ivans imports replied to TIMBERTIGER's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
have you cleaned the screen on the inlet needle and seat on the carb this was a problem with 84s the feul would bypass carb and return to tank if this screen is cloged can remonve the fitting and look inside with light worth checking I have been stuck on side of road from this. spark is there or not subaru ig mods were perty good not to many problems there -
We are thinking about going other way tall tires on front small tires on back whould get the front up outa the hole first

Well the pit was over my tires and up to my crank pully was brutal worked the buggy hard but was stuck when I started got 25 ft first pass and nos poped 2nd run got thru barly after mutiple nos pops and floging buggy thru only got footage as it stoped and restarted. 3rd pass same and 4rth pass poped so hard blew my air fillter apart and blew mass airflow off had time to put it back on and keep going twice was painfully burryed but still got out 1 ft at time for a 5 min + run but never had to be towed out and drove back every time And are engine is ok runs better now than before race so +1 there The next race should be a normal pitt so turbo back on dial her in and lets go. A'm glad we detuned it and saved the motor as the pitts were hopless when the crapper dosent make full passes the track is very bad. And matt got to see first had a hudge fireball and intake backfire on test run had to use are extinisher to putt it out rough days at the races !
-
And is loud very loud two 1/12 pipes each side 1 ft out the hood with flapers looks sick ! and makes your ears ring at 6500rpms anyway off to 100 mile for race. Wtch out shark the NA flipen crapper is coming to git ya

make shure you clearance all valves and pucks go back in same spots they came out of they are all indavidualy sized to valves should be 0.25 -0.20 mm or close to it to tight missfires to loose ticky i set uo the clearance with head on bench by holding cams down while checking with feeler guage if to tight i nip a bit off the end with my valve grinder and recheck. Also set crank at the small line oppeset keyway strait up this puts all pistons at same height so no valve damage can ocur and caution the valves can touch eachother so only turn one cam at a time

5-Speed DR Rebuild Kits
ivans imports replied to alaskaloyale's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
only 3 things on Dr are non repairabble 2nd gear cast to main shaft 1 gear cast to main shaft and reverse cast to main shaft everything else can be changed fairly easy because the main shaft always breaks they are hard to come by and very involved to change -

I find it not to bad to remove the end tank clean core out and resoder the end back on then they work great -
Head gasket head gasket head gasket sorry but why wast your time gessing any bubbles in overflow tank headgasket anytime over 3/4 temp gauge damages headgaskets were the heads planed ?? when gaskets were done. This cerates a problem for me shops do heads without surfacing heads and cupple months later they go agian just this year 12 reheadgasket jobs all same syemtems as yours. The headgasket leaks in the bottom corner of fire ring on #3 cly and 4 cly. Test by running with full coolant syestem no air then with rad cap on hold 3500rpms for about 25 seconds drop rpms and look for bubbles in rad if so headgaskets
