  1. The ecvt justy used to do this to me all the time the clip for pump shaft wears out and shaft moves and strips spline of on those i remove pump and can install new shaft thru trans with no removal so trans is junk ? or will a new shaft fix it ?
  2. I must say matt did a mutch better job holding the engine together than me. I find it strange that always breaks #3 piston first every time anyone have imput on thiss Of 6 engine breaks always #3 first a'm thinking its because its the farthest from feul pump and last on feul rail. we are spilting the rails and going to run two pumps and two regs on for each side. Hope this stops the lean burn on #3 This years race season has been a hard learning curve. And Matt did perty good being blindly thrown into a pro race event First time is tough. As he found out I make it look realy easy but have many races under my belt. Also the track was teribble so just geting staged was spinning to get to line
  3. On most i use the fan switch to turn on realy that controls fans the rad switch could not handle to mutch load make a realy take the load and is very easy to ground switch realy I like the silver subaru relays 84-99 generic four pin
  4. try runing a longer intake boot to air box try and size it down so air speeds up the one one race car is 3 ft to maff to turbo and dose 3 turns. The stock turbo legacy has a ton of air box math going on and is tuned for it change that and air move slower and weighs less maff cant work proper

  6. cement the block and heads then it wont crack. That was only half the problem droped giudes and creaping out lifter buckets striped exhaust bolts broken intake bolts still glad all the ea82 t are long dead round here still a few ea81 turbos kicken tho
  7. The ea81 turbo in 84 had a pointer on the front of engine for timing was a tin plate with 0-20 on it
  8. should be a single round pin yellow or blue wire about 4-6 inch from switch breaking out of main harness
  9. Came in 92-94 ea82 cars late model thing so subaru knew it was a problem and fixed it
  10. a spaced ej bolt whould work i probly have ten on the floor 12/1.25 i think may be wrong by 1/34 inch somthing like that

  12. That is a eraly ea82 piston the later ones are short skirt WITH DRILLED OIL RING FEED HOLES why is that piston so hard to find ?

    Well I'm 10000$ into thiss years race season and break or get beat every race a chevey is looken perty good right now. But yes i whould still wheel a subaru but whould be a justy with a 4 inch lift and quwad tires or those triangle tracks made for sideby sides. The capabilatys of a 4x4 that weighs noting are very good and easy to get out of bad situations
  14. I find they hold up better with subaru gaskets or strait to blockwith ultra grey

It could also be that i live in a extreme road area lots of long steep hills and windy steep hyways most die on hills that are 7% grade or more and that are ten kms long or better and most 1 km from top of hill. Anyway dont let me take your fun away a 3.0 six whould be neat in that thing but be ready for lots of hard work. I have 3 of those sixs here all broken is a very large motor i cant even drag it two ft but they do sound nice. The one engine is 06 tribeca 3.0 with 125000kms burnt valve was runing on 5 missaddjusted from factory ? or problem dont know died early and so many hours to get at valve about 160 bolts to get head off

  17. The choke breaks the tab off the end of bimetalic sping and lets it move without moving choke bet its broken inside can drill out rivits to get it off
  18. Injector was stuck must have sat around there is a screen around it to keep debrie out. The tbi ea81 in my brat makes about 10 -20 %more power and very mutch better runability and throttle response seems to run out around 6500 rpms but its just making noise after 5000 anyway glad you got it working. I did have to make my own tdc marks i drilled a hole exactly were the pointer whould be on ea82 car for timing reference
  19. So i have a 81 tbi brat have done the convertion my self #1 what year is your efi ? it runs 85-88 and 88-94 one uses injector resistor one dosent. The ecus are different diss same injectors same maff same wire harness diff. injectors / regulators very reliabble dobutfull diss very problematic has it been apart inside ? also i check injector pulse with diss out spin the shaft should fire injector if not wireing not right { must ground diss body with jumper wire ] The diss gives spark signal AND injector pulse signal Will run with bad maff bad coolant temp ect only feul injector pulse or spark will make no start. when cranked dose injector tick and spray will not start with boot off but will spray.
  20. very comen new shaft will probly fix it if you look closer should be a nylon retaining bushing or clip is it damaged or shifted
  21. Has somone put a noid light on it and check for injector pulse ? will look at my wire harness
  22. that trans combo works mind you lets see 4 speed deul range 96 impreza 4 dr with ea81 tbi i would drive it no speeding tickets
