  1. ea 82 that thing screams give me a 2.5 turbo !
  2. to be honest v8 of some kind efi 5.0 mustang or 5.7 efi chev they make efi setups that are part of the motor now super simple the subaru 3.0 is not mutch lighter and needs a pile of wire harness to run and trans addaptor. As mutch as i like subaru engines they are complacated and not that reliabble. For the amount you will spend you could do a very good v8 setup that may bolt to stock trans
  3. They did have a droping resistor to make for slower takeoffs they did it to svx to somthing about reducing shock load on takeoff with six cly cars not shure how it worked but my bros svx is a slug if you try to romp on it cold
  4. It takes me allmost 4-8 hours to cutdown and biuld a harness just a simple ej one I have a cut down ez3.0 harness took many many hours to get right but worked good. And if you do not have a exstensive knowlege of subaru wire harness coulors and sensers this is very difacult job
  5. Thats why put your ?abble part onto that car so you dont damage parts on the working car this works well for chasing down bad ecus
  6. Na harness i spent weeks trying to make turbo one work is big grief na harness worked perfect first time and 4 years later no problems. Half the turbo cars I see dont run good even in stock configuration. They had way to mutch going on. a known good stock MAF may be good starting point. I would park a known good runing turbo car right next to it and start trying you parts on it one at time till it dose same thing then at least you can narrow down what part is causing problem
  7. Was watching the motor run with a 6 inch by 3 inch hole in the top is kinda neat can see the crank and rods going round well whats left of rod still never seized man theese motors can take a beating 0 oil preshure no coolant no oil still fires right up will try and post a vid of it runing so we can all watch the crank going round
  8. They come out in two seconds with air chisel i couldent belive how fast it worked I buy the bushings from altrom cause they can be delived to my house subaru dealer is 40 min drive. I think price is close I paid 58 $ each from dealer and 40-50 from gillberts parts
  9. Take the worn key to locksmith they will be able to copy it even worn and then could try that key I have rekeyed locks before is very time consuming and tech but can be done
  10. There is one small wire thats sheilded of the - side of coil is the tach signal to ecu is it broken or on + side ? also check diss shaft play thiss will make tach bonce and makes for not so good signals I have some diss parts
  11. rear berring runs from 70- 94 all four bolt exept justy try looking it up for 85-94 loyale will probly be of the 3 peice design but dose the same job and fitts the same way
  12. I have been doing theese like crazy ten in last two months so I drop the arm down and hold it locked down with bar after undooing abs senser wires. Then i use my air chisel to push it out a pointed tip down the side of bushing works best then i made a simple press using a peice of ready rod and large washers with old front bering race to press it in on car. The hole must be very clean and deburred lots of lube and patence tkes me a hour per side but makes a hudge difference in cars handleing. Also check rear sus assembly for exseive rust have seen one rust thru and fail
  13. still no rods yet if they dont make it in time will be the death of anuther 2.51 or we could just turn down the NOS but what fun whould that be
  14. have a 81 brat efi ea81 selling whole for 2000$ drive it home has 180000 kms on it 4 wheel disk brakes and tbi covertion and 15 rims
  15. No perty normal for springs to take a beating try a legacy clutch plate in it has larger springs
  16. check ball pivot on fork for exess wear and buy new spring clip for backside of fork
  17. And so 2 good passes but broke a rod thru the block coming out of pitt on 2nd run seized it solid so we spent a hour turning it back and fourth till it broke loose had a 3/6 hole in top of block but it started. The big end of rod was still on crank so we pluged the holes the best we could with rags pushed it up to the line with a quwad and started her and did its pass was smoky and had 0 oil preshure but made it thru with a little help from NOS. And lined it up and did a 4rth pass no oil no coolant made a good time even broken 7.66 even loaded it on trailer and of on its own power. I was absolutly amazed that it ran with that mutch damage on 3 and was worth the effert to break it loose I was able to get my points for season total. Anyway back to the engine drawing board !
