Thought this might be a good diagnostic thread if any techs see same problem on the same type of car post it here. If i come axross the problem on more than 4 cars will post it . This can be a good start Had 4 01- 03 outbacks five speeds all expanded center diffs. Fix was to install the awd center diff from 95-99 five speed. Is stronger awd unit. Heres one more had 4 97-99 imprezas with broken coged idler and bent valves fix 16 valves and coged idler /timing belt. Had 4 -8 99-03 outbacks with leading rear trailing arm front bushing hamered out fix press in new bushing. And so on the more imput the better

Buggy worked great thiss weekend got its 5 fastest passes ever pervius best time was a 5.07 set in 05 all are passes this weekend were under 5 seconds And matt pulled a 4.48 witch is the new record for buggy have been trying to beat 5 second barier for 12 years and we got it. Mind you everyone had fast times so we placed 4rth out of 5 but we were 100 % consistant and buggy never missed a beat. Heres the funny part I raced my 79 wagon in street has a 09 sti motor and 235-75 bfgs on it it pulled a 5.01 time In a 79 wagon with 5 speed droped the clutch at 7500 rpms and let here rip it was 4rth outa 31 trucks not to bad for its first race ever. Was good to end the season on a good note. Also did some tuff truck corse to in buggy was some hudge air and kinda rosted the crowd opps but buggy did good came in 3rd even with a DQ on first pass.

Is it a hydro cam or a soilid cam engine ? soilid cam 80-83 hydro cam 84-89 ea81s you could take the valve covers off and check the lift height of valves with dial indacator make shure the lift is all the same on all valves. The mass air flow try making the inlet of senser a bitt smaller were it sizes down a plastic ring or cone it could be that the ea81 cant move enuff air to make it get into range a smaller inlet to mass will speed up the air putting ecu back into range

EJ22T after swap problems. Fuel cut at 3 to 5 lbs of boost.
ivans imports replied to Steve W.'s topic in Subaru Retrofitting
When i a'm trying to tune a turbo car i set the wastegate in default setting by hooking the line striat up to housing this is to rule out any overboost problems or sensers that dont like to mutch boost is just to give you a consistant boost preshure to help diagnostics. I make shure its working 100% before i turn up boost -
Also pull the center out of thermostat and try runing with out it blocking flow will make it so can at least move it around

Try removing the boost controler and hookup wastegate line direct to turbo and see how it works this should make 7 psi just to test. -

The engine is a 2.51 with 2.5 turbo rods has reground cams but block height and head height is stock for ej2.51 but a.m unshure if the 2.2 mangment and 2.51 management is same distance between the cam / crank senser as the 2.2 so mabee is a difference there. Have tryed the 2.2 turbo mangment but was unreliabble and cut out at any boost over 8 psi and add nos total shutdown to mutch turbo ecu controls.
