  1. Did this swap over last cupple weeks 2.2 from 92 turbo legacy and high low five speed from gl in my 98 outback sport. Took some doing but works well. Had to upgrade to outback injectors and change xross members. have been driving it for a week now is very fast. And I have 2wd and low range loving the 2wd mode
  2. Replaced valve seats is big red flag this is almost impossible without subarus tooling just went thru this with airplane ea81 the valve seats had burned under the sides of them causeing them to drop out and smash valves. The cam being out one tooth would cause this to did you line up the chamfered hole on crank with dot on cam ? could also be decking the heads and block messed with valve geometry but doubt it
  3. I adjust the valve by putting them on my valve grinder also make sure the caps are in the right spots. They are labeled by cly # and a in or ex mark
  4. Stall is the same 2100rpm. Only impreza and 2.2 legacy had high stall. Was wire harness exact same pins ? trany same ratios ? any AT light ?
  5. x2 cam seals x2 camplug orings x1 front crank seal x1 timing belt x1 waterpump x1 valvecover gasket set x1 coged idler pully x1 front crank seal and she will be good
  6. Change front AF sensor have had 15 with this exact problem in last 6 months also check ex valve guides for droping down. The AF sensor shorts full lean and cause's grief
  7. Or they missed the ground conections They have small ground wires that ground near the base of sol if wire was on the rubber side instead of steel side could be no ground
  8. the twin ebrake only works on rear drum cars have it on my impreza works great
  9. Replace the forward drum its stator and its clutch pack for the one from 95-99 outback uses bigger wider clutches and has more holes for oil flow and is a harder steel stator if you haven't already got that
  10. Roller cam - roller rockers hydro cam - hydro rockers cam must match rockers. I find the single ex 2.2 makes more power and low end grunt. Duel port revs higher and better at high rpms
  11. Been able to save two 2.2 s with head retorque both were 300000km + and both were pushing bubbles into overflow the one got a turn on all 12 bolts other only could move 8 but both stopped blowing bubbles in over flow and have seen 10000+ kms since no bubbles and no problems. This only works for slight leaks if badly gone will not help
  12. what parts ? gl wagon from 81- 84 same have some front end parts
  13. Use your 2.2 short block with the 2.5 cly heads this works well have done many some mods to 2.2 headgasket needed and timing belt tentioner needed but makes a good little engine in long run. Is some of these I built with well over 150000 kms on them. Then your intake and wire harness lines up and fits you may even not have check engine light on
  14. I do retorque on ea82s when do a used engine install no problems yet and most of the time there are loose ones is worth doing but time consuming. My money is on plugged rad / headgaskets take the air out by cracking the thermo housing bolts and let bubbles flow out
  15. well loyale ran them till 94 so still some time left but old brat parts getting very hard to find my caliper rebuild kits took 3 months to get from Subaru but did get them
  16. The rear tires were very close to rear sus mount had to trim the edge smooth and use a 5/16 spacer to clear but fits well and looks good got a test drive in no shakes wobbles worked well. Except for now the old ea61 has to work a lot harder to turn those big wheels
  17. On mine the brushes wore down and were not contacting well was really easy to change them
  18. The Subaru ones are grafite coated steel others are just cardboard and as the engine heats and cools the expanding and contracting will tear them apart. The Subaru ones are ment to let the intake move
  19. putt 16s from outback on my 80 brat yesterday few bugs but all worked. back was really tight to rear sus some grinding needed
