thats made to look like stock carb

  6. have a 05 forester motor 1500$ 200psi comp on all four and 20 heads if need parts. changing valves is not a waste of time if engine was in good nick but change or check them all before reinstall. Is not mutch saved time doing heads in car it takes me 22 minutes to pull motor and engine can be put on engine stand and can be rotated to help geting heads off. Installing heads in car not mutch fun
  7. why not use gm tbi unit from some kinda v8 or v6 give it signal from ej s injector pulse and try that out

Give it time to warm up helps and try changing the screwon fillter on side of trans use a subaru fillter as it has a anti drainback valve biult in
  12. The spindle was damaged and they reused it get new spindle the rear berrings are 3 stage press in is real pain even with all the right tools is very diffacult job to do right
  13. well have reused over 200 sets of head bolts with no problems funny thing is only ever had headbolt problems with new bolts that were subpar materials that broke or failed. Hmm china steel or japan steel unless you are buying subaru head bolts have had 0 luck with aftermarket ones exepet arp studs.
  14. See how long the oil light took to turn off anymore than 1 second engine is toast start looking for a motor
  15. I got them thru gillbert auto parts bought the last 10 in canada hoping they make more I think the duralast ones is usa equivelant
  16. Seadan or wagon ? the rating is not as importat as how mutch weight VS how good the backend of your car sticks to road the worry is having the trailer push your back end around or out on you a sedan is light on back end wagon better for towing.
  17. Had a forester with a water bubble hanging around the pump screen made a nice pocket around the pu screen and whould not let feul into pump. '" it keeps surging but gets better when i turn " the pocket that pump sits in if crap gets in is very hard for it to get out. Try somthing simple like a bottle of gasline anti freeze
  18. sounds like you sheared the end of the band off or smoked the forward clutch pack are you shure its not defaulted into 3rd ? default is 3rd and reverse only
  19. I use the felpro one as they are slightly thicker witch acomadates the head surfacing better i find the subaru ones are very thin and after planing makes the piston very close to head. as far as longevity they all seem to last the same i glue mine with avionic form a gasket to insalate the gasket from heat and coolant. This works well i never install them dry. I have tryed all kinds of gaskets none seem any better than the rest as far as holding up.
  20. i changed a set last week I use part # Neapco 1-0430 ujiont for nissan works good is a real pain to change but doabble took me forever to find that ujiont. I use a air chisel with ujiont head on it works well
